    great episode!!!! as a kid who grew up in the mormon church, this show perfectly captures how it doesn’t matter who you are or how you abide by the church’s teachings, you WILL be judged by your fellow members in some capacity. that is always what felt wrong to me about the church even as a little girl.

    Ya’ll crushed it with this one. Would love this as a continuous series like mini episodes discussing the nuances of Mormonism and how it affects people long term for pop apologists👀

    This was a very insightful podcast! I've watched the show twice through now and listening to you ladies. Definitely changed my perspective! I know I was very hard on the women on the show for skirting around the rules and, in my opinion, not being very good friends of each other. Hearing how much pressure is on these women to be perfect. It makes complete sense to me now. Also, you guys are right and they are showing up for each other especially since they haven't been friends for very long. Anyways, sorry for the Long comment. This is all just to say I really appreciated this podcast!

    It’s hard to even judge Dakota knowing he’s a recovering addict and what comes with that. The way he acts, behaves and is in a relationship 100% stems from being an addict and not being fully healed spiritually, mentally and emotionally. It’s the #1 reason drug counselors say to not date anyone for the first year of your sobriety. I feel for him

    • @popapologists
      @popapologists  4 месяца назад +3

      Definitely agree with that! So curious to see what his and Taylor’s future looks like.

      I agree with that as far as explaining his immaturity, but he truly has deep abuser vibes. It's hard to separate the two because all the things that cause him to have no boundaries or respect for Taylor, come from the same deep rooted issues that cause him to abuse drugs.

    • @moustik31

      @@shelby477I agree with you. He gives me clout chasing vibes AND wanting the ego-gratification of getting the "cool liberated girl" to change and submit to him by getting into a traditional Mormon marriage with him.

    • @shelby477
      @shelby477 4 месяца назад +2

      @@moustik31 Yep, exactly. Plus his absolute disregard for Taylor being so pregnant as so exhausted because he wants to fight and get his point across right then and there, told me everything about him.

    Excellent episode. There is so much to talk about from the show and I just find myself drawn in. Always the optimist, I wish for the growth & success sotry, or the redemption story for them all.
    Also, I laughed. I was wondering who is this Indy Blue you brought onto the show. Then she has her own webpage to answering the question (haha).

    Zac feels the need to bring Jen down with his words because he feels like he is less than her as she is the breadwinner currently. He is horrible because this sweet lady is just trying to be support him in every way possible

    I wholeheartedly agree with you! The only thing I think would make it even more representative and interesting is to throw in an Utah county business mom who really is a true blue Molly Mormon. I accept and embrace all these women as Mormons, but the most “saintly” one is still not following many standards (which I have no problem with) and have at least one who was fully LDS “modest” and really towing the line would bring even more variety.

    I was fascinated by how social media has become so acceptable in the LDS church that used to be more controlling of the outside worlds influence culturally.

    1:10:28 when the blonde in the middle (so sorry first time watching dont know names) said I hope women in controlling relationships can see a mirror in the show (in regards to Jen & Zacks relationship) & revaluate. Let me tell you first hand. I left my toxic controlling ass relationship with my sons father the NIGHT i watched this episode & (as per usual) had a fight but this time I left. Called my mom that same night & left. I couldn’t do it anymore. I couldn’t continue being Jen & MUCH less show my son that this was normal or ok. This show changed my life. So yes. We (viewers) do relate a lot & i took this episode to the fkn CHEST

      Cant lie tho its been so hard. Only been 3.5 weeks since moving out & i have my 20month old still breastfed very dependent baby boy 24/7. I was a stay at home mom & left with nothing but all the credit card bills & debt in my name. A suspended drivers license bc the car is in my name & he’d refuse to pay our insurance or parking tickets in time, left car-less bc he’s kept it since he has to “work” & now a suspended phone line bc we’d been broke for a long time now since he’s starting up his company which doesn’t make money yet. I’m ranting but even tho I’m in the worst financial situation of my life living off my mom (a cleaning lady💪🏻🫶🏻❤️ like Jens lol) i’m still so much happier than I was living in a house with him & our 2 dogs & son & feeling like a single mother always cooped up & being neglected or interrogated any time i wanted the car for myself to get out of the house & have an ounce if a normal life. ❤

      I think it would make so much sense! Even if you take it back to the RSV video it seems like she truly doesn’t understand social cues or why something’s will be seen as inappropriate. I also think her avoiding apologizing and confrontations may step from not understanding how to respond/that there was anything wrong in the first place.
