Joe, this is one of your easiest questions to answer in a long time. Little deliberation to be had between this Chevy and the MDX. Better handling, more engaging, better resale value, a more unique looking vehicle than the cookie cutter looking Chevy and less long-term reliability concerns than the Chevy. I would go with the MDX all day long over this Chevy.
You hit the nail square on the head with this one Joe!!! They never intended for it to be an off roader like the Bronco and Wrangler are. So for what it is meant to be, it's a decent ride. 👌 I'm no longer upset. Lol Personally, I'd go MDX Type S Great review as usual Joe and Lori!!! Literally nobody does it like you guys!!!
Comparing a Blazer to the MDX not the RDX is an insult to Acura. Chevy want's you to spend almost 50k for a trailblazer more like 30k sounds about right. For 50k you have a ton of options. Chevy is trash just go out of business already Acura 1986!!!!!!
The Blazer's true competition is Ford’s Escape and Bronco Sport:a fiesty little daily runabout for growing families. But I wouldn't give up on Chevrolet not building its own off-road variant of the (Trail)Blazer just yet,especially if the Bronco and Jeeps gain more traction,no pun intended.
It will never beat the Acura Joe. Chevy dropped the ball on this one. Its nothing but an AWD station wagon not the off roader it was. With that being said the fit and finish on it doesn't even vome.close to the Acura.
I very much like the rear wiper and the 3.8 engine. If the engine is like the old 3.8...you're gettihg a very good engine. It has more power and decent gas mileage

I think the comparison to the Acura brand and MDX is completely off… quality of materials, driving quality, suspension, handling, car reliability and so much more. Very sad that the prices are as close as they are. I think it would have been better to compare this to a Kia Sorento or something Tahoe is the only Chevy I would buy.

Most over-priced Made In Mexico mid size SUV in its class. For 49K you can get a Limited Toyota 4runner that will long outlast this Blazer. In 2 years the Blazer will be worth half the 4runner.

Yep. I just sold my Acura for 3K more than I paid. The deal was completed in less than an hour. Can't see that happening with a Chevy. Mine had AWD with the advanced package, but the ride just was too harsh for us. We prefer a smooth ride and comfort these days.
Great review! The positioning of the side door name badges are definitely odd! Love Chevy’s but still not sold on it being comparable to Acura, more so the mdx which I’ve never been in love with; very odd they still don’t have a touch screen, like they’re trying to create a new trend of people preferring the dial to navigate. I’d say this is more comparable to the RDX.

Thé Blazer has always been a good suv. My brother had a 99 for his second or third vehicle and that lasted for 3-4 years before he decided to trade it in.
If u look carefully there is an Easter egg in the grille... The stingray symbol from the Corvette. Once you see it you can't unsee it. PS... The pinstripe the dealer had added looks brutal as in UGLY and outdated.
Blazer Looks like a decent value, and love the touch screen, which I hope Acura eventually implements. But the exterior of the MDX looks way better in my opinion.

Short answer no. GM blew it by not bringing back the full size Blazer from the 70's. Same with Dodge Ram who should bring back the full size version of theirs.
The updates make it look very nice. Still think it's about 3 grand too expensive though. It's made in Mexico so GM can afford to discount them. Whether or not you can get a good price at the dealer would be the deciding factor for me. Otherwise, I'd go for something else in it's price range. Such as a loaded up Acura RDX or Infiniti QX50. Or a base BMW X3, base Acura RDX, or base Audio Q5. There is also a fully loaded Mazda CX9 for the same price. GM defiantly needs to add more. Such as, a bigger screen, digital gauge cluster and led ambient lighting or discount the Blazer to compete with the others mentioned.

This has a 3.6 V6 engine GM doesn’t make the 3.8 engine anymore. And yes i do miss the 3.8 absolutely bullet proof and amazing gas mileage.

It’s an abomination ( take away the blazer badge and replace it with the equinox line up ) and I’ll accept Chevy’s apology letter .
Should have made the blazer a boxy retro version and call thing something else like the equilame-o or something like that. This is just a big car with some Camaro looks.
Why MDX? Isn't it comparable to RDX? Is Blazer actually as big as MDX? Thought it is the size of RDX.
