There's a place in Main Street that you can go and complain about that kind of stuff in the park. I had a similar experience with family and my uncle complained and ended up getting us three passes to get onto three rides. Not just fast passes, but INSTA-LINE SKIP with no waiting involved. Disney knows how to treat their customers to an extent.
I really, really love Disneyland. It helps that I've been there so many times that I know exactly what rides to run to get fast passes for and when you should take the train that goes around Disney to rest your feet, etc. There comes a time when you can literally make the most out of your visit-- I actually went last week and I went on 90% of the rides in one day with my friend just by using our time wisely.
Although I have never been to DL... I go to Disney World about every 2yrs. and I have found that the 2nd week in January along with the week before Thanksgiving have been the BEST times to go. The crowds are minimal and the weather is fantastic. I would HIGHLY recommend going back during those times... you wont regret it! :) Best of luck on your next adventure..
We were homeschooled too, and when we lived in Florida I was like 10, and my sibling were 9, 7, and 4 (yes I have a rather big family) and we got and annual pass to Disney world. It was the best experience ever! We went on everything, including space mountain, thunder mountain, splash mountain, Mount Everest and other non mountain themed rides, Soren, test track. And Winnie the pooh and stuff like that for my four year old sister. But one time we were waiting for my dad to come in from the airport which was nearby, and it was like 1am, and literally no one was there but us and the poor workers. We walked on to every ride, and did them over and over again! It was a blast! Thanks for bringing me back such great memories!!!
I went to Disney World toward the end of last April, and it was incredibly empty. Space Mountain's line was only around 15 minutes, and most rides you could just walk on.
I went to Tokyo Disney in the middle of August a few years ago. So shocked how easy it was to get on anything. It was super hot so water rides and concessions were busy, but I think one ride estimated an hour wait and still wasn't that bad.
45 minutes is nothing! In Thorpe park by midday some rides have queues longer than 2 hours long! We waited for about an hour and a half for a rollercoaster to be told "there is technical difficulties" -.-
Sooooo true!! I've been to Disney World around Dec 28 - Jan 2 (their busiest days) and at Magical Kingdom I rode 2 rides the ENTIRE day because lines were sooooo ridiculous
I am SO glad I saw this episode. Rhett, I'm sorry you had such a terrible time at Disneyland; I hope you can have a better time next time. I used to have the annual pass with my dad when I was younger. I haven't been since 2007. Now I'm planning a trip near the end of November with my own family... I guess I should check the attendance rates and see just how crowded the parks are going to be...
Rhett and Link seem to be good parents. They seriously would do anything for their families. Well, that's what I conclude from watching their videos, anyway.
We have always had great experiences at Disneyland! We get in line before opening and ride all our favorites with out long lines, get fast passes, for others, and have a great time!
Yeah i just went to disneyland during this spring break, and packed with people. Its sad that some trips arent worth it sometims because the lines are ridicoulously long and you get nothing done with in the time your there.
when you have a season pass you get early park entry on special days! and there are a lot of days when the park actually isn't overflowing with people. i love having a season pass to disney. i don't miss a thing
I used to work at EpCot Florida. I recommend going there after New Years Eve. The entire January and February are very quiet there. The whole Resort is very empty. And it's always warm in Florida so :)
My family had a vacation experience like this at Disney World several years ago. It was during the Spring Break season, we stayed there for around 3-5 days (I don't remember exactly how many because I was pretty young at the time), and were only able to ride a grand total of 2 rides during the entire stay. So definitely don't go to Disney during Spring Break if you're looking for an enjoyable time!
In the last week of August this summer, my family and I went to LA. We were there for 5 days. Out of those 5 days 1 was going to the hotel and getting settled. 1 to chill at the hotel. 2 at Newport and Hunntington Beach and 1 for California Adventure. In that one day we went, we managed to ride every single ride there at California Adventure. My absolute favorite was the Car Racers. We went at night and it was dark, the lights were beautiful and the cool night breeze felt nice. Best part of my summer. :)
Rhett, two rides breaking down is crazy ridiculous and highly unusual. I spent a whole week at Disneyland for my honeymoon and never encountered a broken ride then entire time. You should have complained politely a cast member--they really do have the best customer service and probably would have been happy to give you fast passes for the rides you'd missed.
My family goes to Disneyland a couple times a year. Most of the time, we have a blast. But I've had days exactly like that- everything goes wrong, pure frustration. My recommendation? Go see some of the live entertainment. They're talented, funny, interactive if you or your kids are into that sort of thing. And you don't have to wait in line! They're a hidden gem on crowded days and can restore the magic on even your worst day.
I love Disneyland! But I've been many times so I'll admit that some experiences are less awesome than others. Busy days always suck: more rides break down, the lines are longer, fastpasses sell out faster... I've always had more luck going on days when it might rain and trying to wait until night to ride the roller coasters (or waiting for when there is a parade or show going on to ride them). Also, I usually forgo California Adventure, because while there are a few great rides, it's not usually worth the time to park hop. Instead, I go to California Adventure some other day for a shorter period of time (also, it's usually less busy earlier in the day)
Definitely go in the beginning of May. My boyfriend and I went that time to disney world 2 years ago and it was perfect. We never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride. Some rides we literally jumped off them hopped right back on.
Yesterday I just came back from Florida and went to Disney world and it sucked for our family. There's this new thing that you can BOOK your rides ahead of time and we wasted about 500$ on Disney. But if you go to universal studios that was fun.
Growing up in Florida I would always hear this rule of theme parks: Don't go in the summer -- nor, as Rhett learned, during spring break season. Whenever someone I knew was going to Disney, it was in February.
When I went to disneyland, it was mid November. I managed to go on the tower of terror 15 times in one day. I also went on the California screamin' twice in 30 minutes.
I went to Disneyland last year. I waited in line for over an hour for the Haunted Mansion before we the power went out and consistently went out while we were on the ride.
