your biggest problem is the speed upon which that water comes down your hills. That trench by the horse barn is a really fast run and that speed will destroy the concrete. Concrete is a good idea, however you might want to step it so it slows it down and maybe not erode the concrete so fast. Make steps to let the fast water go down step by step so it does not hit the culvert with so much speed. You also need to find all of the areas you get pounded to save what you already have, just like you did when u were pumping water from your river, into the pond and you created a little creek with rocks to keep the erosion down to a minimum. Just a thought from someone who has dealt with a lot of flooding.... Make it go where YOU want, not where it wants. Zion Creek Farm had the same problem, Sean created little creeks to keep the runoff from eroding his barn and under cutting. Now when it rains, the water goes where he has sent it instead of pounding the barn. Just a thought, but you have a bad erosion situation around your horse barn, and I am sure you have others as you do live in a hilly area. Another thought, you might want to consider stepping your slope on the way to the river before you lose it. I hope you can ask the questions to solve your problem, you are right, until you see it, you will not realize how powerful your runoff is. You should maybe show these people that come out to see your videos, like they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. You are fortunate enough to have videoed it. Just my two cents, I take flooding very seriously, what seems like a little thing, can quickly shrink your properties size. Good luck, my prayers are with you.
I was thinking the same thing. Because of the erosion that's happening all over keeps getting worse. To make small areas of creeks and go where they want it to go. And I was also thinking of a way they can make or build something at each property to make things a bit higher like they did at iss by the pond. But on the morrow hill the family needs to come to asap to think of plans of higher areas. L.E and Megan's house is higher so that did not flood. The low areas around the hill can have dirt brought it. Somehow and build higher grounds. Our home and yard in Illinois floods we trenches out areas and put smaller kind of pipe with gravel under it and trenches it all the way past our home capped it with a pop up so that the water goes else where. Buried all the piping and kept over seeding and raking it in each time and seed more. The fast growing grass landscapers use. Along with other types . and never mowed or watered our yard at the hottest time of day.
Concrete on both front and back of the pond with overflow pipe through it extending toward your ditch with concrete underneath the driveway (kinda like the water canal’s in California ) into your ditch going to the river.
I like the way men in Texas tip their hats when they see a lady my boyfriends family was from Kentucky and he would do it to me when frist started dating and he would take his hat off when he opened the door for me
I watched your video Lester and I Cldnt believe how clean the baby was and then realised he was only half way out that was so amazing…loved the video thanks guys… isn’t that what pawpaw used to buy Heidi…
You two are the cutest couple ever. Yall just make me smile so much. And so clearly are still attracted to each other and love each other. I makes my heart feel full to see it.
I was raised in Michigan, but lived in Kentucky 20 years. When I decided what I wanted at Dairy Queen I stepped op to the counter. The lady asked asked me what I wanted and called me "baby" and I forgot what I wanted. I was probably in my 40's
I enjoy Jami’s facial expressions when Lester does starts talking himself into a corner. Jami makes these videos so fun. Lester, don’t you ever lose her.
Listening to the problems, you have two major issues; channeling the water and getting the runoff water to flow where you want it. The answer lies between the two. Praying you find the answers you seek. God’s blessings
Replay: you 2 crack me up! Great beginning, middle, and end. I'm here for life so count me as 1. Mr. Hank, meow love you😻. Senorita is a smart, young, feisty, did I mention young, and beautiful playgirl filly. Starbuck is so handsome and it's still hard to believe that Starla is a mom..such a good one too. Btw: talking about when/if is actually a good thing...my family and I have. We know what is wanted by each of us...especially my dad and I. Good to be in the know. Miss Diana's Billy goat is so good looking and i cant wsit to meet his babies..Rose is looking like bag reports will be happening soon. 💜💜💜
You both are right about the spillway issues. Along with fixing the spillway, you also need a major ditch at the top of the property behind the barn and greenhouse that routes the water to the river so that you don't have so much runoff or any channeling across the yard fences annd pasture leading to the ponds. You need to stabilize the ditching with growing trees, plants and shrubs that use up the water. My dad who farmed hill country in NW Michigan had roads like yours to the river only for him it was to drive his tractors and sometimes cows from one field to another. There also was a low area with a pond that would sometimes cross over the small road so there was pondy area's on both sides. He used a native species of cattails to soak up the water on both sides of his road and it worked along with throwing peices of old brick and boards in the lowest, wettest part of the road. Cattails also filter and purify the water. I know your situation is different, I got carried away with memories of my dad who passed 15 years ago. I think if you ditch along the top of the property behind the buildings, initially stabilize the banks with seeding grass and introducing a native cattail species which will spread on its own. Cattail roots are also edible. Maybe near the end of the pond after all your work is completed, consider a couple of willow trees. Not only will the roots hold those banks together but they drink up a lot of water.
