Rock on WestJet! Love it. Love the Dublin hub for my transatlantic flights. Can't wait for this new service.
I wonder if the seat depth has changed. We usually fly Plus as my husband is 6'4". When we are asked for feed back we always mention that the depth of the seat should be deeper. I hope they made this change.
Your new route from Halifax, NS to Manchester appears to use a 737-700 as well. What I don't get is why the fares are so high in premium for this route. Seat dimensions appear to be 36" pitch and 17" width according to seatguru. When I inputted a mock fare in June, it was well over $2k CAD return even though this is perhaps a 6 hr flight. Contrast that with my go to airline from YVR-TPE-BKK in PE class which has seat dimensions of 39" pitch, 20 " width and fares less than $1600 CAD return. This is on an Airbus 350-900.
Hey I’m Tyler, and I flew in First Class in the old configuration and really enjoyed it! It was on your 737-800 Boeing aircraft, and from MCO-YYZ on August 1, 2018. We left at night around 6:30 PM as the sun was setting and it looked very cool! Loved the experience. Great way to fly, and a great way to end our vacation. Look forward to flying with you guys again soon in First Class! Great airline overall! I still remember it so well, best flight I’ve ever had. I was in the last row of the three rows in that class on the right and in the isle seat. Also I think the FA name was Kate she was the purser I think and was very nice. Have a nice day :)
are these seats bigger than the plus seats or what is different to the plus seats? also, are these premium seats offered on all flights? can you get premium seats using air miles? how many premium seats are there?
Flying this product from Dublin in May!
Hey Westjet, are all 737-800 jets upgraded to the new Premium seats? What is the width of the seats?
Wondering about flights from YWG to CUN at end of March 2020? Are the 737-800 cabins changed up to the new seating arrangement, or just middle one blanked with console?
Hi Chris, all but one of our 800s have the new Premium cabin on them, so your chances of getting one for your YWG-CUN flight is very good.
@WestJet My wife and I flew PVR-YVR yesterday and were very pleasantly surprised to have the new 2x2 premium product (we had the old configuration on the way south so we had a recent point of reference for comparison). Really nice job on the new seats/config - much better experience. BTW, our FA Elle did an outstanding job taking care of everyone.
Thanks for the positive feedback. We're happy to hear you had a great experience with our flight crew and enjoyed the new Premium seats!
WestJet WestJet should order 737-900ERs and they will be a good replacement for the 737 MAXs
There should be a better divider between the cabins for comfort and privacy. American Airlines just added them back in after countless complaints from people in First who had to deal with people sticking their appendages between the last row of seating, or grabbing them when attempting to stand up.
Plan on booking toronto to cancun for april 2020, will the 767-300 be upgraded to this cabin by then??
Our 767s already have a similar Premium cabin. See it here - fly.ws/pneAvV
Will the 737 600 be fitted with the new premium economy seating for YYZ to LAX by fall 2019?
That is the plan!
Is there a way to know if the aircraft you're booked on has been retro-fitted with the new seating?
At this time, there is no self-serve option that our guests can use to see if a particular 737 aircraft has been updated to the new Premium cabin. We'll pass this suggestion on to our Digital team though.
Exciting times for WestJet
Is this available on the B737-700 yet?
YYZ-YVR Route
We are in the process of reconfiguring our MAX, 800 and 600 models right now. We will begin the reconfiguration process for our 700s starting this summer.
I do!
I’ll never look at another power outlet like the way I did before seeing this video....ever
I know you have preferred seats which are like the old Plus seats in terms of space, but what is the seat pitch for the preferred seats out of curiosity?
@retroflashbackdude the seat pitch in our new Premium cabin is 96.5 cm (38 in.). Each row is the same width on each side of the aisle as the previous Plus seating (that featured the blocked middle seat). These new Premium seats have a seat width of 51 cm (20 in.) each, so two Premium seats now take up the same width that 3 of our previous economy seats used to.
WestJet I see. I read on a travel blog that your 787 has 63 preferred seats, a kind of economy plus section like your old Plus seats which I like to give taller budget conscious people, like me, more pitch. IIRC from SeatGuru, the economy pitch from the 787 is 31-35”, I’m assuming 35” is for the Preferred seats, and I read that the recline difference for premium and plus over regular economy is 1-2”. Not sure how accurate that is since SeatGuru still has some outdated seat info for some of the airlines.
@@retroflashbackdude This video is of our 737 Premium cabin, and the stats we provided are for the Premium cabin on that type of aircraft. The Dreamliner also has a 28-seat Premium cabin (in addition to the 16-seat Business cabin). You can see a few different videos on our 787 if you go to our channel, then scroll down to the 787 Dreamliner playlist.