Life: -Went to big thunder mountain railroad. After about an hour, they told us there are technical difficulties, too. -Went to Indiana jones ride, TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES. -The Harry Potter ride: this is the worst one yet. There was a two hour wait sign up. We were like, okay, it's a popular ride, that's reasonable. Went in line. An hour in, we were dying of heat. It was June. In California. But we were like, uh, it's okay, we're halfway through. Another hour passes. There was a HOLDUP, and we had barely moved from the halfway point. We were like, YOU KNOW WHAT? WE'VE GONE THIS FAR. So we waited another hour, and then we FINALLY rode the Harry Potter ride. It was about 4:00 when we got in line. It was 7:00 when we got out.
When they close the ride for mechanical problems, they usually give you a a fast pass that is good for any of the rides or a free ice cream coupon or something like that.
This exact thing happened to me at a Blackpool pleasure beach in England where we where there for 6 hours and we only got on 2 rides queued for 5 rides
Wait. So in Disneyland they don't give you fastpasses when they evacuate the attraction? Because in Disney World, if they have to evacuate all the Guests, they hand out fastpasses that allow you to return that attraction (or one of the ones listed on the ticket) as long as you return before the expiration date on the ticket.
Kayla Platt This is a really late reply, but as a Cast Member, we do hand out re-admission passes if we evacuate, but only to the Guests that were on the attraction when we evacuated and depending on how far the Guest was along in the line.
I remember going to Universal Studios a few years ago, and I and my family were waiting in line for the Jurassic Park ride when they shut it down for technical difficulties too.
May I just say, Rhett, that your bad Disneyland experience is not normal. Trust me: I've had a Disneyland pass for most of my life and we've never had an experience as bad as that. But then again, I've not really been on the Spring Break days. I hope that you able to get the most enjoyment out of your annual pass.
I went to Disney World and Universal in early May and I was able to walk on to every ride multiple times including the Harry Potter attraction area in Universal (which usually experiences BAD lines!).
I have a lot of experience with disney. i used to go every week. When it comes to crowded days, you have to plan your day strategically. Getting there early is good, and riding a lot of the rides before most of the crowd arrives is a good route when you don't want to wait. on a non busy day you could ride a great number of rides before the lines get to long if you get there when it opens. if you want to see how long the lines are before walking to a particular attraction, i think disneyland has an app. This helps with the amount of walking and you can just go to the ride you want without walking to each individual ride. Since Rhett got there at around 10, it makes sense that the fastpasses were so late given the crowds. going towards the middle of the week, or when it rains, it tends to be less crowded. Holidays are hell and crowded like crazy so its best to avoid them when you want short lines. I honestly do think you had a bad experience, Rhett, but it was partially due to your poor planning and can be avoided in the future :)
I went to EuroDisney in Paris at Christmas 2011 and I didn't really do anything because I'm scared of theme parks or whatever but my mum and uncle were on 'Crush's Coaster' and my uncle went on it first with my sister and it was absolutely fine but when my mum and uncle went on , the ride got stuck. It was completely dark , there was really loud music playing over speakers and my mum was having a panic attack , because at this stage , my sister and I were standing outside of the ride alone. Everything was fixed and the people at EuroDisney didn't do anything to compensate for my mums panicking. Just thought I would share my story with my fellow mythical beasts.
I was actually just at Disneyland this last weekend for a band trip. It was amazing, but a couple rides did break down. We were waiting in line for Pirates of the Caribbean for an hour, right before we were about to get on it broke down, so we left and went to the haunted mansion. While we were on it it broke down for half an hour... Yep, that was frustrating. But the rest of the trip was amazing! And may I suggest the next time you go it's between October and December? That's when they have the Haunted Mansion ride look like "The Nightmare before Christmas"
I've always loved Disneyland and California Adventure, even when its really crowded. It's about the nostalgia, and the music, and the enviroment. I was pretty much raised in Disneyland, I remember when California Adventure was built! That place means a lot to me. Also, if you're looking for a really fun time, go with ONE very good friend. You move faster, and its easier to get on rides :)
Rhett, I'm so sorry your first trip was a half-flunk. You made lotsa rookie mistakes. Lucky for you, plenty of the mythical beasts are Disney veterans and can help you next time you plan your trip. The most important tip I can give you is this: Don't go to the block out days. Those are typically on holidays, spring break, and summer break. What do they have in common? No school. As homeschoolers, we take advantage of days when school is on because the rides are 45 min wait at the worst. Best of luck with your next trip!
Listen to this: I was at The Magic Kingdom in WDW the 31st of December. They were on level 3, that means it's completely full! Not 1 more person can enter the park. It was Crazy!!!! But still very fun!!!
I live an hour away from Disneyland. The best time of the year is the first or second week of November -- during a weekday. School is in session and parents are less likely to pull children out of school so close to Thanksgiving break. The weather is temperate -- neither hot nor cold. I can average 10-13 rides in a single day. But I also recommend a three-day trip. You can ride your favorite rides (or attractions) a couple of times and still have a full day for California Adventures. I usually try for Mon-Wed or Tue-Thur stint
always go closer to the end of the summer or in the middle of the school year but not during vacation it is actually really fun so just try next year ive gone 3 times and had fun each time
My family never goes to disneyland in the summer cause it does suck during the summer. We always go in like January on a Wednesday. One time we walked onto almost every ride. It's freaking awesome during the school year, but SUCKS during the summer, unless you go in the middle of the week.
I went to Disneyworld a couple years ago, it was terrible. It was really hot and crowded and we didn't get any fast passes. I rode two rides: Space Mountain and The Tower of Terror. Then it started pouring rain and when we went to look for our rental car we couldn't find it. So we were out in the rain(thunder and lightning as well) for a good 30 minutes. That was my Disney experience......
When my cousin and I were in Disneyworld we were about to get a fast pass for test track and a crew member behind us was all like I can take you through the fast pass line for free.
I LOVED it when i went to disney land! i live in Washington, so we drove like 7days with a stop. Tower of Terror was such a good ride and u MISSED OUT on the mountain ride. It was so fun.
I like when you, guys, are telling us your personal stories. It's like a conversation with good friends... I don't have in real life.
Nothing makes me smile quite like you two
+Bridge Sutcliffe amen to that
same
And at this part your like

