Fun fact: the live version of Creeping Death where everything drops out except for the drums and bass, and then James has the crowd start the "die" chant (well known for Jason's roll) actually started with Cliff. It was only done a few times before Cliff Died (like less then ten, they had JUST started doing it" if you look up some of the live recordings from 1986, there's some where Cliff growls "sing with us" and then the chorus proceeds as normal, but a while after that they started doing the "Jason" version, but with Cliff
Funny you mentioned it, I discovered this a few years ago when I was really into old Metallica. Cliff even did the long, low Growly Diiiiiieeee at the last die. I don't think he screamed Motherfucker in the middle of everything however, that was probably Jason.
@@GladEnthusiast yeah jason was the fist to say “motherfucker die”. I also know that when they would play MOP at the part where it says “master, master, master of puppets is pulling the striiiings” Cliff’s backing vocals are “master, master, DIIIIIIEEEEEE”
0:40 My mouth dropped open after what I found out because I thought it came from a character from a horror movie. 1:24 I thought James did that speech as well as he sang it. 2:15 That's definitely true because I recognize Jason's voice. 3:20 So true because I saw a video of James and Rob recording their "Wake" part.
I read an interview where Kirk talked about Cliff's psychedelic use. It was pretty interesting. Kirk also used them, but he said Cliff used them a lot more. That's one of the coolest trips I can think of, Kirk and Cliff tripping together.
Ride the Lightning "Wakenend by horrid scream" has another Lars scream. Breadfan at the end Lars says: "I fucked up at one place" after James burped into the mic.
Im pretty sure only Jason did the backing vocals in Die Die My Darling. Lars Kirk and Jason recorded it together and then they removed Kirk and Lars and told Jason to sing it himself💀
Pretty sure Jason does backing vocals the wherever I may roam chorus and outro. And I think he does backing vocals in the pre chorus in Ronnie “and they all say blood stains wash away”. Ronnie is an assumption, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Not to poknt it out but i think you forgot "too Far Gone?"'s backing vocals we can see robert does it Live and Spit out the bone has backing vocals too
Why did they let Trujillo sing on a recording???? He's a terrible singer! Jason on the other hand wasn't used enough on recordings in my opinion, he can actually sing pretty good and I am not just talking about the screaming he did during their concerts.
Cliffs talking voice: 😎🤙
Cliffs backing vocals: 👹👹🔥🗡️😈😈👹🔥🗡️👹
Cliffs laugh sounds like something you would hear in a horror movie
And the scream by Lars
Fr
“mwahahahahahaha”
He was actually a fan of horror movies according to Kirk.
@@xxhell7grinderxx673you mean according to his dawn of the dead shirt 😂
So all those times I thought I heard another voice in the final chorus of Creeping Death, it was actually Cliff? Awesome.
I thought it was an altered pitch shift of James! So cool.
@@samuelcohen2362 i always knew cliff gave backing vocals, i thought it was common knowledge
No one’s talking about the Master chants? Are you fucking KIDDING?? ALL the chills
Bro was death metal before death metal

@@tommygalushawdym he sang die? Idk mate, I think he just sang master, master, in roskilde 1986 he sang the whole verse with james but never "DIEEE"
@@tommygalusha I found an audio of cliff yelling "MOTHERFUCKER" on master of puppets

Cliffs backing vocals are fucking awesome
Cliffs deep speech in creeping death sounds like hes bored
Fun Fact: You actually missed one! Being Cliff saying "Fuck" after the first "For Whom the Bell Tolls"
More a mistake than anything
@@Ryu_Ake I mean... Fuck is a killer bar
that's james, its in the vocal track, not in the bass track.
@JPX64 It was revealed to be Cliff. If you listened closely, they sound way different.
That was James
Sorry but i think you also forgot Jason's cry of "my friend of misereeeyaheyy!" on the second chorus.
Yes sir
I never realized how deep Cliff's singing voice was, unless it was pitched down
0:44, 0:54 Lars's screaming OMFG🛐🛐🛐😩😩😩😩
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. So powerful

In charleston 1986 cliff sings "FOR WHOM THE BELL TOLLS!!!" And in other concert also with cliff they sing happy birthday for james
Where i can see or listen that?
@@Garrotazo_lmlsearch up metallica live charleston 1986 for whom the bell tolls and metallica live james birthday 1986

