'ATW' has my favorite vibe, guitar sounds, lyrics, everything of all albums. I listen to it once a week at least. Love to see the mighty Blues Driver as a prominent sound on there.
Thanks a lot Ben for the info. If you ever get any time I would much appreciate a lesson on Harvest Feast. Badass song!!! By the way the new album is killer. You guys have definitely seasoned as musicians. Keep it coming!!!
Nice! Thanks. I’ve seen you guys play live a couple times and the way you use pickup, volume, and pedal to punctuate phrases is pretty impressive. I’d be interested in how you approach adapting albums to live performance.
Dude, I love the accessibility that you've given us. The insight into gear and your thoughts is fantastic. It's nice to know that your just a dude who loves his music. Thanks.
This is one of the most importants vids on RUclips, those ATW albums are freaking gold and the guy is giving away the tech behind it .. I feel so thankful
Can we expect a vinyl repress of Our Mother Electricity any time soon? Just saw you guys in Fort Collins CO. Big fan, love all your stuff! Really enjoyed this video!! Thank you!
Greetings from Australia. Working out the guitar for Marriage of Coyote Dm but would like to add the harp parts- any idea what key harp Micky Raphael used on it ? Tulips Fort Worth was awesome btw !
Hey Ben! Love this video and deep diving into all the guitar nerd-ery stuff \m/ Would love something like this for the Bakers Dozen stuff and the holy Nothing As the Ideal album. Love your work, thank you for these kinds of video!
On the off chance you see this Ben, can you talk about the signal chain for the cover of Voodoo Chile on Electric Ladyland? Just found out about you guys and every album is blowing me away.
Hi Ben ! I wonder what are your favorite combinations of pickups ? I really like the tones (clean and OD) on “this is where it falls apart” and “blood and sand / milk and endless waters” Thanks !
ATW is definitely one of the best rock bands out there. LOVE your guitar tone and tasteful intros, licks and solos man. the latest album "Nothing As the Ideal" is pure gold from start to finish. best Album so far imo. Really looking forward to hearing some live studio recordings of the album. Those are magical. love from Algeria.
That was great! Continuing on from your mixing video, another video idea would be how you go about double tracking gits. Do you just simply record the part again with the same tone? Or do you change amps/pedals/gits? I think a lot of your git parts don’t sound overbearingly double tracked, I feel the same about King Buffalo’s LTBTM which I know you also had a part in. Any further info on this stuff would br sweet! Cheers Ben!
Hey Ben, if you miss your ampeg R-50H with 6L6 so much, i have good news for you: You can switch EL34 Tubes with 6L6 under some conditions. First of all the 6L6 consume less power than the EL34, so switching from EL34 to 6L6 is easier than the other way round. If you wanna switch to 6L6, it may happen that you have to change some resistor values in the power amp stage, its not a difficult thing to do for an amp specialist. In the last step you have to adjust the bias, but actually it is needless to say this because you have to do this every time when switching power tubes. Love your tone and your style, ATW will always be one of my favourite band! Hope to see you guys soon back in Germany :)
Awesome video, Ben. I have always wondered how you record Woodsplitter stuff, do you play all the instruments? Also, how do you compose solos for recordings?
Thanks for sharing Ben! A couple ideas that'd I'd personally like to see besides the live rig you mentioned: songwriting techniques that work for you (like what comes first when writing an ATW song) and also some of the gear you guys used on the new album from Abbey Road!
Thank you Ben. This is something that Rocky Erickson never told us. It’s great how enthusiastic and well reminded you are about your tools and creations. nice to share your experience...
You sir are a hell of a player. One aspect of your approach that I find super rad, especially now that you’re covering so much sonic territory, is how you integrate different effects throughout a song. With SO many options out there I’d be curious how you go about auditioning new pedals and search for new tones. Also, love the fact that you throw it in the bridge for that single sting on diamond... I’d never think to do that. Way to set the fucking bar man.
Things should always change. You love Vibrato? The EQD Aqueduct is one of my favourite effects; it can do every kind of Vibrato known to man, ~+. The Julia is also pretty unique. For Spring reverb, - either the Surfybear , which is a big format ,real spring ,- or ,the Catalinbread Topanga( great before Drives/ Fuzz), or Source Audio True Spring( which just does everything, including Tremelo, really well). I understand why you'd shy away from the now very trendy Germanium Fuzzes, as they're very temperamental and inconsistent; great for the studio, but a PITA on a road rig.The old ' 69's are classics, but if you wanted something more stable ,try the EQD Dirt Transmitter. Also, I recommend the Hudson Broadcast to everyone who seems to get that sound comes from the amp; it is simply the best, most useful boost/ drive / fuzz made,- like the Waza Blues Driver, with twice the harmonic content. Thankful that ATW and a few others are holding it down; it's popular to say that the format is dead, but that could only happen if bands stop building on everything that came before; what those people mean to say is that they are out of ideas, and have stopped listening. I'd be curious how much thought you'd given to tunings.I've used just about everything other than Standard E for over 20 years, and have developed some preferences. Not sure if Drop C or C Standard are more useful.
