My son has wanted a bonsai for ages and we drove to Herons today to find a good beginner tree (they have so many!) We were priveleged to be assisted by Tibor who actually repotted our choice into an oval pot my son wanted. He made our already pretty beginner Ficus look like a prize winning display! Very memorable visit, thanks so much Tibor :D Wonderfully educational and friendly nursery making bonsai really accessible, highly recommended!
When I visited Herons and spoke to this chap, I asked why he wasn't on any video's...... glad he's decided to showcase his talent as he was very knowledgeable and excelled at customer service. Keep it up!
This is very well done and amazing how it all blends in, one thing that puzzles me is the leaves how do you maintain their size, or for that matter for any Bonsai plant.
Peter was trying hard to get Tebo to move the trees around for the “best” side. But I think Tebo had an idea in his head with the trees he had. Well done.
A friend at our bonsai club had an old toy chevy truck crashed into a tree in a landscape. Another was a little farm fence with a tire swing hanging from a "large" branch. It took the imagination to the old days when life was simple. Thank you for sharing your "main man" with us. Very nice.
All our staff have special skills. There are seven of them - One person you don't often see is my Office Manager/ RUclips Video Editor etc. Without her these videos would not be possible. She deserves special thanks for all these lovely videos.
I really appreciate that you work outside the rigid standards of traditional bonsai and show how the every day hobbyist can make beautiful works of art that suit many different styles with less common materials, i love your videos and would enjoy seeing some more Penjing once in a while!
Another stunning example of bonsai excellence. As I often say, I always learn multiple lessons watching Peter and his staff at Herons. Thank you so much for taking the time to record your techniques and experiences. Ive yet to consume content that I didn't completely enjoy and/or learn from Mr Peter Chan & company!
Nice to hear the thought process and for Peter to ask questions on why Teebo was doing certain things during the initial planning. Quality demonstration guys.
I really like how focused the guy is just in the process of creation. Peter keeps reminding him to talk haha. Very cool video. Just personal taste, I'd buy it without the fence in a heartbeat.
yes the fence size is out of proportion. without it the trees look bigger and nicer. the branch sizes turn to twigs compared to the much thicker fence posts. I also dislike the akadama. The bare soil mix looks much more natural in between the moss. Would prefer if he only highlighted that little path with akadama Edit:seeing it after it was wetted down the akadama looks okay though
es ist immer wieder eine Freude zu sehen was aus einer Idee entsteht. Nicht immer ein perfekter Bonsai, sondern eine Landschaft bei der man direkt das Gefühle hat, man ist im Wald, in der Natur. Vielen Dank dafür
We see glimpses of your staff from time to time lending a hand with heavy lifting, etc., but it's really nice to see them in the spotlight for a change. Great work Tebo! Really fun project/video.
I love all the work Peter does, but this more chaotic, more improvised riffing off nature just clicks with me so much more. I need to do some diving into the penjing world.
You can tell he really admired Peter, I love the mutual admiration that these guys have as this goes together! It’s so magnificent! I would indeed like to see more of these landscapes!
Wow! That is some skill! How fortunate to have a colleague with such an amazing sense! Truly...very enjoyable presentation. It is so interesting that the penjing influence can be invested with such a different cultural context. Great work! Thank you!
I really enjoyed that, not least for the interactions of Peter and Tebo. The end picture was great and the whole project showed to me the artistic freedom available in bonsai. More please!!
I'm mesmerised by the entire process. Love listening to Tebo's inspiration and explanation how he decides which tree goes where and why he does certain things. Coupled with Peter prompting him on his thought process, it's so amazing to watch, listen and learn from you two gentlemen. :) Thk u!!!
Hello, I am a new follower of your channel and I am delighted with all that you do and your sensitivity and way of showing the art of bonsai. I can't wait to come back to the UK and visit you. It's a shame that you no longer send orders to Spain... Best regards and thanks so much for sharing.
As a landscape architect, I am always fascinated with the miniature landscapes that one can create by utisilizing bonsai techniques. Unfortunately, in my part of the world, pots would freeze solid in winter, but maybe some day I'll be somewhere more bonsai friendly :) Thanks for doing this video!
I love your philosophy. What a lovely bit of English countryside Bonsai. I smiled all the way through the last parts, as it came together. Oh no...my smile is stuck : )
It seemed like I was watching a painting being made on a white canvas. Beautiful landscape made and the end result is worth wanting to own it. 🙏🙏 Melvyn, from India.
Love the bit about sharing thought processes and Peter's prompting the young man to do so. This is an immense help to learners or even those who just enjoy the finished product.
Peter, I always thought you’d be a good teacher. And now, seeing your student, showcasing what he has been taught, and comfortable in front of a camera, shows that.
I have tried Penjing before but have yet to succeed. I think patience is a virtue. Please do more on Penjing. I think I have seen every video produced by Herons Bonsai. Peter is great.
Looks simple and natural looking. Whats not easy is matching the right proportions i guess. Well done guys, i like the additional format of the video of Peter's colleague making that Penjing. Hope he and Peter could also show us some Ishizuki bonsai..stay safe to all and can't wait for the next one.
Just beautiful. I'd have even wired an old-fashioned miniature street lamp into the rear on the left so to illuminates the leaves softly. Also suggests scale (Street lamp compared to tree), and creates a mood, a slave you'd love to step into.
Tebo did a great job as I am sure he does with all his creations. Great video of start to finish in creating a landscape bonsai. I really like your videos and they are teaching me so much. Thank you!
I just loved watching the creation of the landscape. My mom is planning to give me a weeping willow branch that's she's been working on just for me to turn into a bonsai and I want to do a landscape style for it. She also just gave me a bonsai seed starter kit to try out. I never had a bonsai but wanted one since I was little, back in the late 80's. I really enjoy all the advice given on these episodes & look forward to more.
Thank you for showing ways to create a living forest for those of us who love them, but don't have the space or resources to own large trees. Simply beautiful!
Tibor sold me my first tree about ten years ago, was therefore lovely to see him still working there when i recently got a new addition! Lost a fair few pounds too i notice 😎👍
Thank you Peter, this was great, Tbor (I suspect I have misspealt that, so sorry) is a good presenter, and I would be happy to see him and more of this style of Bonsai in future videos. I always greatly appreciate the efforts of you and your staff to educate and entertain us.
Really looks amazing I am going to try that next spring with some pines I have been growing from seed .. He must of been so nervous being watched by you Peter ...
I really appreciated this video. Whether something is 'bonsai' or not isn't my own concern. I like this living landscape art and would really like to go in this direction with some of my own small collection of container trees. I noticed that in one of your tour videos you had some other beach-like landscapes with miniature houses and plants appearing like palms. Those were lovely, too.
awesome video guys. what he says at around 11 minutes about the smaller tree sweeping away from the larger is a perfect imitation of nature. as an arborist i see this a lot we refer to it as figma morphogenesis and have to prune the trees as one crown
Hi Peter, thanks for producing this lovely video with Tibor, loving the content on the channel. Me and my girlfriend watch every episode together, and get excited for new videos! Tibor, I really appreciate your work and the fantastic advice and help when we came to Herons.
Saw three seemingly little value tres, fall into place and get an old time looking setting stunningly, right before our eyes. Simply delightful. Thank you gentlemen.
Absolutely fantastic! If you don't mind, I would add one small detail. Darken the tops of the fence posts to show some age. I wish I could take it home...
Tebo is an asset to the Herons team. Gave us excellent advice when we visited.
Well done Peter for giving him some airtime. 👍
Tibor is very artistic. I will get him to do more landscape type compositions for our bonsai videos.
@@peterchan3100 Please do, I would love to see more like this.
Yes peter..please do some more of these..tibor was good because his master peter was very good..
I can't agree more, he also gave us excellent service and information on our first visit to herons, I'm looking forward to going back at some point 😁👍
I concur, Tibor is fantastic and so friendly every time I visit Heron's

