the speaker cab in the iso cabinet is what the audience hears, and what that means is that there is a mic in the iso cab, the sound goes to the front of the house and than to the sound system which is what the audience hears, it also goes to the monitor system so the band can hear what they are playing
the gcx rack unit controls the signal coming from the guitar and redirects it to the stomps according to the selected program(patch). the digitech board sends midi signal to the gcx: say for instance you have a delay and chorus patch, this means the gcx engages only the 2 pedals needed and then it feeds to the amp. the digitech is used to control patches throug a midi switching rack like the gcx. on a pedalboard you must engage/disengage each effect, the midi system does it automatically
It's easier than you think...just get a string gauge like 60 and up, intonate it, set it up, tune it and play! I know it sounds alot but just go ahead and take a baby tylenol while you're trying to figure it out so you don't get a headache.
I actually would really like to own that guitar. I am not a fan of jim root or slipknot at all but i like teles, emgs, and different guitars so that guitar looks perfect for me. How much do they usually weigh? I like heavy guitars :D
and the switch board which he has beside his wah pedals he puts them in fronts of his monitors. you create an effect save it on that switch board and you connect that to what every you have to
well i found one on the net for £625, and im not even that fond of teles, its just Jims :P ive only ever considered getting one because of Jim Root and also John 5 but thanks for the advice :)
here is the answer :) Jim Root "It's a hair tie. That's it. Just a place to keep it so I don't lose it. When my hair grows out I can't stop frippin with it... Tying it up... let it down and so on. So I keep it on those fingers out of habit and forget it's there. No one probably noticed it with Slipknot because my hair was short for every record cycle with the exception of the last part of the Subliminal tour...".
i know right i wanted the light gray and the black one but they probly knew that jim's new one was going to out sell the flathead...was the flathead cheaper than jim's tele?
Where can you get racks like that? Because i'm an active musician and i run pretty much the same stuff jim does. But i really want his rack case so i can have all my stuff in one place, not all in different cases stacked on each other.
Im thinking about buying one of his signature modle guitars but i want it to be exactally like his. Can anyone explain what the 12 degree fret board radius is? The specs i have for one say 9.5" radius, is that the same? Also he says he uses Jumbo frets but on the specs i have for his signatur modle it says medium jumbo frets :/
Hell yeah it's the best phase shifter ever, I just realized that Jim and I have such similar taste in gear, SS, CC and a bunch of filters, Teles through Oranges, can't go wrong.
only the top volume, the sound will be the exact same, except on some combo amps that will feature most things on the 100 than on the 50, but globally it's the same...
"I believe less is more, i don't like a lot of extra effects" pulls a full rack of pedals out :'D gotta love Jim.
Yeah, but that's what he needs for the set. He saying that he doesn't want extra effects to be in his way when he doesn't need them.
To be fair, he isn't the guy from Red Hot Chilli Peppers lol (Sorry the name of him escapes me.) That guy usually has 15-20 pedals and up.
***** Josh Klinghoffer
Thank you man!
Some people are just born with perfect hair......and Jim is one!!!!!!
That laugh gets me every time😊
Jim Michaelis that's why he is the joker ;)
Always lived Jim Root
he always has a smile on his face and his contagious laugh 😂. everytime i hear his laugh i just laugh with him.
absolute legend
Jim seems like a real genuine dude. He knows his shit too.
The Jim Root without the mask is completely different compared to the Jim "#4" Root on stage with the mask on :O
Awe... shoutout to Paul Grey! R.I.P.
every day i wish i could be as good as jim
I watched him take a black tele live throw it on the ground, kick it across stage and then pick it up an play it again lol tough guitars
Jim's laugh at 9:21 priceless.
Omg this guy is awesome. I feel like he could be my best friend.
and his laughter is infectious hahahaha
Amen to that, man. You learn so much from them!
i cant get enough of his laugh!!! XD
Is it me or is Jims laughing so contagious! LMAO!
I like this setup, simple and effective.
Great guy ;) So very underrated too! Amazing guitarist!
his guitars are perfect
That laugh gets me everytime!! Cool dude

man this guy has a lot of personality:)
james is a guitar god!
i would do anything to get my hands on one of his signature teles
To me he kind of looks like Andy Serkis.
it is, isn't it!! Ö
every time I hear him laugh I can't help laughing along
There needs to be a 2013 gear tour with jim and an interview as well!
Great dude and a great guitarist.
ive been watching this video for 2 and a half years. it never gets old XD
He looks so weird without the beard.
legend
HOLY SHIT! Dont get mad with this guy, he fcking throws guitars at people!!! OMG
hes a cool guy
i like the simplicity of his rig
R.I.P Paul Grey