Hey Ben , I didn't know you had a channel. I'm a huge All Them Witches freak! I have a fantasy of jamming with you guys HA HA!!! Been playing guitar for a little over 40 years and your right in my ballpark. PEACE from Southwest Michigan 🐉💀👽🎸🎶🎵🧠🌌
Really dig your sound, Ben. Out of sheer chance I got a chance to see you guys briefly perform at The Record Exchange in Boise (2019?) and I've been well into ATW ever since (if I remember correctly it was the ATW album release tour). Anyhow you've effectively sold a blues driver (newer guitar player at age 43) so I'm looking forward to playing around with that. You mentioned that you're open to any questions so I'm wondering if you could go through "Enemy of my Enemy" on your channel. Really loving the muting going on but for the life of me cant put my thumb on what is going on there. Anyhow, appreciate the work you guys put out and looking forward to listening to you guys for years. Before I forget I should mention, because of ATW, I bought my first black light poster since...shit...probably high school? Cheers, Brian
Could you give a beginner/intermediate player insights into things you wish you would've known when you were learning? Or best practices to get to the next level? Your Duane SG session was awesome btw, big fan
As a Hiwatt fan and owner I must suggest... how about an in depth video on the Hiwatt SA212 combo? "Everest" is definitely one of the prettiest guitar things I've heard in years. So cool to see that clip of the recording situation. Saw you guys at Desertfest Berlin 2019, definitely one of the highlights of the festival and I remember thinking in the midst of one of your solos what an amazing guitar sound you have... really crisp and it just bounced around the room (propably was the Fender at that point.)
Hey Ben, as soon as heard Talisman, I was hooked. Love your style. I was wanting to know some key points for a guy, just starting to learn the guitar. I love the descriptions of your gear. Love the names of the pedals, like Big Muff Pie. Gonna go jam now. Have a outstanding day.
It would be cool to kinda just get your thoughts on music in general. You’re always sharing songs and stuff on your instagram (which I usually love). How about like a “Top *insert number* Favorite Records” it could be of all time, this year, etc.
Can you pretty please do a 'Diamond' Tutorial? Im pretty sure I'm close but would love to learn from the original artist. Btw you got me into blues, so thanks for that. I'll never be the same
Hey!!! Thanks so much for sharing... you unveiled such mysteries for a long time ATW fan... It would be great if you run us through a Worlkhorse tutorial, and also if you can share your slide technique Best wishes from Ecuador - South America
I think I already commented this video, but man, it's so cool to be able to hear you explaining this gear/sound recording stuff. It's inspiring and very very interesting. Thanks!
Great content Ben! Keep it up. Would love to hear about tone sculpting or see some riff walkthroughs. Please please please tour Dying Surfer live or release a live video of it. I can’t put this album down.
Whats up Ben, a cool video you could make is how you do some of the fingerpicked parts off of Dying Surfer. That is one of my favorite albums of all time and open passage ways is my favorite off of that album.
Love the videos that you're making....can you do one on the creative process of jamming-on-the-fly, so to speak. Some of my fav ATW stuff is where you guys free form out. What have you found that works best?
I really wonder what gear did you use on voodoo chile cover, that tone is just amazing for me. And awsome video btw i love your tone and playing you are very inspiring.
thank you so much for taking the time to do a very thorough trip to all those fantastic albuns! I also love what you said of the need to chage. Thanks man! Cheers!
Would you consider redoing the MXR 10-Band EQ video that you did on Instagram awhile back? Also which 12” Warehouse speakers do you run in your twin? Thanks!
Hey Ben another question. Regarding the theme of recording Dying Sufer and the speakers that you ran on the twin,. How many greenbacks had to connect to match the Ohmios and watts? I ask you because I own a Traynor YGL-3 Mark 3 (Twin Killer) and later on I aim to use greenbacks but Im not sure about how many speakers greenbacks I need, what cabinet it would be great ... and what configuration. I hope you can answer my question dude. regards.
if there is any twin killer, it will for sure be a traynor. beautiful amps. man, for a traynor, i would do a closed back 4x12 with celestion greenbacks. pay attention to what ohms the amp wants tho
Hi Ben, This is a great video. It's nice to see all the stuffs you have used! I have a question : what's exactly your setup on the song Everest, from Nothing as the ideal? I hope you and the guys fro the band are well. Cheers
More song tutorials would be dope! Met you guys after a show in Salt Lake a while back. Bought you and Parks some beers. Please come back to Utah sometime in the future. ATW is the best 🤘🤘
I'd love to see some songwriting type stuff (riff writing, soloing concepts, how you guys structure them out). Anything like that would be dope!
Yeah it would be awsome to see the concept and process of creating music, either way all them witches o Ben Mcleod techinque.
Was about to write the same thing!
Yeah ATWs songwriting is so unexpected and mysterious
'ATW' has my favorite vibe, guitar sounds, lyrics, everything of all albums. I listen to it once a week at least. Love to see the mighty Blues Driver as a prominent sound on there.