The clear pond, has the right bacteria to be clear. A trick from pet shops is to put some of that clear water pond into the other ponds. Shops induce water from balanced tanks to new ones, good bacteria takes over. I would place a couple of gallons from the clear pond into the other ponds. If it works , you have a no cost solution.
I went to Virginia (I'm from So California) for a horse riding academy and I went to dinner alone. The waitress called my Darling in a way that melted me. I'm retiring with my family to Virginia. Nice people in horse country that talk dreamily.
When my husband and I started dating, he would call me PL (for Pretty Lady) or Kitten and I thought it was cute and special until I found out it wasn’t. I overheard him in a phone conversation with a co-worker and he said “Ok, PL, I’ll talk to you later Kitten ” I was so taken aback. I then told him to never use those terms of endearment with me, because they weren’t really in reference to me. I never heard him use those expressions with anybody ever again. My term for endearment was “Baby” and I only used that term in reference to him. No one else was every Baby to me. (We had both been married previously and since it was later in our lives, there were no kids to call Baby). I had called my first husband Honey or Sweetie which are still the terms I use for those near and dear to me. I get you, Jami!
Just now getting to watch your Live.. I'm always late to the party.. I love your videos from JL Ranch.. The property is such a slice of heaven.. I could watch those for hours..Hope you and Jami have a great weekend, we love you both and of course all the beautiful animals.. God bless
Lester, I totally agree with the terms of endearment.. My wife talks the same way with other women. That's just how it is here in North Carolina.. people who are bothered by it aren't from around here.. it's always been that way
I'm from North Carolina too. I call every one Honey, sweetie, and darling. When I was younger, I found myself being misunderstood a number of times by out of state men. Now, I'm considered just a "sweet little old lady". That has made life a little simpler.
I am not surprised you are tired Lester. You have had a lot of work lately and stress over the flooding and erosion problems. Stress makes you tired and it catches up with you. Your body is telling you need to rest so do not ignore it. Get your sleep if you need it.
I totally agree…Lester has been under tremendous pressure dividing himself into managing the three Properties… Jami too, however Lester does a LOT of the manual labour & with his knee & shoulder issues, plus past PTSD with Harvey..the poor guy is drained😓. I’m glad that Jami let him catch up on his much needed sleep.
Squash grow very well in large pots. Actually I prefer pots fo them, because if they get too big for where I have them, i can move them to a more convenient spot.
Lester, I agree with you Lester and I do understand Jamis options. But there is words that other women takes it another level. I am always calling people sweetheart, sweetie, babie, darling but it only means kindness from the South. I was born in the South and now in the North but I was taught kindness and not flirting with anyone. I was not worried about my husband cheating, he trusted me and I trusted him. But he knew I was his and he was mine.....So Lester and Jami if I leave an comment and say huney, sweetheartit ONLY bc of kindness and my time bc I care. Idk if I answered the or yalls questions but explaining only my vocabulary. Have a blessed 🙌 weekend Sweethearts and a safe Happy Memorial day weekend ❤️🇺🇸❤️
We talk like that here iin Missouri as well. My grandpa called girls miss and he called me Doodlebug my whole life. I love it. This was a fun live. I agree with Jami about the pond. We have two lakes nearby and that’s how they are set up and have been there since I was a child.
Hi Lester and Jami,I’m from Newfoundland and a lot of us there use the term “ my love or dear “ . I get it , I grew up with it and still say it even tho I have been living in Alberta for 44 years now. Don’t think that will ever change. Have a great day guys.🇨🇦😊❤️👏💞
Got to agree with Lester, born in Texas left at age 7, om 65 and female, and I call everyone sweetie, honey ,love ....been told Im not your honey.. told them they were probably not anyone's honey🤣 but it's a thing!! Kill them with kindness even if it gets sarcastic 🤣
Good evening Lester and Jami, I missed the live but watching it now.I and from the UK and there are parts of England are like you when using words.London people will call people sweetheart or darling and north of England use Bab .So we get it.Lovely live
The plants in the pond are an ecosystem that keeps the water clean. Living pond yes 🙌 I wouldn’t mess with it. If anything only clear an opening for them to enter the pond.
When I was young in my 30’s, I worked at a construction management site. I got called into the VP’s office and they told me that I needed to stop calling everyone “darlin’”, because one of the guys was going to take it wrong and I might have a problem. They felt they were looking out for me. From where I came from in the south, everyone said “Darlin’”. It took me forever to stop doing that!