When I visited Herons and spoke to this chap, I asked why he wasn't on any video's...... glad he's decided to showcase his talent as he was very knowledgeable and excelled at customer service. Keep it up!
He is a bit reserved and does not like to flaunt and show off.
I have seen him in some other videos. All the same very well done great effect
This is very well done and amazing how it all blends in, one thing that puzzles me is the leaves how do you maintain their size, or for that matter for any Bonsai plant.
If bonsai is a meticulous symphony, this style is funky jazz. Very different from one another, but both manifesting beauty in their own way.
Funny. you should say that because Tibor was a leader of a Punk Band - he is a very good musician and plays many instruments.
Peter was trying hard to get Tebo to move the trees around for the “best” side. But I think Tebo had an idea in his head with the trees he had. Well done.
But, he said that he had an idea...
Wonderful
I got that too. Well done Tebo. I'm glad Peter gave him the airtime that he deserves.
I did sense a bit of tension there in regards to the placement of the plants.
@@johnwayne3085 yeah I was thinking the same thing
I like this dude. Approve of him helping out!
That Guy is my new Hero Like to see more of his work
A friend at our bonsai club had an old toy chevy truck crashed into a tree in a landscape.
Another was a little farm fence with a tire swing hanging from a "large" branch. It took the imagination to the old days when life was simple. Thank you for sharing your "main man" with us. Very nice.
Now I want to make one with a little dumpster in a corner. Could pass as an ecological statement, probably.
Beautiful landscape. The guy obviously has loads of talent.
7:50 peter standing there like something out of a scary movie just staring 😂
"what's Peter doing?"
"he's just standing there. Menacingly."
I thought the exact same thing at this moment in the video and I started laughing. We love Peter!
My favourite video so far. Let’s see the rest of the staff and what their duties entail.
All our staff have special skills. There are seven of them - One person you don't often see is my Office Manager/ RUclips Video Editor etc. Without her these videos would not be possible. She deserves special thanks for all these lovely videos.
I love all your videos they are so informative. My favorite is penjing and this is so beautiful! It is interesting how it all comes together.
Mind you - not all our staff like to be on RUclips. I have to respect their wishes too.
"That looks very nice!" from Peter, is praise indeed! 😃

Very enjoyable to watch an would like to see MORE landscapers.

I like these landscapes. They have the potential of hinting at a greater story.
Thank you Peter for showing the other workers their talent . I commend you on that.

Fairy garden lover here! 🙋♀️ the fence made me click the video, I love it so much! 🤣
The fence kind of spoiled it for me really
It’s like getting in the way, the rest is perfect
I was truly mesmerized watching Tibo do his magic. He’s a true star and an asset to the nursery. It’s a lovely landscape 👍🙏
"Illusion of depth!" This guy is like the Bob Ross of Bonsai :-)
Lots of " happy little trees"
This was also said about Nigel Saunders
I love it. Landscapes like this are very calm and naturally and simply beautiful. Well done.
Peter, your staff personnel are very talented. Please include more of his work ! Expanding Knowledge.

The ancient British art of making model villages meets bonsai :) Great video and a great landscape!
This is an Ancient Chinese Art. Japanese Bonsai was created from the idea of Chinese Penjing.
what an awesome display. Thx for sharing
