It’s the problem with the sports related media in today’s world that when some team gets to the top, the media looks for every opportunity to find faults in that team. The media is looking to always expose the big thing that makes them tick. The media want the opportunity to get and “expose” the big story whether it’s true or not.
Watched the whole episode. Haven’t read the AJC article. I really appreciate the the thoughtful approach, Josh. So much of the media today is based on clicks. Clearly the AJC (perhaps this writer) has an agenda and is editorializing Keep doing what your doing. This commentary reiterated that viewers can trust that you have a level, educated perspective.
I remember when Huskers were elite, every hiccup from the players became a national headline. I don't get the OMG when I see this at other schools. 100 plus kids are connected to any particular team and there will always be a few causing troubles. Seeing disciplinary action match the misdeed is the key.
As a former collegiate athlete, I'm immediately skeptical of sexual accusations against a big-time player. As a former member of the military who has had to witness many horrible situations, I have zero apathy for the truly guilty of those crimes. So I'm conflicted, but Kirby does need to keep an eye on the peripheral before his program risks becoming Jimbo Fisher at FSU 2.0. As for the players and parents, this is one of the cons that comes with giving up the student athlete title for the right to make money. I'm not saying any of it is right, but when you earn money for a high profile job, you become fair game. Just the way it is.
It’s ALWAYS about the money. Most media doesn’t want to present the whole story, they want me to get angry, to have some righteous indignation about _____(just fill in the blank). It’s more profitable to try to bring down the “big guy” the successful person, because the public loves to see someone fall/fail. That way I’ll come back the next day and the next day to look for and find another hit of the drug(anger/resentment). Thanks Josh for taking us through a very detailed honest piece.
Everyone that will ever or has ever won a championship will go through this as well. Its just their turn finally. My only thing is when does driven perception become reality? It will have a effect.
Alabam caught the same scrutiny when they were on top. Georgia is the top dog right now so everybody is looking for something to tear them down. I don't even want to start on the sexual abuse "allegations" because of all of the men that lost their career based off an accusal, only to find out it was made up from the beginning.
The Georgia haters aren’t gonna like this one JP. They all clicked on this video specifically to hear you slander UGA and not speak unbiased facts. Come on now…
This is why I found you and watch you now. You were the best I ever heard talking college football, your takes and perspectives, when you popped in on Bobby Z's show years ago. I still think that. AJC? They usually are haters. But this level? I dunno. Whether its anti-UGA or pro-Tech right down the street from 'em, anti-Kirby or jealous or a higher-up with an axe to grind. Maybe a desperate hail-mary due to low profits. Whatever it is, its sleazy. And like most corporate - owned media these days, they have an agenda, sides are picked BEFORE a topic is written or spoken about. Omissions and spinning the facts, giving a clear picture of what the reader must think about the topic. Instead of just, here is everything we know. Which IS reporting. But now, its just a bunch of BS. And in most major institutions. Throw science in the same boat. Most all science these days, like nearly all, arrives at an outcome that benefits those who funded it. And who will likely fund them in the future. Drug companies, governments, foundations, you get my drift. Too many entities have become too big, too rich, too powerful that now, its ALL CROOKED.
Kirby works those boys harder than any team in the nation and he recruits second to none. When you combine the two you see what happens on the field. It’s strictly football. Kirby seems like the type to treat his players how they will be treated in the real world. If you make dumb choices then that’s your fault. He’s not gonna baby or council anyone. It’s strictly hard work and business at Georgia. Not to mention the athletes at UGA literally have every resource available to not be getting caught up in BS. If u get in trouble at Georgia you’re likely looking for it
@@sethmartin7084 cool if you took what I said literal as in they will 100% always have the number 1 recruiting class every single year for the rest of time then cudos to you for correcting me. 👍
Well, to be fair you did literally say he works those boys harder than any team in the nation and recruits second to none. And then stated that you were not saying that they will recruit #1 100% of the time for now till then end of time. When in reality, kirby has only ever had 2 #1 recruiting classes ever. And technically only out worked everyone 2 times as well. It's actually factually true and literally true that saban has out recruited everyone second to none, and outworked everyone second to none in the past 15 years more than Kirby, ohio state, and michigan all combined. So its not even that he took it literally. Its that it's just not even a tad bit true and completely a Ludacris statement. Not hating but just stating the statistical craziness to even say that statement at all. While adding the obvious elephant in the room to your statement.......which is Saban!!
@@caseydangar4414 Yall do realize that coming in second place in recruiting RANKINGS (keyword rankings) doesn’t necessarily mean your recruits turned out to be inferior to the team that came in #1 In rankings? Therefore once again Kirby recruits second to none. If you want to turn it into a recruiting ranking argument then whatever

