What's great about this band is how great every member was. Roger Taylor's vocals on the chorus, it's easy to forget how vital he was to Queen's sound.

I was an EMT back in 80/81 when this song was popular and back before helicopter transport. I was driving for a Paramedic transport of a very sick patient from Green Bay to UW Madison Medical Center. About ten minutes away, the patient starts crashing and at the same time this song starts playing!!! LOL We got the patient to the center ALIVE!!!
I think I read somewhere that there was a movie crew filming the Montreal ‘81 concerts and Freddie did not like the rules they were giving him and especially didn’t like how they were instructing the audience not to interact with the band during the performance. So Freddie did things to deliberately piss off the movie people, including gradually wearing less and less clothing as the concert progressed. Makes me laugh every time I see these videos!

No, Queen did not perform this song on Live-Aid. There is however another video of Queen performing this song live during the 80s, AFTER Live-Aid, also at Wembley stadium when they went on tour. Is an extended version of the song. Look it up. John Deacon shows why he was one of the best bass players in that video.

When I saw them in concert, can't remember which time, they had the Marshall stacks on either side of the stage set up in tiers, and Freddie ran up and down them like stairs, all while singing. Back and forth, back and forth, across the stage, up, down, across the stage, up down. The athleticism was amazing, and he never seemed out of breath.

💥 The fun fact about those shorts Freddie is wearing was that he was annoyed with the film production & security for telling the audience to behave during filming. It was a two-night concert so Freddie wore the shorts to break continuity with the filming cuz they were going to edit both nights together. Basically, Freddie F’d with the production! Also heard that the audience volume was turned down, too so it appears that the crowd is more quiet … not true for those who were there!! This concert was recorded over a couple of nights in November 1981. They played Montreal in August of 1980 the first time. They were in New York at the Garden in September on the 28th, 29th & 30th. I saw them there on the 28th.

It's a really small arena around 2,500-3,000 seats. In fact the night I saw heart was the day Elvis died, they dedicated the last song of the encore to him. It was Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll. The Queen show at the Garden was featured in the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" when the hit the US big time. Brian said in an interview that his father would've rather he continued his education instead of playing music. He invited his parents to New York, flew them over on the Concorde, for those MSG shows, the bands first time there, and his dad said "Okay, now I get it" in response to the way the audience reacted to the band.

I’ve been a Queen and Freddie Mercury fan since the early ‘70’s and I am glad that people who weren’t even around back then are appreciating Queen and Freddie now. That’s the enjoyable thing about art-it can be appreciated by anyone at any time. I think Queen’s music will continue to be loved long after those of us who have been their fans since the beginning are long gone.

The album "The Game" , is IMHO a fantastic set of songs beginning to end! Great reactions. Keep on truckin' Jamel.
When I saw them in concert, can't remember which time, they had the Marshall stacks on either side of the stage set up in tiers, and Freddie ran up and down them like stairs, all while singing. Back and forth, back and forth, across the stage, up, down, across the stage, up down. The athleticism was amazing, and he never seemed out of breath.
This is so good. I can't get over the variety of music that was created between 75 and 95. Crazy time to grow up. I love your reactions brother.

That bass makes this song. Actually, all parts came together perfectly to make this song the hit that it was/is. I think during LiveAid, Freddie was really sick. That may have been the difference in the two performances.
Freddie was fine, maybe a bit of a sore throat.
I think he knew he was sick long before he ever told anyone.
Freddie had a throat issue and he was told by his doctor not to sing but in true Freddie fashion he ignored the doctor and went on and the Live Aid performance was born

💥 The fun fact about those shorts Freddie is wearing was that he was annoyed with the film production & security for telling the audience to behave during filming. It was a two-night concert so Freddie wore the shorts to break continuity with the filming cuz they were going to edit both nights together. Basically, Freddie F’d with the production! Also heard that the audience volume was turned down, too so it appears that the crowd is more quiet … not true for those who were there!! There’s a moment in the concert where Freddie tells the audience that “it’s okay to move your arses around”. 🤣🤣 I like the shorts!! 🥰

Freddie would have become Sir Freddie if things had been different. The band were blessed with a wonderful frontman who will be remembered forever.

Freddie's duet with Michael on "There Must Be More to Life Than This" is (a kind of) magic. Funnily, Freddie was about 12 years older than Michael, but Michael had started performing 5 years before Freddie had joined Queen. Nonetheless, arguably the two best male vocalists of all time.

This concert was recorded over a couple of nights in November 1981. They played Montreal in August of 1980 the first time. They were in New York at the Garden in September on the 28th, 29th & 30th. I saw them there on the 28th.

@@jimilove7773 That's a good deal. I saw Heart in 1977, Styx in1978 & Southside Johnny in 1983 in Convention Hall on the boardwalk in Asbury Park, New Jesey. It's a really small arena around 2,500-3,000 seats. In fact the night I saw heart was the day Elvis died, they dedicated the last song of the encore to him. It was Led Zeppelin's Rock and Roll.
The Queen show at the Garden was featured in the movie "Bohemian Rhapsody" when the hit the US big time. Brian said in an interview that his father would've rather he continued his education instead of playing music. He invited his parents to New York, flew them over on the Concorde, for those MSG shows, the bands first time there, and his dad said "Okay, now I get it" in response to the way the audience reacted to the band.

I’ve been a Queen and Freddie Mercury fan since the early ‘70’s and I am glad that people who weren’t even around back then are appreciating Queen and Freddie now. That’s the enjoyable thing about art-it can be appreciated by anyone at any time. I think Queen’s music will continue to be loved long after those of us who have been their fans since the beginning are long gone.