Cleaning the pond at the JL wouldn't hurt it in any way because it is a natural pond, and it has its own water source from a natural spring keeping it nice and clear and still can sustain the life of the fish and cleaning it out will make it look even nicer. It would also be a more pleasant place for the horses to be able to go out to take their daily swims again.
I agree more with Lester on the JL natural pond. There's something that makes it natural & PH Balanced. Maybe that pond is natural spring fed? I was mistaken. My first thought from the start was that you'd put the horses in the pasture with the Red Barn. And put the cattle in the pasture up front with the UFO. Back when the cattle were up front, they never bothered or upset the Eco System of the front natural pond. So it just seemed practical that the Red Barn pasture & and its safe location were all around good for Jami attending to the horses, etc. (Unless, of course, the neighboring horses & little donkeys were an issue.) I hope ya'll can succeed to keep the front pond as natural as it is. But maybe only removing some of that yuck. But maybe not for the horses. Perhaps instead to consider switching pastures with the cattle & horses. Hey, it might also solve that water trough problem with the cattle play. * I'm neither"Ya nor Na" on the LHL's pond reconstruction. I do feel a solid Dam with gradual ladder/tiers going under the bridge some way some how. But there needs a follow thruway on to the otherside toward the river. A goat bridge they'll need. (I do like the tiers at Arm's Family Homestead's river crossing. But that's a totally different terrain) Well, good luck in whatever ya'll decide. You're doing your best as always. We're here to love you & support ya'll 💯👍🥰
I agree with Jami! Yes, your pond is a beautiful piece of nature. However, nature also allows some ponds to be completely overgrown with weeds and plants. Those horses need a pond to swim in. Let Jami pull some weeds and plants. It won't hurt your pond at all.
I agree with Jami’s idea for the dam portion. But think you still need a way to route or slow down the incoming water from other properties. So as not to wash out other portions of the property!
Sure Lester, let the green grow in and cover the WHOLE pond so absolutely only frogs, mosquitos, etc can enjoy abd have use of a great Lester's system...lol.
You are definitely right Lester. It is a southern thing. I worked in retail all my life. Female and male alike all called sweetie, love, sug, it all means the same. To me it just is a friendly sweet way of saying Howdy.
How do you stop channeling if the rain is coming down that hard on slopes. If you have soil it will channel itself. Concrete seems to best way that will take a lot of rain.
My dad’s pet name for my mom was “Cornsilk” and yes, he was raised on a farm surrounded by cornfields. I like being called by terms of endearment by anyone. I was bullied as a kid and so it offsets all the cruel things I used to hear.
3:46 p.m. my Bill is snoring away in his recliner across the room from me. It's too Hot outside here in Central Florida today. Blessings and Big Squeezes ❤️🤗🐾✌️
I snore, mouth breathe, drool, I have been known to talk in my sleep, mumble in my sleep, laugh oit loud in my sleep, sing in my sleep, I woke myself up doing it before . I also have been known to write in my sleep and I used to listen to the radio to fall asleep back in the day
5 - Proper Illumination If you want to display your flag at night, it should be properly illuminated so that it is visible, identifiable and presented with respect at all times. Your flag is a powerful symbol and should be treated with the honor it deserves. Not only does it help ensure legal compliance but also maintains respect for the nation’s identity and values.
Just do the ground work about Rita. A LOT of ground work. Y’all are getting to know just how smart horses are, and I applaud you! I hope that you wait til she’s closer to 3.
Jami the system you prefer makes sense to me. I've been visualizing the spillway done in concrete as well. What to do with the rain that's making rivers on its way to the pond. It's a huge amount of water that cuts through the property.
You have to GIVE the water a PATH to go....where you want it to go......concrete culverts are how we do it in Georgia where we have hills and valleys everywhere .....
I think everyday you should bring her over and use a step stool put a blanket on her and just lean on her. Each day a little more or every other day a little more. This starts to get her used to someone in her back. It takes time and patience. Then you put the halter and reins on her and do the same thing day after day. Your building her trust in you. Then you put a saddle on her and do the same thing just leaning your upper body on her. Eventually she knows you mean no harm. I have done that several times with horses.
It's fine Lester there's alot of people here in Missouri. Men and Women both who has called me Baby, Darlin, Love, Honey, Sweetie and I don't know them. They are Nurses, Receptionist, Restaurant servers,Store Clerks.
