Hey guys, if you've wondering where I've been, it's making this video. Have a good one! - Ben (Pavise)
I hope Viz Media localizes at least one of the Fire Emblem mangas at some point, along with the Metroid manga, just like how they have done with the Legend Of Zelda, Pokemon and Splatoon mangas.
I hope so too, because I read a plethora of Fire Emblem doujins based on Three Houses including some INTERESTING ones that has the female Byleth and Dimitri... you know.
I would honestly love to see an anime adaptation of Crown of Nibelung as well, or just any FE anime adaptation in general tbh (never forget mystery of the emblem anime)
I know there was already a Gaiden manga... But God, I would really love to read an Echoes adaptation, with all the new characters and designs. I only want to see "UNCLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE" on paper, sorry.
Actually surprised you didn’t mention more of the 4Koma series that both Fates and Echoes (and maybe even Awakening?) got recently. I bought the Echoes one and it’s really fun. It’s also cool how the FE6 manga illustrator basically only draws FE6/7 units in both Heroes and Cipher, feels like they really let him keep on spreading the passion he had for those two in particular. Incredible video as always
after just reading the Awakening manga (at least, a brief summary of each story) and getting a glimpse of the artstyle, I can say this series deserves more attention, guess not a lot of attention because people saw this series as some kind of "waifu war-esque" series (most likely Fates/Awakening, no hate on those who like it though, as I too like these games) without really getting into it.
Wait what about the fire emblem heroes manga even though it’s short and comedy base I think it’s technically classified as a manga But other than that great vid definitely going to read some of these
OH BOY THIS WAS WORTH THE WAIT Even as a long time fan of the series, this taught me so much. Not to mention the video quality IS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH, GOOD LORD THIS IS GOOD
The Oosawa manga is just brilliant. Can't think of many other times I found a manga so gripping. I've been following the scanlation project for 4-5 years now and each new chapter still gets me excited. Highly addictive stuff! Great job covering this obscure yet wonderful side of FE
I've got to give it to the fate's Manga writer, Leo as the star works due to him having a natural character that is the most consistent through out all three versions. Good job on this video by the way, and yes I saw the Podghast.
The depth and scope of this video is unreal. Bravo, Pavise! Also, I had no idea that Alm had such a dark manga adaption. Almost feel sorry for Desaix lol
I actually randomly found the Gaiden manga on the stream of hundreds of uploads pr day on MangaDex when that site was just getting running. It was pretty interesting, even if it was very hard to tell characters apart from each other.
I would've LOVED to have a Three Houses manga drawn by Masashi Kishimoto, but I think that he's got a *lot* on his plate as it is with the ongoing Boruto manga. Plus, if he *did* do a Three Houses manga, I can just imagine his take on the infamous Gronder Field battle in both Azure Moon and Verdant Wind.
One thing I don't recall you mentioning (but I could be wrong) is some of the pre 2001 mangas differences from the source material was due to writers basing their version off their playtnhrough of the game and how they interpreted the story. A really neat concept. Of course this only explains some of the changes.
It could be distorted hear-say, but I certainly remember bits and peices such as kliff dying and cutting a character from geneology because the auther missed the character, but consider it nothing more than a rumor until I can find a source tomorrow.
Darn, I can't seem to find the original sources, either A) I can't find the sites I got the info from B) The sites I used no longer have the info available due to it being deemed false. C) My memory is worse than I realise. Sorry to get your hopes up :( If anyone else can find info on it, please help us out here.
The quality of this video is just downright astonishing you deserve more subscribers tbh, this is the kind of content I live for. This video was not a waste of 27 minutes and 28 seconds.
I am currently reading the 1996 Genealogy adaptation and it's SO GOOD! I have planned on reading that Binding Blade manga afterwards, the story looks really fun. This is certainly not a easy topic to speak of, it's quite difficult to find some information or even some decent manga scans of these adaptations, older Fire Emblem related things tend to fall into obscurity, and this is a great thing you've done. Good work. I really feel bad for those unfinished mangas tho, it's just like the FE Ovas....