The Premium cabin on the Dreamliner features wider seats in a 2-3-2 format. They also have 38 inches of pitch, similar to Premium on the 737, and quite a lot of recline.
The Economy cabin on the Dreamliner has between 31-35", depending on the row. The first 5 rows (9-13) of the Economy cabin feature 35" pitch in all seats. The next 2 rows in the middle section (rows 14-15, seats D/E/F) of the Economy cabin also have the same 35" pitch, so those are the ones you want to select if you're looking for more legroom. You can also select the emergency exit seats in row 25 (D/E/F) and 26 (A/B/C/H/J/K) for more room.
Hello WestJet! Are these on all your 737s ?
Thanks
Just the Max. All others are the old seats
Is that business class?
Will this be more to upgrade to compared to the plus system now?
Jam the Man I just flew on Premium a week ago, (Not knowing that they had made changes or renamed it) and the experience was a lot better. On a regular 737-700 now, you get a placemat, hot towel, and small meal like a breakfast or wrap. Before I am pretty sure you could only get that on the 767-300. But obviously, no ovens or hot food
thebigdog360 that sounds like normal service on a flight longer then 2.5 hours. How were the new seats?
Yeah it was over 2.5 hours, (YYZ-YYC) But I was upgraded to plus before on the very same flight and we did not get the same options. The plane I was on still had the old PLUS seats with Plus in the headrest.
thebigdog360 seems like sometimes it’s inconsistent with the staff. I was told if you are offered a sandwich box you should also get the hot towel service and offered the table cloth.
Jam the Man yep, seems like it
Hello @westjet are these on all your 737-700 and 737-800s now?
We're not quite done the retro-fit on all our 700s and 800s yet. Many of them have the new Premium cabin, but we still have some to complete in the coming months.
WestJet do you know which aircrafts have them? I am going to be flying on WS595 and WS1100
The aircraft that do have the new cabins now will operate many different routes throughout our network, and it's not always the same aircraft for the same flight every day. Because planes are swapped around for operational reasons a lot, we can only confirm the actual aircraft that is planned to operate your flight about 2 days in advance. If you send us a PM on Facebook or DM on Twitter a couple days ahead of your next flight, we'd be happy to check which aircraft is scheduled on your flight and whether it has the new Premium cabin or not.
Who loves WestJet?
SAK 51106 meeee
Me
you didn't mention that it would cost an arm and a leg
far cheaper then the AC 737 max...WJ has no entertainment panels you have to bring along your own laptop/tablet for viewing movies...also way cheaper interior...
Not really..
When will these seats be available on the 737-800 ?
Bob House We’re starting with the 737-600s first (in the coming months). We’ll then continue with the 737-700s and 737-800s after. We don’t have specific timelines we can share, but it is a priority to bring the Premium cabin to our entire 737 fleet as quickly as possible.
Bob House when the next one crashes.
Winter Referees that’s the MAX. Not the normal one
I don't see how it is better than plus... same chair... I understand they are a more budget airline but with the introduction of Swoop, they really need to look at an actual business or first class.
Hi Melissa, our new Premium cabin is quite different than our previous Plus seating. Plus featured 3 seats with a seat blocker in the middle. Premium has two wider seats with more space, and an improved onboard product offering. We have a true Business cabin on our 787 Dreamliner as well. We have a video on our channel featuring it if you'd like to take a look.
@@westjet So does Plus seating no longer exist then? The premium has phased out Plus seating?
You don't have a business class or first class on a 737 aircraft, these planes weren't designed for business or class seating with one aisle and 3x3 seating.
Remember when Westjet started they said they didn't have Plus seating because everyone deserved to be treated well? Guess not anymore.
We continue to believe that every one of our guests deserves to be treated in a kind and friendly manner. Adding new cabins to our aircraft allows us to offer a new type of inflight product that many of our frequent flyers have been asking us about for a long time. Whether a guest is sitting in the Business cabin, Premium cabin or the Economy cabin, they can expect the same great WestJet service from our cabin crew members.
you have totally removed any space between seats so now its back to elbow room only. not impressed!!
Westjet andAir canada charge the same rates. Both are rip offs. Westjet actually still thinks its a low cost carrier hahahahahahah
WestJet is still the cheapest of the two.
@@TheCanadianMan 100%. Every trip I have taken in the last 2 years, Westjet has always had the better airfare and I am usually able to get the "Plus" or "Premium" seat upgrade (fairly cheaply) when I check-in.
