    Walt's nervousness here actually helps his cover. It makes him appear clueless and maybe a little naive about a potential meth head raid. Just a sheepish and overly trusting teacher who got taken advantage of.

      Absolutely. It would have also helped when Gale was killed. Walter could have told Hank that he knew him and that he reached out to him recently asking for advice on something he was working on. He could say his journal looked familiar and that he thought Gale was working on a formula for a more potent and cost-efficient form of Adderall or Desoxyn, but Gale was being particularly evasive about it. He could then say he gave him some pointers on how to increase purity and Gale was really excited and gifted him a book. He could then add that the last time he spoke to him Gale seemed nervous about something. This would paint the picture that Walt was Naive about what Gale was doing and by describing him as an intelligent and seemingly gentle soul, he would never have suspected he was a meth cook. It also would technically give Walt the credit for Gale's "Breakthrough" that made him the best meth cook in America without Walt actually getting in trouble for it. He could even play the scared old man who thinks Hank will have to arrest him for helping Gale just to seal the deal. Hank, being who he is, would probably believe Walt and just let the investigation into his association with Gale end there.

      Probably not unless they had a history of thefts of items worth enough to justify the expense or had a severe violence problem in the school where they had to regularly identify who stabbed who. It's really in just barely the last 10 to 15 years that phones that could record video became so ubiquitous that schools needed their own video record because they were getting outed by students and needed their own video evidence.

    BB , one of my all time favourites. BUT the "need' for Hank to BB BECAUSE he has a cancer is not necessary. He just found his mojo, at the expense of everyone else. Most of the criminals/idiots/narcissists I've met in life are that way: they don't need an "excuse". Even the Canadian drunks that volunteered for "NAM': they were druggies looking for a crutch/story long long before they went to war.

      It was necessary. It had two narrative purposes, which tie into one another.
      First was that it was the kick he needed to push him over the edge, the second was that it gave him a time limit that made him stay on that edge, making him more erratic with every day that passes.
      Admittedly, the ending could have leaned on it a lot more. I know subtlety and all that but maybe just a couple of overt lines like "I'm running out of time." would've made it stronger.

      It was pretty clear from early on that he didn't need to do it at all.
      Gretchen and Elliot offered him a legal way to pay for his bills but he rejected them in favor of being a drug dealer.

    The first time I watched this show… I binged it… I mean I was hooked, it wasn’t until the second time around when I watched that it that you start noticing things you didn’t the first time around
    Hank always suspected Walt…. He always made slight little comments, always questioned Walt, after this scene he never stopped accusing Walt even if it was a “joke”
    I never liked Hanks character in the show, he acted thought and he was charming fella
    When really he was bully

    • @horohorosrin
      @horohorosrin Месяц назад +2

      No, he didn't. If he suspected Walt, he wouldn't be making a joke about it. He wouldn't be making a peep about it. Besides that, if he'd already suspected him, he wouldn't have had that entire massive *shock* when he really did find out later.

    • @EvansEasyJapanese
      @EvansEasyJapanese Месяц назад +13

      That's very much NOT what happened in this scene. Walter wanted to know who the snitch was / was surprised he was being spied on. Hank accidentally assumed Walt's shock was ignorance. Walt saw the opportunity to act befuddled and took it.

      The joke was lost in translation. Cutting onions makes you cry, and Hank said Carmen's butt was "like an onion, it makes me want to cry", so it is a compliment.