The USA Today article parroted the AJC article. Neither are factually accurate. There wasn’t a cover up and what has been said about jerrett is borderline defamation. Anderson was booted from the team when charges were brought against him. It’s old news. Jamaal Jerrett was proven innocent after an investigation.
The modern America media is both a blessing and a curse. It's got some serious problems right now. In the never ending fight to attract eyeballs it's developed into propaganda, professional trolling, and gossip. Ultimately it's up to us, the readers, to reject these things.
This entire AJC piece reminds me a whole lot of the case in, I think Kansas where a very promising high school football player's life was destroyed by a female who lied when she accused this kid of rape. He spent 8 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit
I’m all in on what you’re saying about get to know the details. Because if everyone would have done the same thing as you just explained the miami program wouldn’t have been publicly destroyed for what happened with the Nevin Shapiro stuff. Dig into the details on that one and you’ll see how inept the ncaa has always been. Anyone who thinks it’s a new thing based on what they are trying to do by keeping themselves relevant hasn’t been paying attention.
I have been questioning what is up with the AJC and UGA for about two years.. The AJC definitely has the long knives out for Kirby.. The part I don’t understand is the AJC is financially tied to the success of Georgia Football!

have not read the articles, wonder if the authors compared activities of the football team to those of the general student body? not that either would be right but give a complete overview of the university, not just the english majors.
My belief is the school/program is to be held to a higher standard than the individual player. By saying you should have the back of the individual player casts a light that is not good on the remainder of the team who have not put the team in that bad light. If the accusations turn out to be false, the door should reopen to return. The coach should have a policy that does not involves any judgement. Every player should be treated equally no matter where they are on the depth chart, and every player should know this.
First I heard of the GA allegations. Being Alabama, I don't dwell on GA that much, but I will chime in. I am really sick of seeing every successful man, black or white, being accused of rape. It happens so much, I have almost come to the point that I don't believe any of the accusations. Don't get me wrong, being the dad of two daughters, I want the perpetrator of such a crime punished to the fullest extent. But we need to believe the young man's story just as much as the young lady until one is "proven" a liar.
I'm a GT Fan & Alum - if you want the honest truth you gotta break some eggs to make an omelette When the omelette is Back2Back CFP Titles, these MINOR broken eggs are just "the cost of doing business" BTW, in the Adam Anderson case the alleged victim was also an alleged victim of SA at another College........ And yet, somehow she ends up UNCONSCIOUS DRUNK in an off campus apartment full of FB Players I think this alleged Vic in the Anderson Case has a crap-ton of other issues, although I wish that guys like Anderson would avoid the off field distractions & riff raff
People who do this are simply evil and don't care about others. Who cares if you ruin someone's life for no reason if you make some money off of it right?
As a Alabama fan I’m born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia my college teammate when I played at Tennessee Chattanooga was from Birmingham. This is the reason why I’m a Alabama fan nevertheless, I do not understand the hatred relationship between the Atlanta, Journal-Constitution, and the University of Georgia and I think the public is right it’s always been like that. I just don’t understand why you have your team that won two back to back national championships and they still find a way to shit on them and I’ll never get It.
Stopped watching that motormouth a couple of years ago. God--i'm a truck driver and believe me i have 10-11 hours to kill and i couldn't take the nonstop nonsense--he could describe a fucking pencil for 5 minutes--and figure out 5 different ways to repeat himself. He's such a candy-ass. Watching football and talking about it and never has he played it.
All I can say is that there is a pattern of this behavior and that in itself should be concerning. Not saying the current players are guilty or not but the school should hire an unbiased investigator and find out are there situations that can or that are fostering this type of behavior because players have egos and combined with drinking and other outside things do cause these things to happen. It happens at alot of schools and for it to be mentioned leads me to believe that there is some truth in aligations even though the story seems exaggerated and at some point will become truth if not addressed.
Ok what I think happened, as it does to any one or thing on top, is AJC does a poor job on an article, then USA Today "reports" "as reported in the AJC" and then similarly it just carries on to more and more outlets. Shoot, I could do that like a news aggregator and it doesn't involve even having to leave the office, just copy someone else's article, who copies someone else's and call it investigative journalism. It is, however an important issue at every college and always has been for decades. It really can't be emphasized enough that you need to instruct, train and advise ALL Students at all schools of proper conduct and civic responsibilities.

