What an awesome remake of this classic Dyaln tune by the master himself. Dylan just turned 80. My God I am getting freaking old. I learned to play this song on guitar when it first came out. The year was 1969. Of course, my mom, also a guitar player, hated the song. In her later years she learned to like it. The subject matter was just to close to home I think in 1969. The entertainment industry will go dark the day that Bob Dylan dies. His passing will leave a hole in my universe.

One of the romantic songs ever.... It's not about sex, just pure love. "Whatever colors you have in your mind, I'll show them to you and you'll see them shine."
I believe it’s about a woman’s orgasm. Many women speak of seeing colors during orgasm. Ever watched A Street Car Named Desire when Marlon Brandon is telling Stella he will help her see those pretty colors in her head? Yea. Someone remarked earlier that this was not about sex. Oh baby it’s about sex.. and desire… and maybe love. It’s a great song. He is telling her in romantic prose want he wants. I’ll bet he got laid.
Bob really just needed his guitar, his voice, some simple backing instrumentation, and nothing more. He let the songwriting do the rest. No need for huge productions and swirling violins, if you have something to say from the heart. you really get to the essence of his brilliance with these stripped down versions.
So pure a ballad. Lyrics you could not pay for. Melody you could not buy. He sings of a lady that we cannot fathom. Lady, this is the best song ever written for you.
My father was a sewer contractor. My mother was a virtuous woman. First thing home, he washed his body and took her to the bedroom. He heard this song with me one day And was awestruck by beauty Of the lyrics and our artist, Dylan.
Bob, if this were the only thing you ever did, it would be enough all by itself; yet you did so much more. You're a national treasure and we love you! All good wishes.
He was stopped by police in Central Park just a few years ago. They didn't know who he was, thought he was homeless, and offered to help him if he needed it, just checking on the grubby homeless guy. Hahaha He thought it was nice of them at the time. They didn't find out til others read thier report. They didn't even know him by name. True Story.

Well yes, but Dylan's Songs (lyrics) are rarely as one-dimensional as that. Except maybe for the anthems to Sara, the first of which, I Want You, is an expression of pure love.
