Video Boost really makes a good first impression comparable to Night Sight way back 2018. I know there are inconvenience such as longer processing times and processing through cloud, Google will invest a lot on this feature ahead in the future until these inconveniences are adressed into what we want today.

Video boost is surely a level above the competition especially in tricky situation were normal phone cameras seem to struggle. It terms of the loading time I really don't mind, you still have the option to use the normal video while it's processing, plus the vast majority of consumers don't wanna use a video straight after the shoot so it makes no difference.

@@andyH_England until they do, you 🤫🤫🤫 also don't hold your breath cause it won't happen. Video night sight needs a high end laptop with a m processor. Mobile processors are quite powerful, bit have severe heating issues when rendering complex filters into an existing video. Long story short it won't happen for a while. The same time a server can be continuously updated with new hardware. There is a reason on cloud processing is used everywhere from gaming to professional photo and video software.

Are you encountering the problem on the Pixel 8 Pro where a boosted video shared through Google Photos, then saved to another account, is saved at a resolution of 1080p instead of its original 4K quality? This results in a lower-quality version being saved. Essentially, the original 4K version seems inaccessible on the device, and sharing it via Google Photos for download isn't feasible. Any solution for this?

Oddly enough video boost makes you seem less processed compared to normal pixel video. In the normal you look way too contrasty and it exaggerates shadows and dark features on your face such as any crease or under the eyes looks way too dark and unnatural compared to video boost which brightens up your face and doesn't make any creases or darker areas the center of attention.

Video Boost clearly works like taking videos on iPhones, i.e. HDR, exposure, frame skip/stutter, panning jitter and especially stabilization, are handled in post-production, the big difference is that, on iPhones it is done locally on-device, and on the Pixel 8 Pro, due to the weakness of the Tensor G3, it is managed by Google's servers in the cloud 🌥.
Samsung (the S23 Ultra) and almost all other Android manufacturers handle all these processes during video capture, I hope that one day (just like Google), they will understand that these processes need to be managed in post-production.
But we have to admit that even though it's slow and restrictive, the end result of Video Boost is good and better than the standard Pixel 8 Pro and iPhone video specifically at night, even if it is greatly lacking in contrast, in day time.
Ps: on the other hand, after seeing the results of the iQoo 12 (IQoo isn't exactly known for its video quality), in night video against the iPhone 15 Pro Max (the iQoo is better), I have the impression that the 8 Gen 3 has by default and on-device, the same capabilities as the Pixel 8 Pro Video Boost 🤔

What surprised me is how bad the iPhone 15 Pro Max is in some situations. For example, at 10:06 you can see the jittering during panning that isn't even on the non-boosted version of Pixel 8 Pro.