Hi! Thanks for crediting us at Fala Scans! Oosawa's manga didn't actually adapt the entire game - it ended at Alvis' defeat at Chalphy and didn't ever renew to finish the final battle at Barhara. Also, Fuyuki's Arion was still male. ^^; Honestly, I think if the manga all had more time, they could have been so much more amazing. What we did get though was great and good for publicity at the time - at least for the Japanese fandom, and the popularity of it there brought it into Smash which brought it outside of Japan. I agree there's a feeling of love for the source material in all the manga, and even if they weren't all complete, they were so amazing for what they were. Just seeing the passion of it all made me want to get my hands on most of what I could, and I hope there's a future for this series in manga.
Thanks for correcting me on my mistakes. I'm gonna make a follow up video with some corrections as I don't want to spread misinformation. Thanks for all your hard work!
I've heard how you feel about this video on the podghast vid recently and I just wanted to say. Although this video may have not preformed as well as you may have liked. You did a FANTASTIC JOB on this video. I myself had known there were fe mangas out there, I had no idea there were this many and I highly enjoyed learning about them. Keep up the good work
Damn, the history of FE Manga is more deep than I thought. I didn't realise just how many adaptations there were. Such a shame most of them were cancelled. So glad you mentioned Crown of Nibelung though. My friend and I have been keeping our eye on it, and I'm loving how it improves on the story so much. Seriously people, definitely recommend giving it a read
There’s a lot of research going on behind your videos, and I personally really like your editing style. This was so interesting to watch, so many things I didn’t know... Keep up the good work!
After finishing the video I can easily say this is one of my favorite videos you’ve made. Super entertaining and makes me want to check out all the FE manga I can
So hearing about and then reading Fire Emblem: Hasha no Tsurugi/champion's sword. I would kill to see a GBA rom hack based on the manga's story. If I knew how to mod or had the time to start a new project, I know what to make.
The fe4 manga is legitimately one of the best pieces of media I have ever read. I highly suggest it to pretty much anyone. You can find the translations on serenesforest.net
Ik this had little too morning to do with fire emblem but mad respect to the authors that left Enix because they don't wanna be apart of the super mega fan service that Enix was trying to make them do
There was an official manga adaptation of Awakening running from June 2012 to 2013 in issues of Nintendo Dream magazine that was made by Aki Misuzu (or Misuzu Aki) and lasted 11 chp. and the last issue included a commemorative booklet including extras such as development sketches, interviews, and comments by members of the development team. The manga contained short tales from different points of view in different chapters of Awakening (even one from Cherche's wyvern, Minerva) some actually add to Awakening's story, like how Marth beat Lon'qu while others were expansions on some support conversations or silly little stories. Just wanted to add this to history of Fire Emblem Manga, 2012-2013 Source: fireemblem.fandom.com/wiki/Fire_Emblem_Awakening_(manga) Note: Got it from Fandom
Good catch, I actually knew about that one, but for the life of me of I can remember why I excluded it from the video. There was a reason though I swear, just can't remember.
The quality on your videos is something else my man. Judging from how you've talked about it here and in other videos I was wondering do you expressly dislike Fates or maybe just not your favorite in the series? Either way, big fan.
