    I never knew about this material, but I think it’s worth a try for my work. For the grey values I have always used markers. I think I will have more control on tone by moving to charcoal liquid, thank you for sharing this!

    Great effect with the liquid charcoal! Sounds like a nice texture added too. A Japanese artist I follow was using clear crayons that took surprisingly well to the paper. I thought of your work straight away.

    Has liquid charcoal got advantages over black watercolour? And gouache?

    • @MartinLachmairArt
      @MartinLachmairArt  5 месяцев назад +1

      Well It’s not an advantage, it’s more a complete different medium and I like that it does not shine and has a very matte Finnish!

    Very interesting, Martin. I've been watching ArtProf using this product recently - I'd never heard of it before. She did a review of a couple of different brands, and it was interesting that the one with the three different varieties varied from warm to cool, and the charcoal was made from the actual material stated, e.g. grape seed. Fascinating! I am currently taking an online drawing course and the previous module was charcoal, and I really disliked working with this very messy medium! The liquid charcoal looks like a good compromise - getting similar results but with a lot less mess, and much more control. It is very interesting how it behaves with layering once it's dry. I really love your drawings!
    I contacted you via your website recently, asking about which brand of really flexible dip pen nibs you use. I have some normal ones but they will not produce that fabulous spatter effect you are able to get with yours. Could you please let me know which nibs I should get? Thank you so much.