This was awesome! It’s a rare thing to get so much insight into one of your favourite guitarists’ gear!
More production and Mixing videos! The ATW was beautiful! Not only your band, would be nice to see videos like that from other productions you did.
I’d love to know how to play the rest of “Am I going up”! or literally any play-through vid just to watch technique!
Can we expect a vinyl repress of Our Mother Electricity any time soon? Just saw you guys in Fort Collins CO. Big fan, love all your stuff! Really enjoyed this video!! Thank you!

How about a slide tutorial or just talk a little about playing slide in standard tuning
aight
On the off chance you see this Ben, can you talk about the signal chain for the cover of Voodoo Chile on Electric Ladyland? Just found out about you guys and every album is blowing me away.
Never would've guessed most of your best tones (imo) are from just from cranked amps, especially Fenders
It would be cool to include the demo of the pedals or slices of songs you’re talking about!😂 thanks for the super cool content!
I suggest you take more drugs when you record your albums... you're remembering WAY too much.
Hi Ben !
I wonder what are your favorite combinations of pickups ?
I really like the tones (clean and OD) on “this is where it falls apart” and “blood and sand / milk and endless waters”
Thanks !
It’d be super cool to see a video covering your top 10 favorite solos! Either any band’s solos, or ATW!
great idea
Would love to hear that harmony 303a more in depth. Looking for another amp. Is that a good all around amp or just good for slide?
ATW is definitely one of the best rock bands out there. Hey Ben, have you make a video about the tone in Nothing as the ideal already? Cheers!
Man that intro made me think of Swallowed by the sea!!!
Enough reason for me to give this vid a thumbs up!
When is that live rig throughout the years vid coming?
I'd love to see the blacksnake blues brake down please
SLIDE TECHNIQUE please!
I'd love to hear how you came up with those sick riffs from 1x1... how you built that out???
IPA's
Great video 🤘 A tutorial for Mountain would be amazing.
Great video! Would love to see more ATW song tutorials!

if i plug in a pedal and it doesnt make me sound like me, its a no go.
I know this could be kinda difficult, but, tour vlogging would be really fucking cool.
Dude we need more of these kind of series, definitely a great share
Fucking amazing!
Fuck this is cool
Ben could you do a lesson on Mellowing? Always loved that song
Or just some of your acoustic/finger picking style and tunings?
A detailed show and tell of all your guitars with a brief history of each one would be awesome!
hendrix, allman, danny kirwan, garcia....all the typical ones :)
Would love a video on slide playing philosophy ⚡🔥
Love this man!
Things should always change.