The media is looking to always expose the big thing that makes them tick. The media want the opportunity to get and “expose” the big story whether it’s true or not.
Watergate Syndrome. Ever since the Washington Post took down a President, editors and writers think that is what they have to do to get noticed.
Fantastic video! Love your perspective and level headed views.
Thank you for at least looking at all of the details and telling everyone. I believe you are unbiased the way you’ve always spoken.
The AJC hasn't ALWAYS been out to get us. They USED TO BE the best UGA FOOTBALL coverage you could find.
Georgia should hire Josh fot their PR department.
Same with Bama 😂😂😂
Lawrence Phillips was on a whole different level of problems.
@@wcfenderson5609 LP is an angel now. RIP
Read the full AJC article and listened to entire segment. Big, Big Thumbs Up!
logic is a wonderful thing. Thank you Josh.
The good ol' Atlanta Urinal and Constipation. Never let actual facts get in the way.
Great show AJC i stopped reading AJC years ago they went left long time ago .
Amazingly insightful comments, Josh.
A wise man with wise words. We need to remember, innocent until proven guilty and assuming we all know how that goes.
Voice of reason. thus why Josh is heading to be one of the best.
He's not "heading", he's there.
The Georgia haters aren’t gonna like this one JP. They all clicked on this video specifically to hear you slander UGA and not speak unbiased facts. Come on now…
@@edwardo8424 You’re both mad and delusional kid. Get well soon.
Josh, you should get a T-shirt that says "DON'T JOSH ME!", for you were spitting the truth!
Lots of programs have had bad stuff revealed about them in the press. This is the first time you've gone to bat for one.
Amen brother. There’s a lot of cheap lazy journalism, perpetuating disinformation, or not doing the legwork.
When smoke normally a fire, it's the Coaches job to put out the fire in this case.
If u get in trouble at Georgia you’re likely looking for it
Well this past year Kirby recruited 2nd to Alabama
@@aklantrainingmask3.035 it was a light hearted joke chill out lol
@@caseydangar4414 Yall do realize that coming in second place in recruiting RANKINGS (keyword rankings) doesn’t necessarily mean your recruits turned out to be inferior to the team that came in #1 In rankings? Georgia has clearly had better players as a whole on their team than anyone else and that’s judging on Saturdays not recruiting rankings. The results speak for themselves. Therefore once again Kirby recruits second to none. If you want to turn it into a recruiting ranking argument then whatever
Someone is scared of what Kirby and UGA is becoming. Not just a powerhouse but a Juggernaut in recruiting and winning. People are trying to put heat on Kirby and Georgia so he will leave.
Appreciate you, Pate. Thank you!
Great job Josh.
Heavy issues indeed, I haven’t read or heard about these present issues… my 1st take would be to the alleged victim and their truthfulness and safety .. when the facts are found sound then it’s time for the truth and justice to come out … whew … I believe in the jury and the judge system .. the media in general I think sometimes over steps their boundaries…the checks and balances are in my opinion are slowly eroding..
This was a great video. Very well said.
GREAT reporting and commenting, Josh. You're so right about these kneejerk commentors.
The AJC is full of GA Tech hacks
Hilarious to me that this is still being thrown around if Georgia had a culture problem they wouldn’t be getting ready to sign one of the best recruiting classes in college football history
And yet when it's said about a rival, it' always gospel.

With the smartphone, it went up a notch as folks using the small screen didn't want to scroll thru a full story. The other huge push was when TV networks combined click bait headlines, abandoning journalistic ethics and "new reporting" became based on what any random wingnut said or wrote anything in a public space.

Florida championship run had them taking top classes under Urban and they were all saints by this regard. That said Kirby pushing for 90 day open record response from 15 is ultra shady and shows corruption in the state.