Since Awakening was my first game and I fell in love with it, I really built up hype for Fates when it was released and it didn't meet those absurd expectations. So it's mostly my own fault. Overall I just find the game extremely underwhelming. I don't hate it, but I'm not a fan either.
i've read 4 Fire Emblem manga. from what i've read i'd rank them as followed. #4. Nea Fuyuki's Light Inheritors. that first chapter was amazing and made me interested to see how the writer would follow up on it. anti-violence Seliph witnesses an evil mage kill a child then he snaps. i was interested in seeing how Seliph would develop, especially when he faced enemies who weren't all evil. but no, the whole thing just devolves into a ship fest instead. talk about wasted potential. #3. Hiroshi Izawa's Hasha no Tsurugi. it's been a while since i read this one so i don't remember it too well. but i think Al, the main character, was not that far off from being a generic shonen protagonist. now he wasn't too bad. he definitely could've been much worse. but when it comes to shonen protagonists i've seen much better from a lot of other works. other than this it's a good manga and i highly recommend it. #2. Maki Hakoda's Ankokuryuu to Hikari no Ken. i can't think of much to say about this one. it's good. that's pretty much all i can think to say. i wouldn't say it's spectacular or anything like that but you certainly won't be disappointed if you read this. #1. Mitsuki Oosawa's Seisen no Keifu. the art is okay, nothing spectacular but okay. what really makes this manga fantastic is the writing, especially the characters. this is my one of my most favorite manga of all time. Mitsuki Oosawa is a literary genius and Intelligent System should consider hiring her to write future Fire Emblem games.
this is a really good video! so informative and also good editing. my current favorite video of yours so far. great job on this! :D i've only read Maki Hakoda's manga myself and it's a really good read but.........i'm just so sad when they did 'that' to Abel so i stopped for a moment lol. thanks to this now i can continue reading the manga, i didn't know that it's canceled :"(( anyway thank you so much for this, and keep up the good work!
I found this video and your channel by complete happenstance when I was doing my usual stroll through RUclips. Very interesting and great content you have. I briefly remember seeing a few panels of the Fates manga a while ago, but I thought it was something fan made. Turns out it was official and now I am interested in checking these out when I can.
This is a truly amazing video and we can feel all the work and dedication you've poured into it. I've discovered and learnt a lot of things so thank you for your great work !
Wonderful video, very enjoyable and interesting to learn about. The only criticisms I have are the sometimes slightly drawn-out or overdone effects (the flickering and such) and the pronounciation of many of the Japanese names was pretty far off of how they should sound. Everything else was great and I'd love if you made more content like this, assuming you had as much fun making it as I did watching it.
Yeah my pronounciation was really off but I tried my best :( In terms of editing I feel you on the effects, but this is my first real jab at something like this so I'm still learning. I'll try to rein it in a little next time 👍
Im surprised you didnt cover that Awakening comic which was released through Nintendo Dream or something. It covers 10 different mini stories centering around a specific character. For instance, the is on centered around Donnel which touches on his dark past, and another showing the hilarious reason as to why Lonqu lost his duel and title as Basilio's champion against "Marth". Its on serenes if anyone here wants to check it out. serenesforest.net/gallery/manga/official-fire-emblem-awakening-comic/ Oh also the Sacred Stones comic exists, but noone gives a about about that thing anyway. So whatever.
The Gaiden manga's liberties which were taken really are pretty intereseting and somewhat entertaining. It really is quite interesting and is a nice quick read.
Wow that Fire Emblem Fates Manga starting Leo sounds like the Fire Emblem Fates game we all needed, but never got. Hearing the short Story summary it already sounds better than the story of the game, i need to read it now
I'm not surprised for the lack of manga in the 2005-2012 Period... After all; the Series enter a dark age after several good games being ignored; and the franchise essencially going low budget during the DS Age (and FE getting its first properly scrapped and abandoned game during that period... At least FE 64 give resources to work with BB and PoR; specially the former). But the lack of Awakening Manga is the strange part... I will never understand that. I wonder if Shin and Kozaki ended up helping in some way to early development of the Leo's manga.