Hi Ben, you are amazing and inspiring player! Greetings to you and your magnificient bandmates. What comes out of your friendship is true miracle :))
Can you do a slide technique video? Even if it's vague or basic I'd be super grateful. Oh and by the way this video is just perfect
Really dig your sound, Ben. Hey Ben, thanks for sharing! Looking forward to seeing you guys in Chicago. You gonna share your live rig and how's it's changed over the years?
I’d love to see anything ATW takes the time to record. Shows, rehearsal, trucking, anything!

O man Thank you so much for sharing your preciouses experience.
I learned a lot. Looking forward to hear more from your sound RIG, specially on ATW
When’s that live rig video coming????? ✌️
I think I already commented this video, but man, it's so cool to be able to hear you explaining this gear/sound recording stuff. It's inspiring and very very interesting. Thanks!
Can you make one of these but just for the new album? Please. This video was excellent

Love the videos that you're making....can you do one on the creative process of jamming-on-the-fly, so to speak. Some of my fav ATW stuff is where you guys free form out. What have you found that works best?
Oh man, I had a Harmony H303A for years.... fun amp! Shoulda kept that one.
I Ben nice gear talk ! Could you do an tutorial of Talisman, 1st vs 2nd. The riff on 1 vs 2nd its heavy!!!!!!!
1x1 lesson, or anything type of video about songs on first couple albums would be great!
Only recently discovered your band and this channel, here to stay! You guys rock and your guitar tone is huge!
Nice Ben keep on going with the kick ass videos i'm starting to learn guitar and you and your playstyle are a big influence for me cheers from Brasil!
This is amazing. Thank you legend! Love All Them Witches and I'm such huge fan of your playing!
Great video, thank you for sharing. Love the band and you’re an amazing guitar player 🙏
I really wonder what gear did you use on voodoo chile cover, that tone is just amazing for me. And awsome video btw i love your tone and playing you are very inspiring.
Little late to this but thank you for the vid!!! Your sound is huge and epic and I envy the hell out of it!!!! Thanks Ben!!! 🤘🤘
Absolutely loving your channel so far! As a couple of people have said below, I'd be keen to see more tutorials or even just playthroughs!
Man I wish Ben was making more videos again. ATW are amazing.
thank you so much for taking the time to do a very thorough trip to all those fantastic albuns! I also love what you said of the need to chage. Thanks man! Cheers!
I hope more videos from you come down the line. These are awesome videos, and you're easily one of my favorite guitarists.
Hey Ben where’s that live rig video?! Would love to hear it
Thank you so much for doing this. I’d like to know your all’s songwriting process, how a jam turns into a song on an album.
Song writing, plz & thanks :)
Hi, Ben! Can you tell about microphones you using at recording sessions and live sets?
Dude thank you so much for sharing all that you do.
Would you consider redoing the MXR 10-Band EQ video that you did on Instagram awhile back? Also which 12” Warehouse speakers do you run in your twin? Thanks!
yes
Love to see this live rig progression
Hey Ben another question. Regarding the theme of recording Dying Sufer and the speakers that you ran on the twin,. How many greenbacks had to connect to match the Ohmios and watts? Hi Ben,
This is a great video. It's nice to see all the stuffs you have used!
I have a question : what's exactly your setup on the song Everest, from Nothing as the ideal?
I hope you and the guys fro the band are well.
Cheers
And maybe i'll add this other question : will you do a video to share all your amps, pedals and i hope guitars also for the last record ?
Thanks ;-)
Hey Ben, what was used on the rhythm track on Elk.Blood.Heart? I always figured it was a vibe pedal.
flanger plugin. it was not my idea
More song tutorials would be dope! Met you guys after a show in Salt Lake a while back. Bought you and Parks some beers. Please come back to Utah sometime in the future. ATW is the best 🤘🤘
thanks for the water!
What's the gear used in the song Easy from Our Mother Electricity, the guitar sound is mesmerizing. Great video thou, thank you!
erwin g ...Les Paul, Ampeg Reverberocket. That’s it
Your mixing technics were a good topic. Would really appreciate more of that
Thanks for sharing!

This was great man!
Thank you! Go analog! Share some 388 stories please
Timophey K oooh i will eventually
Definitely want more production side videos of ATW stuff. Pro Tools stuff or in-studio stuff would be cool
i will see if some bands i mix will let me do a demo video

The world needs a Ben McLeod slide lesson. And I keep looking every week or so.
