Love your videos. Keep doing what you do.

And it's so satisfying seeing that image gradually emerge. When I get near the end of one of my stitching projects, I also get energized and power through trying to finish it as fast as I can.
Love how it turned out! Kudos to you! I personally would have loved if all six colors were represented, not just blue, red, white, and orange. But it looks fantastic!!

If you see this I was wondering a few things: Do you plan to flush the frame up against the wall? I imagine it's even more insanely heavy now so maybe not, but if so how do you plan to keep the cubes from falling out?
This was incredibly satisfying to watch. One thing I've learned from you and Alex Steele is sometimes you just have to get on with it. I wonder if Arnie will see this?
That image was so cool. It was weird because there was the odd yellow square that looked out of place but when it zoomed out it fitted the image. Love the videos
This is absolutely wonderful, excellent story telling as usual, promoting the shop, and all that good stuff. My only concern is the wall itself. Can the wall behind support the weight, is the frame secured so nothing could cause it to slide forward (despite it being heavy) and any thoughts to plexi or / something in front to hold it all in in case stuff shifts?
"Why?" Is the most simplest question to ask right now. Honestly this was the last thing I thought Mike would do, and Daily Puzzles sending 3000 cubes? I'm surprised they have that many.

@@MikeBoyd true, but I would have "just" wrote the pixel art generator myself and I would let it generate the top 10 or so most common configs and the amount you need of them.
@@MikeBoyd I don't even know if there's already a website of some sort that does this most efficiently, but I've been thinking about this and I'll be making the most efficient rubix pixel art generator I can get it. That includes a top x amount of cubes that share the same face and for every cube I'll give the optimal somution. I mean, every face has "only" 10 million possible configs so I can just make a big database with all optimal solutions and use that to instruct the user. An app like this involves a lot of things I have been wanting to do for some time now. Thanks Mike!
What's so great about this mural is that you can change the picture whenever you feel like... Granted you have a few days worth of time in your hands that is
one question how will they actualy stay there and no fall out ? after all they are just balencing one on top of each other, are you going to cover them in epoxy to stop that ?
They can improve their website by supplying a document with all singular cube patterns X number of appearances of the cube pattern in the image. That way you could have finished earlier. For example, pattern X 20 cubes.
Hi, I am Roman, the one who made bestsiteever and the one who you refer to as "they" 😆 The idea you describe seems reasonable at first, but if think about actually doing it this way, the process of assembly just gets obscured. Imagine having 150 piles of cubes, one pile per pattern, and then searching through these piles for a pattern you need each time you put one cube. Plus, making the same pattern X times in a row is not that much faster than making X different patterns on the fly. What would really speed up the mosaic assembly 20 times (or more!) is if there were an algorithm spelled out for each cube. Then you just have to take cubes from the box one by one, apply the 5-15 move algorithm without even looking at the cube and placing the cube into the frame. But when I started developing this feature, I quickly realized that most artists will only benefit from it once. Then you have a bunch of scrambled cubes that will be used for your next mosaic. I definitely didn't expect someone to buy 3000 brand new cubes and make an art using my software 🙂
@@strakhov I am very excited to get a response from you. First of all props for your website I think it is awesome. I am no expert in rubiks cube, I actually have never solved one. All in all just want to thank you for this beautiful website.
I just wanna give a huge shoutout to Roman Strakhov; the guy who runs bestsiteever he was kinda a legend in the blind solving community a few years ago, and I don’t think Mark could’ve completed this project without Roman’s hard work.
I mean... of course he could have. The conversion to mosaic is trivially easy with Photoshop or GIMP and cutting it up into "digestible" pieces is a purely mechanical process. It may have added a few hours for preparation and organization but you are mistaking convenience for necessity. It's like saying a chef couldn't have cooked his meal without the hard work of the Nicer Dicer engineers.
I would disagree, there is nothing stopping you from doing the same. RUclips doesn't pay it's creators that much so I wouldn't say that he is made of money, or even that he has enough to just throw 10k down the drain without thinking. I also think that it is ok for someone to get paid in a weird way for advertising. This isn't completely free either, Mike spent years of his life doing something well and constantly improving. Some people say that time is money and I agree with them.
@@L83467 Do you understand that 150k for a year of work is a great paycheck if there is only one person doing all that... From this we can conclude that A) Jesus is the Son of God and can predict the future or make it happen, B) The world leaders/nations/governments etc have been conspiring together for the last 3000+ years to accomplish the religion of the Israelites C) History as we know it is fake. You don't really need to speculate though because you can start a relationship with God and have proof. Call on the name of Jesus and pray for Him to intervene in your life. - Revelation 3:20

