@@thunderboltproductionsshpk he comes up with the story beats and if he is not credited as a screen writer he is heavily involved in the process and decides what goes in or not. He's made some of my favourite movies like Alien, Blade Runner (Final Cut) and the first Gladiator. But some of his recent stuff like Prometheus , Alien Covenant, Robin Hood, that Moses movie etc etc have been subpar.

I'd also like them to stop with the 6-second preroll, but they do it so they can get the attention of people who have it play as an ad before a vid. It's literally a built-in 6 second RUclips ad for the movie studio.

That’s exactly what I’m saying. Lucius no recollection of his parentage, but he ‘remembers that day.’ Utter trash. In the original movie, he knew who his father was and of course was very close with his mother Lucila, grandfather and uncle. It bothers me that this movie is literally a copy of the original movie but with Lucius, which is dumb. Give him a better story, as an exile or as an Emperor. Him ending up as a Gladiator after all that Maximum did to make sure ‘Lucius was safe’ is upsetting.

I think they showed hints of the darkness he’s going to bring behind this character but mainly showed his charm. He essentially was a slave who became rich like proximo in the OG movie. And I think Denzel will play that darker element of this character perfectly.

Also Ridley Scott himself approved this trailer along with studio execs, and the trailer house... So someone including the filmmaker wanted a Jay z song in it

Makes no sense why Lucius would become a gladiator. I read a description of the movie, it said he was seeking vengeance for those who wronged him. He has no recollection of his family. Seriously? Was Lucila pushed out and killed by the very Senate that Maximus helped restore? 🤔

The first gladiator had an epic and compelling story with a perfect conclusion. Nobody wanted a second one.
The hip-hop music was a horrible choice. It gave the impression this movie is trying to be "cool" with lots of action and definitely doesn't make me think this movie will have the same tone and quality of the first. So it's a dumbed down gladiator for the masses that's trying to coast of the success of its predecessor.

Well i have just virtually seen the whole movie in the trailer can kinda guess what happens. Looks just like a re-make as well rather than a sequel we really didn't need .
I hope it's good; the first movie is one of the best ever made, so it already seems "disgraceful" to even suggest making a sequel. The music chosen for the trailer seems like a total mismatch, BUT, the actual movie clips look promising. I could really see this going either way, but I do hope it's good, and a worthy successor to the first film.

Nah, did you see Equalizer 3? Denzel has gotten terribly lazy with his acting. He's at the age now where he just clocks in to act as himself and gets paid for going overseas for big sets. He's not really there for the movie anymore he's there to enjoy the location on his off-set time. Every character he plays is the same, he became Jim Carry. Denzel as...Denzel.