I really enjoyed this video! I started reading Crown of Nibelung a few months ago but stopped since I got busy ;-; But for the chapters I read, I really enjoyed it, and I loved reading and noting the changes, and like you said those were definitely for the better. Iago is a better and more interesting villain, Leo’s character dynamic is amazing, and seeing all the characters’ reactions and storytelling is breathtaking to see in manga form. I think the fact that they used female Corrin also made the manga more enjoyable to read as well :P
Samuel Wolch The manga currently isn’t available in the west unfortunately, but there is a great fan translation! kudarite.tumblr.com/post/156782809982/hey-if-anyones-interested-in-reading-the
It was weird seeing Dark Horse producing a short comic on the intro for Sacred Stones but it would of been great if they had picked it up and continued doing it so the west had something to look forward to and read
Speaking of which, I saw a guy that's busy making a manga that shows how Dimitri lost his right eye as well as his descent into madness. You can find the manga on Pixiv.
I'm actually currently in school for game design. In terms of my graphics they are mostly a result of trying to do RUclips for years and striving to make them look better with each video. Constant practice always breeds improvement, although actual graphic designers could probably find a lot of holes in my visual design work.
No mention of the Oosawa manga's most controversial change? It's pretty infamous for the author being a blatant Eldigan/Lachesis shipper and replacing Eldigan's wife with a different character named Iria who mainly exists to be an evil bitch who hates Lachesis. Her reaction to Eldigan's DEATH is to laugh at how miserable Lachesis must be. Eldigan and Lachesis had definite incest subtext in the game, but it was mostly one-sided from her, in this version they're passionately in love with eachother and hope to be reincarnated as not-siblings. So if you don't like incest... yeah.
You forgot to mention that Eldie's death being the final push that drives Lachesis out of her arrogant princess status and, after a strenous period of depression and even self-harm, leads her to work hard with Finn and become a Master Knight. Her character development was much cooler than a "ship" you think the author liked.
Is there an English dub to the Fates manga and is there a way to buy it? Edited: Never mind in the first part, where can I get this? Is it available online to buy?
The Fates Manga is japanese only unfortunately. Using the Japanese Amazon site, you can purchase volume 1 I believe (still japanese only). Other than that, there's a small group of people who have translated the existing chapters and uploaded them to tumblr and twitter.
Fun fact: I started reading online the Oozawa manga before playing FE4, just to decide which couples to pair together in gen 1. I got hooked so bad, but the translators had seemedly stopped at volume 13 so I bought the last 4 volumes, 13 to 16, to finish reading it myself since I know Japanese. It doesn't cover the entirety of thr game. Volume 16 only covers up to chapter 10, leaving The Last Holy War out. Also, the ending... kinda sucks, lol. No spoilers, but be prepared for lots of 90s anime cliches.
If Fates can be improved with a manga, then how about Heroes adapted into a manga? I'd actually like to see the story adapted in a way that is more cohesive and establishes a stronger narrative.
how was “my castle” “none sense”? it worked pretty well and it was greatly received not to mention it could easily work even from a story perspective ones you take into account that “Fates” themes could also be about time and space just cause a manga tries to be more stream line and not follow in its origins does not make it “none sense” except maybe the whole deal with the children

Should give Hrid Ignis then 😂

Hino Shinnosuke actually came back and drew the artwork for DLC Catria from Awakening. He also did the artwork for Leo and Takumi in heroes.
That explains why I felt I had seen that artstyle before XDU
I think he also did Legendary Leif
Ben you slayed it here. You been talking about this since we had dinner at AN. Good job.

Too bad Kliff didn't get his dream of being impaled on the same lance as his buddies.
Choice Snarf I like to think that was an intentional reference.
Jonah J I just realized that that may have been the case.
The scene where Alm decapitated Desaix and puts his head on a pike is still gruesome, yet beautiful.
I hope Viz Media localizes at least one of the Fire Emblem mangas at some point, along with the Metroid manga, just like how they have done with the Legend Of Zelda, Pokemon and Splatoon mangas.

I wonder if Oosawa is still doing manga and/or artwork.