I would have loved to see him use the small cubes but to fill the wall making it a higher resolution
Or, if sizes are good enough, : to combine both size
Oh my godddd that would be hell, for me even solving 3 small cubes makes my hand cramp
I'm not good at maths, but wouldn't that take weeks to complete?
RIP Dail Puzzles. This video is legendary and will go down in the DailyPuzzles history book.
I just finished watching. What an insane project!! Another great achievement, Mike.
Can’t believe it’s been 5 years since I found your channel. You’re a great inspiration and I’ve shared your channel with so many people. You videos are as good as they’ve always been. Great job.
Whilst watching, I was thinking how much I enjoy your story telling skills, production, et c whatever you want to call it...whilst trying to guess which image you would choose, as you teased us till the big end reveal (@14:55).
And when I got to it, the backing track changes to an 80s synthy thing, and I knew that it would be deliberate. And lo and behold, it was Arnie. Love it. Love the Terminator. Love this project. Love your videos. Keep doing what you do.
Don’t know what Terminator is. Had to search through the comments to see who it was. Great video though.
This is Mike saying "I'm back." in the most Mike way possible.
Your feeling working on that image one cube at a time is exactly how I feel about cross stitching. We're both basically working pixel by pixel of an image.
Firstly, kudos to Daily Puzzles for sponsoring this video 🙌 and then to you as well Mike! 😎 When I saw the thumbnail, I couldn't resist wondering whether you'd do cube-art, and you didn't disappoint! Such an awesome project, and I love the fact that you didn't spoil the image during the whole process, it was worth the wait and suspense 😋 kudos once again, and best of luck for your next skill / project / crazy idea. Can't wait to see what else you'll have in store for us 😏
I was wondering the whole video what it was going to be and I was not disappointed! Awesome video and you went to crazy lengths to make this happen, big up DailyPuzzle too
This is absolutely insane! As a cuber, this was really fun to watch!! And I've got to give it to Dailypuzzles, what an amazing crossover 😉
Just amazing. Beautifully done. I was 100% surprised at the end result image, but this iconic image is perfect for a loft space with bed . . . “I’ll be back” - brilliant!
Damn that’s impressive! The dedication!
I’m amazed how it only took you 39 hours to make this. The video was super entertaining. You earned a sub!

LOL
If you see this I was wondering a few things: Do you plan to flush the frame up against the wall? I imagine it's even more insanely heavy now so maybe not, but if so how do you plan to keep the cubes from falling out?
Could use some epoxy or some other type of resin to keep it in place. Or a screen/protector
they most likely wouldnt fall unless it get it or something
Yeah
Hats off to you, this is such a massive undertaking I can't even imagine how much effort it took.
The whole video is him explaining how much effort it took
I can, 39 hours to be exact. Did you watch the video?
@@justchilling4816 Numbers and words often aren't enough.
As a cuber who goes to competitions.... Massive respect Mike!!
I love how you've basically got a sponsor and been paid in Rubik's cubes. That's honestly amazing. 😂
they’re cubes but they’re not Rubicks Cubes
This was incredibly satisfying to watch. One thing I've learned from you and Alex Steele is sometimes you just have to get on with it. I wonder if Arnie will see this?
I dare you to try doing an endo 360 on a bike, one of the most fun skills on a mountain bike:)
No wonder my Gan cube from DailyPuzzles is taking so long to arrive! haha
12:19 DAY 9000!? Jeez bro u spent almost 25 years of your life into this project, mad respect.
10:24 "so i did some building off camera"
"Why?" Is the most simplest question to ask right now. Honestly this was the last thing I thought Mike would do, and Daily Puzzles sending 3000 cubes? I'm surprised they have that many.
Ya, I love Mike and his cool challenges and storytelling. But here all I could think was that thing us one bump from crashing over breaking forever and turning into thousands of pounds of landfill. :(