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure Cliff can be heard on Ride the Lightning saying "I'll take your life from you!"
What minute?
Yeah and in fight fire with fire
I never even notcied Cliff's low vocals on Creeping Death
dude lar's anguished scream is fucking sick
1:00 to 1:20 - Greatest vocals ever
The albums with Cliff on them are EASILY still the best. He had the hand of musicality and taste.
You forgot the Cliff vocal on RTL title track “I’ll take the life from you” has James and Cilff
It does! Good ear man
That thumbnail, u can def tell that lars and kirk shared a few joints together.
Breadfan at the end is "Mommy where's Fluffy?"
Oh shit, Cliff shoul've been the lead singer!
You forgot Bob Rock saying "Right Now" in Invisible Kid
Cliff speaks in bass
Im pretty sure only Jason did the backing vocals in Die Die My Darling. Lars Kirk and Jason recorded it together and then they removed Kirk and Lars and told Jason to sing it himself💀
Of Wolf and Man "hey" really sounds like James imo. Really sounds like him when he casualy shouts, not trying to saturate his voice.
Technically in the old demo of killing time Dave does backing vocals
Just studio albums
Pretty sure Jason does backing vocals the wherever I may roam chorus and outro. And I think he does backing vocals in the pre chorus in Ronnie “and they all say blood stains wash away”. Ronnie is an assumption, so take it with a pinch of salt.
Listening to isolated vocals in Wherever its clearly James overdubbing
In Shoot Me Again, at 3:13, I hear someone (Kirk) say "Give a shot" or smething like that.
2:57 Are you sure the entire band is saying the "die die die my darling" because to me it only sounds like James and Jason?
I can hear kirk too ngl
I'm not sure, but what about the "I'll take your life from you" in Ride The Lightning? I'm not sure about that one...
i think theres some jason backing vocals on 'Mercyful Fate' in the A corpse without soul section
Cliff sings "I'll take your life from you" in ride the lightning
And here I thought Kirk was the one saying “Right now” in the chorus of “Invisible Kid”
Who is that saying that anyway it doesn't sound like james, maybe its pitch shifted? Is it Bob Rock?
@@metalfan5150it's Bob Rock
Probably a super deep cut, but Lars singing on “53rd and 3rd” (not the whole song, just the bridge) should’ve made the list
0:38 👹👹👹
Sorry but i think in "what the hell" Section in the struggle within also had jason backing vocal in there
no, that one is James
@@Ryu_Ake 'What the hell' is definitely Jason
On Shoot Me Again, when James sings "shoot me", there's someone singing "take a shot" on the background, i think that's Kirk singing
Why does cliff sound british in creeping death? 😂
I guess because we imagine this sinister British narration in horror films and maybe he wanted to evoke that.
R.I.P Cliff!
Nice!!!!
dont forget Rob's "All Away" part at Too Far Gone
Does Lars Talking at the beginning of Leper Messiah and the end of Sleepwalk my life away count?
Probably, it sounds a lot like him
I’m talking abt Leper Messiah btw
What did they lowered the pitch of Cliffs voice in the studio?
Cliff had a low / heavy voice of his own so I'm pretty sure he altered his voice even more when singing.
@@amber13666 hehe Sweet Amber
It sounds cool
Sounds maybe multi tracked
To make it more sinister.
this not a back vocal but in some part of for whom the bell tolls we can hear cliff saying ''fuck''
Do we know if James did all the laughs at the end of Master of Puppets?
Also do we know who's the kid repeating the prayer thingie in Enter Sandman?
James did all the laughs if you listen the isolated vocals. I dont think Cliff did the deep laugh.
And idk who the kid is.
I think the kid is Bob Rock's son
The kid is Bob Rock’s son
What about Chasing Light?
In" the wait" who makes the count?
And the 2⁰ voice of sanitarium?
James multi layered
backing vocals by Robert Trujillo in 72 Seasons?
only studio, he only does that live.
There's a bit on Bad Seed where Jason plays the role of an announcer in the background
in the god that failed jason is actually counting off the beats going back into the verse, but you can only hear his shout for "three"
how can you just filter the voices?
using editing apps to isolate voices or just get the GH3 tracks.
not sure if its correct, but the ending of inamorata where its sand “misery, my misery” sounds like rob as well
And kirk chorus?
ent era o cliff q fazia uma voz de capiroto
What show was the second one shown?
Den Bosch 1992
Thank you
doesn’t the whole band chant in seek and destroy?
it's just James normally singing or screaming.