I hope so.
this is a really good video! so informative and also good editing. my current favorite video of yours so far. great job on this! :D
i've only read Maki Hakoda's manga myself and it's a really good read but.........i'm just so sad when they did 'that' to Abel so i stopped for a moment lol. thanks to this now i can continue reading the manga, i didn't know that it's canceled :"((
anyway thank you so much for this, and keep up the good work!
This is very amazingly edited...way to go!
Just dropping by to say that this is an excellent video and probably my favorite documentary type video I’ve seen on FE. Great work
I never knew fire emblem fates started a new manga. Now that's something I learned, time to read it
Oof you sold me on that Fates manga
I didn't even realize that it existed, so this video was a pleasant surprise after bringing it up
I can tell how much passion and effort went into this video! It's really informative
Histori of fire emblem manga in 1 word or les: canceled!
I remember loving Maki Hadoka’s manga....The way she portrayed Marth and his bond with his sister and knights were so good!
I was 3 months old when kadokawa shoten series ended 3:35
5:28, so that's why Kliff isn't in heroes.
This is a truly amazing video and we can feel all the work and dedication you've poured into it. I've discovered and learnt a lot of things so thank you for your great work !
God tier video. Love the editing.
Yeah my pronounciation was really off but I tried my best :(
In terms of editing I feel you on the effects, but this is my first real jab at something like this so I'm still learning. I'll try to rein it in a little next time 👍
Oosawa Manga best FE game adaptation tbh
Woah that's DifferentFight in the credits, wasn't expecting a CFV youtuber.

Oh also the Sacred Stones comic exists, but noone gives a about about that thing anyway. So whatever.
Fucc I need a PoR manga
The Gaiden manga's liberties which were taken really are pretty intereseting and somewhat entertaining. It really is quite interesting and is a nice quick read.
Wow that Fire Emblem Fates Manga starting Leo sounds like the Fire Emblem Fates game we all needed, but never got.
Hearing the short Story summary it already sounds better than the story of the game, i need to read it now
This was very informational and i like it. Also thanks to you i now know there's a fates manga that's out lol
Say, here's an idea for a hack: Adapt Champion's Blade into a GBA FE game. And for maximum authenticity, make it an FE6 hack.
This video was nicely edited. I might need to check out of some of these manga (and continue reading the FE4 manga as I really like it so far)
(17:37) WOW.. the art is stunning.
Great work! I enjoyed watching this a lot. The long Geneology manga got me interested now.
I think the fact that they used female Corrin also made the manga more enjoyable to read as well :P
lea r. Where can you get the Manga?
Samuel Wolch The manga currently isn’t available in the west unfortunately, but there is a great fan translation! kudarite.tumblr.com/post/156782809982/hey-if-anyones-interested-in-reading-the
I wonder why so many Fire Emblem manga got cancelled.
It was weird seeing Dark Horse producing a short comic on the intro for Sacred Stones but it would of been great if they had picked it up and continued doing it so the west had something to look forward to and read
lets hope they make one for three houses!
Speaking of which, I saw a guy that's busy making a manga that shows how Dimitri lost his right eye as well as his descent into madness.
You can find the manga on Pixiv.
Are you a graphic designer? All of your videos look visually great
I'm actually currently in school for game design. In terms of my graphics they are mostly a result of trying to do RUclips for years and striving to make them look better with each video. Constant practice always breeds improvement, although actual graphic designers could probably find a lot of holes in my visual design work.
A fates manga that gets things right? Never thought I would hear it. I need to find it.
No spoilers, but be prepared for lots of 90s anime cliches.
did it get axed before chapter 11 could be adapted or was that the authors choice?
So that jump FE manga was published by Shueisha?
M e n a c i n g ly surprising.
you telling me their was a fire emblem manga that wasnt all the hentai that came out ages ago?
Huh. Never woulda thunk.
When the Manga adaptation is better than the game itself.
19:13 (Lenny Face)
I've only read Hasha no Tsurugi... and honestly, it ain't as bad as people say IMO.
11:48 so genealogy if fates localization
