In this Project, I have made a simple buck convertor using LM2576 regulator, which guaranteed supply 3A output current and can output 1.3V to 37V with 40V input supply and proper heatsink.
I have used the regulator to step down 12.6v which output 1.3V to 12.3V with 3A output current. Also LM2576 provide a very good efficieny(77%) compared to linear voltage regulators.
The LM2576 series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits ideally suited for easy and convenient design of a step−down
    switching regulator (buck converter).
Since the LM2576 converter is a switch−mode power supply, its efficiency is significantly higher in comparison with popular
three−terminal linear regulators, especially with higher input voltages.

⚠️IF YOU ARE NEW TO ELECTRONICS PLEASE BE CAREFUL WITH SOLDERING IRON (IT CAN EASILY BURN YOUR SKIN) AND DO NOT START WITH ⚡HIGH VOLTAGE(AC), STICK WITH LOW VOLTAGE (BATTERIES) UNTIL YOU GAIN SOME EXPERIENCE.

Can I connect the OUTPUT 2 pin to something other than the coil and diode? To something that will control the connection between the battery and the coil and diode. Depending on the signal on pin 2, something will connect and disconnect the battery from the coil and diode. Will I achieve, for example, 10A with an LM2596t which has a max of 3A

Bro. Which diode can replace this IN5822, here in Brazil and it is difficult to find this one? Thank you

You can use SS32 or B340A diode instead of IN5822. All through these are smd diode but should work.

All you need is 40v 3amp schottky diode. It will do its job