DailyPuzzles are legends, they didn't even ask questions. They just said "sure! what size do you want". I wish every youtuber had sponsors like that
such a great video i love the end result. what you said in the video that it was meditating is kinda how it feels like to do a tanabata decoration. it's 1000 papir cranes, i'm doing 100 each day and i'm on 700 cranes now, i'm watching many of your videoes while doing it like you were listning to music
This turned out so good!
Now I'm waiting for the version where you make one that has the same physical dimensions but out of those tiny Mosaic Cubes.
HUGE respect to dailypuzzles for sponsoring this video. Loved this video and it was made possible by this company. Great content Mike.
13:20 wouldn't it be efficient to make a bunch of common ones at the same time and keep them in seperate boxes to grab them when they're needed?
Yes. But the agony of making 30 or so more than required and having to redo them would be too much to bear!
An idea, for the website which gives you the pictures/blocks, would be nice to tell you which cubes repeat and how many times
@@MikeBoyd true, but I would have "just" wrote the pixel art generator myself and I would let it generate the top 10 or so most common configs and the amount you need of them.
@@mascaflorin exactly! I think the rubix-cube-pixelart community is not yet fully matured 😜
Daily Puzzles is amazing for sending you all those. I hope they stay in business for a long time!
What's so great about this mural is that you can change the picture whenever you feel like...
Granted you have a few days worth of time in your hands that is
I wonder how it would look like if it was made out of smaller cubes, would it look like a higher resolution image.
Yes, it would be a much higher resolution with the smaller cubes, so more details
What an excellent project, I'm gonna get me some of those mini magnetic cubes for sure. Thanks for doing this Mike
0:41 three me-ers by three meters XD
dang, it took 9000 hours? Well that's what I heard at 12:25 lol
the only type of youtuber that can't clickbait
one question how will they actualy stay there and no fall out ? after all they are just balencing one on top of each other, are you going to cover them in epoxy to stop that ?
Awesome project sir! I love it!
They can improve their website by supplying a document with all singular cube patterns X number of appearances of the cube pattern in the image. That way you could have finished earlier. For example, pattern X 20 cubes.
Hi, I am Roman, the one who made bestsiteever and the one who you refer to as "they" 😆
The idea you describe seems reasonable at first, but if think about actually doing it this way, the process of assembly just gets obscured.
I am more on the programming side of things so I just couldn't help but offer it
after reading your response,I agree with you, furthermore think that it's an over the top feature.
All in all just want to thank you for this beautiful website.
My favorite part about this was learning about mosaic cubes. That's so cool!
I definitely like this kind of videos, not really a skill, but it’s still fun
I just wanna give a huge shoutout to Roman Strakhov; the guy who runs bestsiteever
he was kinda a legend in the blind solving community a few years ago, and I don’t think Mark could’ve completed this project without Roman’s hard work.
I mean... of course he could have.
But... 2917 is prime!
How many cubes did you use in the end?
damn, I just checked. It's actually 2915 :( Thanks for letting me know (53 X 55)
The only thing I am suprised about is the fact it didn’t fall down
If u turn on subtitles/CC at 12:22 he said day 9000 u can hear him say it too
All I can say is WOW! I love how you kept the whole image in suspense till the end. Can you do Star Trek now?
I felt tired just seeing, congratulations on the dedication ✅
Instead you should have ordered four 21x21's and solved all of those lol
but most of them are pillowed right? and the pixels would be smaller too. Or is this some joke I'm not getting :D
I'm not gonna lie that's really annoying that people like you who have loads of money and can easily pay the money get things for free
and that businesses will give stuff to them
It’s not free it’s an investment, nothing is free
I would disagree, there is nothing stopping you from doing the same. RUclips doesn't pay it's creators that much so I wouldn't say that he is made of money, or even that he has enough to just throw 10k down the drain without thinking. I also think that it is ok for someone to get paid in a weird way for advertising. This isn't completely free either, Mike spent years of his life doing something well and constantly improving. Some people say that time is money and I agree with them.
@@L83467 Do you understand that 150k for a year of work is a great paycheck if there is only one person doing all that... Have three and that is $50k a year per person if there are no funds used for any channel expansion. With the monthly salary of $4.1k you are officially below the average Americans salary of $6.2k.
I exchanged sponsorship for the cubes. Its a business arrangement that hopefully benefits all parties. Also, what makes you think I have lots of money?
This is the coolest video i´ve watched for a long time. insane project, congrats!