Thank you. There are hosts out there that never passed an English cass.
The AJC is owned by Cox Enterprises, a very private company totally owned by the Cox family who are a very prominent family in Dayton OHIO!!!
Josh Pate getting at commentators with facts. I love it.
Thank you, very well put
I read a article similar to that in the USA TODAY 2 days ago by Dan Wolken.
They take it seriously; no one is perfect and these are still 18-25 year old kids. Mistakes WILL be made
The modern America media is both a blessing and a curse. It's got some serious problems right now. In the never ending fight to attract eyeballs it's developed into propaganda, professional trolling, and gossip. Ultimately it's up to us, the readers, to reject these things.
Holy moly that final quote…I’ll be saying that for awhile.
This entire AJC piece reminds me a whole lot of the case in, I think Kansas where a very promising high school football player's life was destroyed by a female who lied when she accused this kid of rape. He spent 8 years in prison for a crime he didn't commit
Thank you for this Josh
Best take I’ve seen on this.
Beat the pay wall. Open the article, as soon as it opens hit ctrl a then ctrl c. Open a word document and hit ctrl v. The actions will copy and paste the article to the word document.
You the man JP!! 💯
That newspaper is not what i grew up reading, what my old man would spend 8 hours reading cover to cover on sunday mornings in tighty whities and black socks, not what a newspaper should or could be.
It's not reporting, it's activisim. It's people who prey on other people's lives, misfortunes, mostly negative things....and it's legal.
I cancelled my subscription months ago and they send me more renewal emails than when i subscribed.
It's garbage now--and they hire anyone willing to admit they read the national enquirer.
Creating stories out of nothing--it's like reading 2 people arguing about nothing and having to pay for it.
Detective Josh, you have inspired me to do my own investigating. I’ll at least do that before commenting.
I know one thing UF let's kids go just from serious allegations, they dnt wait around and let the justice system play out. Look at kitna . Months later his charges were dropped to misdemeanors bc of a weak case and he can now move on w his life but that won't b at UF. THEY take it seriously
They do the same stuff with Trump
This is part of the Late Kick PODCAST. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND LISTENING TO THAT PODCAST!!! So at the part of the show where Josh is getting reactions to the question: What do you think of Michigan Head Coach Jim Harbaugh?
So several minutes go by, then Josh uses his little “alien” to pose some questions to… but when Josh says that the alien is packing up, and it is getting ready to
leave… at 43:52 (in the PODCAST VERSION) Josh
said: “hold on, I’ve got some Reece’s pieces”.. I laughed harder in that moment than I have in months!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Josh I’ll answer your question. Here’s the answer. The AJC editor Alan Judd who keeps writing and publishing the Georgia hit pieces is a Kentucky graduate. He’s a wildcat fan according to 92.9 The Game who interviewed him
Western Kentucky Grad according to his bio but I get your point
Nah just let them keep feeding the fire….they gonna piss this team off and you don’t want to do that lol

I agree with your take on this 🏈🏈🏈
The circulation for the AJC has been dropping ever since the introduction of indoor plumbing.
The boldest prediction is “Georgia will not have any trouble with the law” that would be a 10/10
have not read the articles, wonder if the authors compared activities of the football team to those of the general student body? not that either would be right but give a complete overview of the university, not just the english majors.
10% here Woot! Steam on Pate State!
Thanks for this. The AJC is a rag. Unfortunately, in a large percentage of the industry, journalism is agenda driven.
Huh? That response had nothing to do with video.
I'm a GT Fan & Alum - if you want the honest truth you gotta break some eggs to make an omelette
When the omelette is Back2Back CFP Titles, these MINOR broken eggs are just "the cost of doing business"
BTW, in the Adam Anderson case the alleged victim was also an alleged victim of SA at another College........
And yet, somehow she ends up UNCONSCIOUS DRUNK in an off campus apartment full of FB Players
I think this alleged Vic in the Anderson Case has a crap-ton of other issues, although I wish that guys like Anderson would avoid the off field distractions & riff raff
Using the AJC as a fish wrapper is an insult to fish!
People who do this are simply evil and don't care about others. Who cares if you ruin someone's life for no reason if you make some money off of it right?
I would love to add to the comments but everyone before has covered this AJC pos very well .
AJC supports Georgia Tech, not UGA.
Still baffled as to why BA promotes the AJC at the end of every episode of Dawgnation
Because he works for the AJC...
Because they pay his salary
I’m sure him and Sentell want out of their contract, but then better hope there’s not a non compete clause
It happens at alot of schools and for it to be mentioned leads me to believe that there is some truth in aligations even though the story seems exaggerated and at some point will become truth if not addressed.
the AJC and most news outlets are more concered about clicks since very few people actually read those rags.
Ok what I think happened, as it does to any one or thing on top, is AJC does a poor job on an article, then USA Today "reports" "as reported in the AJC" and then similarly it just carries on to more and more outlets. Shoot, I could do that like a news aggregator
and it doesn't involve even having to leave the office, just copy someone else's article, who copies someone else's and call it investigative journalism. It is, however an important issue at every college and always has been for decades. It really can't be emphasized enough that you need to instruct, train and advise ALL Students at all schools of proper conduct and civic responsibilities.