The reason behind the "Dirty Diana" moniker had me 💀🤣🤣 It is fascinating to me to watch the personalities of the animals, was thinking about that while you talking about the differences in Starla, Tilly in motherly instincts. Starbuck is adorable. I don't blame either of you for sleeping in when you can. I think Lester owes Jamie a sleep in day! 😉😁
The front pond at JL has a spring fed water source so it is not fed by a creek or any other source mainly so it is fine to clean out any weeds
How do you know that?
@@caNwa50 how do you know it is not spring fed?
The best part of pond is watching Rita & Storm swimming….
Yawning is contagious. One person yawns then another then another. Goes on an on

Carrots are a good snack for all of the animals, along with zucchini. I'm talking from dogs to horses. Oh yeah, I think sweet potatoes too
I agree with you Lester, about the natural beautiful pond.
Edit: At JL property 🌾
I agree with Jami. If you don't have a place to overflow, you will have backup and the water will channel to the sides of the pond.
Concrete on both front and back of the pond with overflow pipe through it extending toward your ditch with concrete underneath the driveway (kinda like the water canal’s in California ) into your ditch going to the river.
Thank you so much for the Starla update. She sounds great. Perfect. Her perfect little buck.
I like the way men in Texas tip their hats when they see a lady my boyfriends family was from Kentucky and he would do it to me when frist started dating and he would take his hat off when he opened the door for me
Everytime you say Mr. ED, I think of Mister Ed the talking horse on tv, a sitcom in the 1960's. Lol.
Pawpaw 's Heidi, loved the Breakfast Jack's. When he went out. He would always bring her a couple.
I found out recently that they have a lot of sodium in them and sodium is definitely not a good thing for dogs
The start out was absolutely hilarious.
This is such an interesting Live. We are learning so much about both of you today. 😃
Native Texas women and I love using terms of endearment and being on receiving end of terms of endearment anytime and anyplace EXCEPT in workplace.
I was raised in Michigan, but lived in Kentucky 20 years. When I decided what I wanted at Dairy Queen I stepped op to the counter. The lady asked asked me what I wanted and called me "baby" and I forgot what I wanted. I was probably in my 40's

Amen!! Everything I thought of except that cattails!!
The clear pond, has the right bacteria to be clear. A trick from pet shops is to put some of that clear water pond into the other ponds. I’m glad she only had one. It gives her a chance to adjust to motherhood, without having so many she was overwhelmed.

Make the pond smaller, make it deeper but smaller
Long before all the rain and flooding Lester and Jami have been going it's a nonstop world. The body gets tired.
Lester, I totally agree with the terms of endearment.. My wife talks the same way with other women. That's just how it is here in North Carolina.. people who are bothered by it aren't from around here.. it's always been that way

I understand both perspectives about the pond, Lester.
Love your sleeping habits. I snore since I had my thyroid out and a cpap machine. My husband snores also.
I'm from the North and lived in the South and I've learned it is a way they talk, I call people sweetie at times being friendly.
I am not surprised you are tired Lester. You have had a lot of work lately and stress over the flooding and erosion problems. Stress makes you tired and it catches up with you. Your body is telling you need to rest so do not ignore it. Get your sleep if you need it.

I agree I find it uncomfortable to hear a man call someone other than me babe or honey or baby. Because of my southern upbringing
You have more hills than we do. We created natural channels on our semi hilly property. We had to kerp water out of our barn, too!
I think my cucumbers grow the best when they climb. Fences are good if you have no other way.

Hello Lester & Jami❤️😀
When I was young in my 30’s, I worked at a construction management site. I got called into the VP’s office and they told me that I needed to stop calling everyone “darlin’”, because one of the guys was going to take it wrong and I might have a problem. They felt they were looking out for me. From where I came from in the south, everyone said “Darlin’”. It took me forever to stop doing that!
I need to hear more about your plan to make an informed decision, Lester.
I love you guys so much!! Love the talk about the endearments!!
I say things like thank you darlin’, or sweetie. I’m old school and i am southern.
Great live.
If you are going to start her under saddle yourself you are doing lots of great steps now! I so wish you watched my coach, too!
Cleaning the pond at the JL wouldn't hurt it in any way because it is a natural pond, and it has its own water source from a natural spring keeping it nice and clear and still can sustain the life of the fish and cleaning it out will make it look even nicer. 😂 My dad did the same.

Well, good luck in whatever ya'll decide. You're doing your best as always. We're here to love you & support ya'll 💯👍🥰
I agree with Lester that the plants are providing oxygen to those fish removing could actually change the ph and the nitrates in Ponds
I agree with Jami! Yes, your pond is a beautiful piece of nature. However, nature also allows some ponds to be completely overgrown with weeds and plants. Those horses need a pond to swim in. Let Jami pull some weeds and plants. It won't hurt your pond at all.