I died at that part 😂😂
Me too😂😂😂

To this day I regularly watch this and all story time mores from the past! 🔥
Although I have never been to DL... I go to Disney World about every 2yrs. and I have found that the 2nd week in January along with the week before Thanksgiving have been the BEST times to go. OMG im addicted!!! awesome vids!!

My old dance studio dances there every other year. We go in May and it's a blast! We got to dance in the Christmas Parade in 2014
I went to Disney World toward the end of last April, and it was incredibly empty. Space Mountain's line was only around 15 minutes, and most rides you could just walk on.
I did California screaming when I was like 7 lol! also someone don't want u to go to Disney land...DUN DUN DUNNNNNNN!!!!
"The mouse hates you."
California Screamin is many things but it is not a wooden roller coaster
0:27 Rhett turns into Flula.
Gosh I got so exhausted just listening to Rhett’s story. So many lines. So much waiting.
I went to Tokyo Disney in the middle of August a few years ago. So shocked how easy it was to get on anything. It was super hot so water rides and concessions were busy, but I think one ride estimated an hour wait and still wasn't that bad.
I lived an hour or so from disnyland until 6 years ago! I miss it so much!
You can fit Disneyland in the parking lot of Disneyworld with over 500 spaces left!
I was crying from laughter when Rhett starting speaking in S's.
45 minutes is nothing! In Thorpe park by midday some rides have queues longer than 2 hours long! We waited for about an hour and a half for a rollercoaster to be told "there is technical difficulties" -.-
Rhett's Micky Mouse impression sounds like High-Five Ghost
I go to Disney all the time and I've had days like this too. Just go in the wintertime! Always the best.
Sooooo true!! I've been to Disney World around Dec 28 - Jan 2 (their busiest days) and at Magical Kingdom I rode 2 rides the ENTIRE day because lines were sooooo ridiculous
Disney's lost the vision that Walt had. It's more about the money they're making over the experience for the guests.
I am SO glad I saw this episode. Rhett, I'm sorry you had such a terrible time at Disneyland; I hope you can have a better time next time. Yea, me to. I've planned a Disney World trip really soon!
I've only been to Disney Land. It was terrific!
***** if you go to Disney World it's way bigger and better!
Emma Shew Hope you have fun!
jadensvideos I'd like to!
at 5:46 just keep your eyes on link he just knows what is going to happen he was like "no...no" and hes face is priceless
If you would have told a cast member you didn't have magical day they would have made it up to you.
We have always had great experiences at Disneyland! We get in line before opening and ride all our favorites with out long lines, get fast passes, for others, and have a great time!