THUMBS UP FOR THE GUY IN 7:44
09:18 and he really did it

Fender! be proud of Jim and John 5. becuz of them i realized i love telecaster guitars. im searching out to buy one in the next few months.
hype236 did you get one?
@erniesux slipknot is actually supposed to be doing a new album this year.
stone sour only does stuff every now and then. as of right now.
I know what you mean, dude... Awesome !
@mucky32123 in the most basic terms: instead of using a bunch of cables, the guitar is connected to the amp siwtching system and actual amp wirelessly
his guitartech does the switching, and like he said all the pedals are connected to a gcx switching system that controlls the pedals trough midi.
I have no idea what he’s talking about but Im watching anyway
lol i remember seeing them filming this at the apollo XD just saw jim poke his head around the corner :P great guitarist.
and the switch board which he has beside his wah pedals he puts them in fronts of his monitors. you create an effect save it on that switch board and you connect that to what every you have to
oh my gosh he uses the distortion from the orange :O
what a nice guy
4:36 LOL! xD
wonder why he was mad at Joey
damn , hes gear is awesome
he explains it in the video, one head runs 2 4x12 cabinets, and one runs a 4x12 cabinet in a iso cab
so lucky to be with Cristina! My god he is a lucky man!
u should see micks rig everything he owns is custom. his amp, his pickups, his guitar (a few pedals) and he tells you about every little detail.
Actually, Jim, I don't know....
this guitar
Did anyone see the orange microcrush amp, when he was explaining his white tele?
YOU'RE RIGHT, MAN!!!!
@OpenEyesOpenHeart to be honest they all do but i would say jim root is probably the most normal guy in the band...
@TheApplepie131 there's a gear tour with tool but they're with the techs and not the guitarists. it would be sick if adam and justin gave a tour.
wasn't it the show after this that he smashed one of his signatures up?for the mtv world stage thing?
R.I.P Paul
well i found one on the net for £625, and im not even that fond of teles, its just Jims :P ive only ever considered getting one because of Jim Root and also John 5 but thanks for the advice :)
best rhythm guitarist
here is the answer :)
Jim Root
"It's a hair tie. That's it. Just a place to keep it so I don't lose it. When my hair grows out I can't stop frippin with it... Tying it up... let it down and so on.

Nice simple rig, I like it
@STATUSthesleepers the MIDI switcher he mentions
oh i love it too much
Great video, thanks for uploading.
they r the same you should get it i love mine they r the coolest guitars
i know right i wanted the light gray and the black one but they probly knew that jim's new one was going to out sell the flathead...was the flathead cheaper than jim's tele?
Jim is that like a nickname for James
@Gibson2471 so true... you know if the old korn have one of these vids too ?
i thinks its cool he plays bolt on necks instead of neck through or set necks like most players
4:37 thanks for the burst eardrums
@guitoorbenchi nope all songs except psychosocial are in drop B on All Hope Is Gone
@gstonemetal666 the two songs he mentioned and everything ends are the only songs that i know of that they went drop A in
Jim " You Know" Root !
this is like the 3rd time jim showed his guitar rig
its really not the sad thing is this is really simple
why did they discontinue the flathead tele
Where can you get racks like that? Because i'm an active musician and i run pretty much the same stuff jim does. But i really want his rack case so i can have all my stuff in one place, not all in different cases stacked on each other.
u can glue a headstock back on a guitar and itll still hold the tension of the guitar strings?? what kinda glue do u need??
who knows they did it a year before i started playin now i cant find one
just found it: look here on youtube "Dunlop TV - Jim Root"
mean!
hey can anyone explain me how does the digtech midi thing works please?
is there a standard tuning guitar model
is it like a chorus?(like jim said)
same here
Im thinking about buying one of his signature modle guitars but i want it to be exactally like his.
Can anyone explain what the 12 degree fret board radius is? The specs i have for one say 9.5" radius, is that the same? Also he says he uses Jumbo frets but on the specs i have for his signatur modle it says medium jumbo frets :/
couldn't have said it better myself.
Jim reminds me of Lars Frederiksen
Hell yeah it's the best phase shifter ever, I just realized that Jim and I have such similar taste in gear, SS, CC and a bunch of filters, Teles through Oranges, can't go wrong.
Is he using phaser/chorus on all their songs???
7:49 thats what she said
only the top volume, the sound will be the exact same, except on some combo amps that will feature most things on the 100 than on the 50, but globally it's the same...
did I get somtheing wong ? does his guitar technican switch his foot controller for him ?!
Sorry, i accidentally thumbs downed you, my bad. I too also love private gear tours, i love knowing what pedals they use.
@caboose2433 i think snuff is to, though im not 100%
only Jim Root can pull off a Tele for metal