I do the raspberries too, Lester.. I have to admit I snore too, I drool, I talk in my sleep.
I agree with Jami’s idea for the dam portion. But think you still need a way to route or slow down the incoming water from other properties. So as not to wash out other portions of the property!
❤replay❤ loved every minute 😊
You cannot mess with a woman & her horses.. Mr Ed is a farmer that us a skill that farmers gain doing their thing.
Sure Lester, let the green grow in and cover the WHOLE pond so absolutely only frogs, mosquitos, etc can enjoy abd have use of a great Lester's system...lol.
Prayers for health and safety.🙏❤️🙏
I'll stick around and watch you ride Rita. She's so beautiful and smart.
Me too! Can’t wait!! ❤❤❤
You are definitely right Lester. It is a southern thing. I worked in retail all my life. Female and male alike all called sweetie, love, sug, it all means the same. To me it just is a friendly sweet way of saying Howdy.
These lives are my favourite where you and Jami Cakes chat with us. Love your chemistry ❤❤
You are both
Wonderful people enjoy your live stream
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 i absolutely love ya'll.❤
I love you two.I was thinking the one that looks the most sleepy has probably got up earlier. Both of you work hard.Love you guys.😅😅
I agree you could mess up the natural plants that are probably filtering the water. Don't mess with mother nature.
How do you stop channeling if the rain is coming down that hard on slopes. If you have soil it will channel itself. Concrete seems to best way that will take a lot of rain.
France too.
My dad’s pet name for my mom was “Cornsilk” and yes, he was raised on a farm surrounded by cornfields. I like being called by terms of endearment by anyone. I was bullied as a kid and so it offsets all the cruel things I used to hear.
You two are too funny. I am glad. jam is such a strong person to get chores done.
3:46 p.m. my Bill is snoring away in his recliner across the room from me. It's too Hot outside here in Central Florida
today. Blessings and Big Squeezes ❤️🤗🐾✌️
I snore, mouth breathe, drool, I have been known to talk in my sleep, mumble in my sleep, laugh oit loud in my sleep, sing in my sleep, I woke myself up doing it before . I also have been known to write in my sleep and I used to listen to the radio to fall asleep back in the day
You could do with the LHL pond what you did with the ISS pond - completely enclose it - dig it deeper & balance the ground
God Bless you Jami !" You have your makeup on so I'm gonna say Lester. ❤️❤️
5 - Proper Illumination
If you want to display your flag at night, it should be properly illuminated so that it is visible, identifiable and presented with respect at all times. Your flag is a powerful symbol and should be treated with the honor it deserves. Not only does it help ensure legal compliance but also maintains respect for the nation’s identity and values.
Love Tilly! She’s just mad that she’s a goat and not a dog! 😂❤
OMG yes, it hurts so bad when you are tired.
❤ love you both
Just do the ground work about Rita.
A LOT of ground work. Y’all are getting to know just how smart horses are, and I applaud you!
I hope that you wait til she’s closer to 3.
I agree with you, Lester!
Jami the system you prefer makes sense to me. I've been visualizing the spillway done in concrete as well.
What to do with the rain that's making rivers on its way to the pond. It's a huge amount of water that cuts through the property.
Love you both ❤❤
You have to GIVE the water a PATH to go....where you want it to go......concrete culverts are how we do it in Georgia where we have hills and valleys everywhere .....
You guys take care of so many babies which can be exhausting. You need to rest!! Take it slow! We all care so much for you!! Love y’all ❤️❤️
I had flu for 4 days and when I finally stayed in bed for most of the day the kids and the husband realized I might be sick 😂
I will pray that you feel better soon and that the rest of the family doesn’t get sick 🤢 as well.
Younse are awesome ❤❤
I think the dogs taught her to be a good momma, too!
Italy, Having experienced. It!
I agree with you Lester!!!
It's fine Lester there's alot of people here in Missouri. Men and Women both who has called me Baby, Darlin, Love, Honey, Sweetie and I don't know them. They are Nurses, Receptionist, Restaurant servers,Store Clerks.
Me, too Jami I have to yawn!!😅😅
The reason behind the "Dirty Diana" moniker had me 💀🤣🤣
It is fascinating to me to watch the personalities of the animals, was thinking about that while you talking about the differences in Starla, Tilly in motherly instincts. Starbuck is adorable.
I don't blame either of you for sleeping in when you can. I think Lester owes Jamie a sleep in day! 😉😁
