Me and my little bro out for a ride testing out my new Gopro hero 3. We dont really 'longboard' we just love to ride around town.

Fake Penny board - Eightbit skateboard
If your just starting out I would recommend going with a longboard. They are perfect for cruising on pretty much any road and can go over most cracks with ease.
The penny board in my opinion is fun for just messing around or just going up and down the street. I personally don't like it for long distances and most cracks will have you on the ground if your not careful.
I don't get why Penny's get hate. I have both a Penny and a longboard. The Penny is useful for keeping in my car, I'm able to whip out something to travel on if I park somewhere and have to walk a distance. Then it's easy to carry or strap onto a backpack. Or if I'm bored at work then I go to the back of the store outside during breaks and ride around. Nothing wrong with riding a Penny. It's also pretty fun to ride and reliable. Don't worry about what others think is lame. Worry about what's fun for you.
do you think i should get a penny board or a long board cuz like i might use it to get to school but i’m really bored and i think cruising around would be fun
@@bbellaserpico Get a longboard if you’re using it for a commute for sure. Well Penny is great for the size and convenience longboards are faster with their bigger wheels and more stable with their bigger size and lower centre of gravity making it more comfortable for long rides and easier for beginners. If you still want the small size but want increased comfort and speed a wooden cruiser such as the Land Yachtz Dinghy is also great. I love both my wooden boards and my penny but I’ll always pick my wooden mini cruiser first for my commutes and trips to the store.
About the pennyboard:
1. It's not hard to learn. Maybe it takes an hour.
2. It fits in my locker (it's really small)
3. The weels are bigger than those from a skateboard. So on fucked up roads it goes a little better.
4. People say it's not made for long trips. But I drive every sunday 2 times 3 hours on it without stopping.
5. It's too big for a normal size bag
6. You're hipster because everyone is on longboards

EvenEva well pennyboards are plastic cruisers, people usually criticize them for having a chewing-gum flex and virtually NO grip at all due to the plastic, they are overpriced, and said to be highly incomfortable....
but if you substract the hype and price arguments (with are tied together btw...) i really don't see how you would care for flex on a board so short that your feet are always on the trucks themselves ...
i feel like the hate only sums up to "noobs ride penny boards"
you can get "penny killers" with bamboo decks on funboxdist.com though, and they don't get bad press

PremiumSoul if you get a knockoff board the mugger probably will push you off the board by then he’ll realize it’s not “authentic” then he’ll throw it back to you. You’ll still probably have that terrible knockoff board that you want to get rid of but at least you have a cool story

If you want to be able to skate all kinds of boards, I actually suggest penny boards first. Since they're smaller, it'll help you with your balance, and then you can easily transition into other boards. If you do a long board first, then you'll be used to the larger space you're given, and riding smaller cruiser boards like the penny will be harder.
It's hard to balance on one but i can still ride on it do not recommend for beginners
Well, if you do manage to learn how to penny board and balance correctly, then learning how to long board will come naturally, since your balance is already controlled.

I dont have an actual Pennyboard but i do have a Kryptoic and I love it to death. It rides smooth, but since I only use it to ride around my neighborhood, not to do tricks, I love it. Never tried a long board but I have tried actual skateboarding and penny and personally I like the smaller board better

Penny is more convenient in many scenario... But it gets very unstable when it reach to a certain speed at downhill...... Just got injured by that today....lol....but longboards makes you underestimate these hazards...

Yeah, maybe if you have a board that's, well you know. Thinner and shorter than maybe. Other than that, dying from a longboard at that speed makes just as much sense as tripping on an acorn

i have both and u forgot about my penny board when i got a long board. for a good down hill long board you will spend around 180 -200 dollars while penny boards are cheap and fun to use but you have to have good balance. long boards are more combustible so its up to you if you have a lot of money for a long get a long board want a cheap but good cruiser get a penny or nickel recommend nickel board because its bigger but penny boards turn sharper. so knowing that its if u have hills then long board, flat mice paved roads get a penny/nickel

For everyone who is new to skating... Don't get a penny, despite what people say it's harder to grasp than a longboard because of its small size, and I know Longboards are more expensive.. Go to Amazon and get a scsk8 longboard cruiser, it's only about $30 but shopping isn't cheap unless you have prime... It's decent for beginners and cheap... I'd get around a 40" just loosen the wheels and trucks a bit.. For a better experience get some reds bearings.... Trust me this is a good beginner board.. But if you have boarding experience than I would suggest saving your money and doing your research and get a "real board" around $100+

I've been skating for about 5 years, and let me tell you, longboards are a LOT more fun than pennys. They're also easier to ride. I don't recall falling off of a longboard, but I still have scars from my penny... lol

For me, is better start with a longboard. I think when you skate with a penny you don't grow in your progresion because is very limited, if you buy a longboard is better because you can move it when you wish you can go very fast, practice a crazy slades and always can improve.

I have five longboards and a penny. I personally think the penny is more fun to just cruise. (3 downhill boards, mini cruiser (dinghy) and a mission 40). Please note that I ride for pure.

Longboard is faster and more stable than the penny boards but if you wanna do tricks I'd say Skateboard.
But longboard is big as shit and you cant just grab him and take him into bag... that's why i prefer penny board ;)

+JustCruisinBre • JCB not really, it's probably faster because it's got more stability (handling), has different bearings, trucks, etc on it because a Penny board isn't meant for fast downhill or stuff like that, they're for cruising.

Get the nickel penny instead. Its a combination of both. Otherwise gor for a 36" longboard. Easier to take with you and easier to turn.
im a size 81/2(in women) and theres no where to put my feet on a pennyboard. ive tried one once and it sucks. i have a longboard and i just cruise and carve on it. even on skateboards i feel really crowded.. i have a 41 inch though
well i have a penny and a Loaded dervish sama, but i actually ended up riding a shlongboard.... cheaper, and in my opinion way more fun

its easyer to ride a long bord but penny allows smaller ones such as clasic penny or the nicel (sry if i spelled wrong ) but penny and normal bords have ups and downs you cant carry a long bord to school you can with a penny

What kind of board should I get?
Where I live there are no really smoothly paved roads but ones that are really bumpy. I would want a board to get from point A to point B fairly smoothly. Something small enough to possibly kinda fit into a backpack is possible but not mandatory. Possibly try some tricks once I get more comfortable with it. I'm not sure if this means anything but I also know how to snowboard
A Santa Cruz landshark seems to fit what you need but it can fit in a backpack but the tail will be sticking out but that's what happens with most boards
