What a different opinion I have now about Roald Dahl. You made it possible by reading Lucky Break. I love how you read it. I don't know if I can make another leap into the world of his imagination. I'll try " tasting" a few more of his books by listening to you read them. I might never have had an interest without hearing you read..( I loved Danny, Champion of the World ) I read that one to my son long ago, but your voice is superb in bringing it back to life!

The cane and slipper were still being used when I went to school in the 70’s. Some teachers really did rule by fear in those days. All boys schools should have been abolished by that time.
I can’t imagine what it must have been like to receive corporal punishment in from of the class/school. Nasty!
I also remember the fearsome teachers who took great delight in bashing us kids. I had the cane when I was only eleven. Imagine a grown man hitting a little eleven year old girl. It was indeed abuse by todays standards. Horrible memory.