Disneyland rocks!! Rhett, sorry you had an bad experience, probably once in a lifetime type of thing, hope your next day will be better.
“Disney Dad” - Rett
Fast passes for cars ride is soo worth it it is like 2:30 pm and we automatically are in a car
In the last week of August this summer, my family and I went to LA. We were there for 5 days. Rhett and Link are amazing.
So Rhett opens and closes his laptop like three times just to not use it.

Go to Disneyland on Superbowl Sunday. I went a few years ago and the longest I waited was 15 minutes for Space Mountain.
U guys are awesome always have me laughing:)
I've only been to Disney world. I live in michigan so we take the drive and my dudes.
big family + small car + 2 day drive = a bad time. 😂😂😂
My senior class trip is to Disney world! I'm so excited! I've never been on a plane or gone to Disney before! I just hope I get enough money to go!!!
Definitely go in the beginning of May. My boyfriend and I went that time to disney world 2 years ago and it was perfect. We never waited more than 20 minutes for a ride. Some rides we literally jumped off them hopped right back on.
Btw Disney world is just as guilty for closing down rides when there's a long ass line for them
I believe the Shaytards were at Disneyland the same day as Rhett's family, because I remember Shay vlogging the Thunder Mountain situation haha
That's why you go to disneyWorld LOL!
Yesterday I just came back from Florida and went to Disney world and it sucked for our family. There's this new thing that you can BOOK your rides ahead of time and we wasted about 500$ on Disney. But if you go to universal studios that was fun.

I went to Disneyland last year. I waited in line for over an hour for the Haunted Mansion before we the power went out and consistently went out while we were on the ride.
We go 2nd week in Dec. Lowest crowds all the time
I have been to Disneyland Paris three times, and EVERY time. Big Thunder Mountain stopped working.. They need to sort out this ride everywhere!
Life:
-Went to big thunder mountain railroad.
Also, they didn't know how long BTMR would be closed, because they had just spent 2 years in refurbishment.
Kayla Platt I think we can agree that Disney _World_ is DA BOMB
Yaaaas
Omg,hearing that he went during spring break killed me. It's common sense: when everybody else is gonna go on vacation, don't follow the crowd!
I remember going to Universal Studios a few years ago, and I and my family were waiting in line for the Jurassic Park ride when they shut it down for technical difficulties too.

lucky i want to go to Disney again
I went to Disney World and Universal in early May and I was able to walk on to every ride multiple times including the Harry Potter attraction area in Universal (which usually experiences BAD lines!).
According to Rhett's story Disney World is better than Disney Land during spring break. I've only been to Disney world.
I have a lot of experience with disney. i used to go every week. When it comes to crowded days, you have to plan your day strategically. winter time right after winter break is a perfect time. not many people and the weather is amazing.

When me and my mom went to DCA, we just sat at Paradise Pier and watched people. Also I took pictures.
I love Disneyland!! California Screaming and Hollywood Tower of Terror are the best rides!!
that's crazy the line for California screaming is always like 25 minutes long and I go at Christmas time
always go closer to the end of the summer or in the middle of the school year but not during vacation it is actually really fun so just try next year ive gone 3 times and had fun each time
My family never goes to disneyland in the summer cause it does suck during the summer. We always go in like January on a Wednesday. One time we walked onto almost every ride. It's freaking awesome during the school year, but SUCKS during the summer, unless you go in the middle of the week.
😂😂😂ily guys 😂😂
I went to Disneyworld a couple years ago, it was terrible. It was really hot and crowded and we didn't get any fast passes. I rode two rides: Space Mountain and The Tower of Terror. Then it started pouring rain and when we went to look for our rental car we couldn't find it. So we were out in the rain(thunder and lightning as well) for a good 30 minutes. That was my Disney experience......
Pretty important to check the busiest dates for Disneyland before going. It's amazing during sept/october weekdays.
Don't tell the people of youtube that!
It'll make it more crowded during those days.

Yeah, like the majority of youtube commenters leave their houses... (including myself) :D
