Problem is, talking heads on RUclips will pick up on what the general theme is, and regurgitate what the comment section is saying to farm more engagement.
The product that get hate and love are the same time, usually all revolve around one competition with two philosophies
Make the best product, and charge the earth for it
      And
Make almost the same product, and charge almost the same for it.
It then turns into this, battle where people waste a lot of energy and emotion hating on things mainly because they can’t afford them, or loving them with all their hearts because they saved for them for example.
My $599 was not wasted, I have a good card, that will last for a while for what I need it to do and that’s all I care about. I don’t begrudge someone who went with more performance for the same money but I will have no sympathy if they ran into problems at some point (as is well reported with driver issues and speed of deployment) as they have no sympathy with me for having a lower performing card at the same cost.
You’re being farmed, you always have been and always will be. Easier to go through life without being mad at businesses whose mission is to make the most out of you, as you would in their position. If you wouldn’t, you’ll never be in that position and always be 3 generations behind. If that makes you happy, stop complaining in comment sections about prices, your attitude is why you don’t have a new card

    • @theadmjg

I had to work on the 4080S launch day and just could not take the time off to try and get this card myself. So, I sent my mother-in-law on a mission to get one for me at our local Microcenter lol. She doesn't even know how to turn on my computer, that's how computer illiterate she is, but I had no one else to depend on! I gave her a crash course on GPU manufacturers, that the 4080S could be sold under several different brands, and to try her best to land me either the FE, or the Zotac Gaming Trinity Black Edition, which both retailed for the $999, but if those were gone/sold out, ANY other 4080S would suffice.
I was working on a new build and had everything except the GPU because I was waiting for the 4080S release, so I was running on the iGPU in the meantime. I gave her additional instructions that if for whatever reason she couldn't find any 4080S, to grab the Sapphire 7900XTX Nitro+ that was in stock there. And if for some CRAZY reason, both the 4080S and the 7900XTX's were all sold out, there was a 4090 sitting in the cabinet for the last couple days, she could bring that baby home lol. I secretly wished for the 4080S and 7900XTX to be all sold out, but she came home with the Zotac Gaming 4080S. She did say that the sales rep who helped her had tried to talk her into buying a different 4080S that was $1299, but since the $999 Zotac was available, she declined. He even tried to get her to call me and ask, but she snapped back and said, "I think I can decide for myself which one to get for him!" lol.

Is the point hes making that 1080p is so light on these cards that the speed will be faster than any cpu can handle right now causing it to undervolt itself and cause weirdness? That makes a bit of sense, but still confusing considering the cpu doesnt handle pushing the pixels out to your display any more in modern day.

I’ve only started watching PC channels in the last year or so after semi building a computer for my wife.
I’ve found that it is very challenging to determine what to get as a consumer for many parts because there are so many options and figuring out what the differences are can be confusing.
I appreciate this channel and GN for keeping everything pretty straightforward.

I dont agree its a good value imo. This is no longer the 1080 days guys. You cant expect more and more technology more hardware, more parts more metal to be the same price every year. Yalls logic is gone and yes you jay you are one of the wordt when it comes to understanding advancements with pricing. If you made them yourself like my mother used to for the motherboards and chips inside of said gpus you may understand the pricing. Even amd stated they lose money on there gpus just to compete. They make money everywhere else. So its that hard even for and to price well. Amd 7900xtx performs like a 4080 super and was the same prufe as the 4080 super. So what each offer it makes sense based on performance so again you cannot expect flagships at lower prices when even amd is losing money trying to set lower prices. Just like they lost money in the consoles with what they did. Then you have the fact nvidia has hardware prioprietary items that will increase peoduction cost. And expect them not to charge a little more? Get ober it and please take some business classes.
You are very smart with things you know but sometimes you sound like the kids at 15 conplaining. You should be much more advanced in business and understand cost then a 15 year old. Just saying.
Also why tf would the 4080 super come close to the 4090 when the 4090 is 750 dollars morw ans i dont hear you complaining when testing and getting those lol thats like an entire 4070 ti super in price more then the 4080 super and you ainr getring an entire 4070 ti super in performance on top of the 4080 super. Its within 20 to 30fps. And sometimes in 4k its within 10 to 15fps. Sometimes more yes but its not as big of a lead now imo. Its plenty big but for the price yeah the 4090 actually is horrible value. 4080 super I feel isnt just like the 7900xtx I feel isnt.

I have a 3080 Ti, and was considering the 4080 Super. After the reviews though, I think I am just going to hold off until the 50 series unfortunately.

@@Frozoken Because I could spend $2k and practically get 2x. I was hoping the gap would be a bit smaller.

I just bought a 4080 super. So long as it’s better than my 2070 standard I’ll
    Be happy.

Im running an A770 on my rig and love it. I used to only run AMD but have loved the move over. Im sticking with the card ive got until Intels Battlemage releases.
I am debating on getting a GPD Win Max 2 though which runs AMD 7640u/7840u though. Mainly because of my interest in the G1 external graphics card with oculink. I would love to know what the comments and Jay think about them.

I tested an A770 but returned it to Newegg. It was a stuttering mess. And my backup, spare 3060Ti was better in every way.

Price for this should clearly be 750~800 USD$, but pandemic made nVidia greedy and buyers dumb.

As a person who is upgrading from a 3060 ti to a 4080 Super, Specifically the ROG Strix from ASUS, this is a great deal for me. I was orginially going to be getting a ROG Strix 4070 and when i saw the ROG Strix 4080 Super come out at 1,300$, 500$ cheaper than the regular ROG Strix 4080, i had to get it because i was not only getting a good card, i was also upgrading way above what i orginially intended which was a good thing, im getting the variant of card i want, and im not paying 1800$ for a 4080 thats slightly different, instead im getting a hell of a deal in a way and still getting what i want. So in my circumstances the 4080 Super coming out was perfectly timed.

The 4090 is an entirely different class to the 4080 Super.
E: Colorful make some nice cards.
"The 4080 Super is intended to get close enough to the 4090 to be worth considering," - guru3d source 3.
That was ambitious. The price difference means it's worth considering, but performance wise they are in entirely different classes.
E2: Ultrawide would be nice to see on the charts, but that's more work for you guys.

If they would have given the 4080 Super 20GB memory and the performance was ~30-40% better than the 4080, or 30-50% of the way to the 4090,at $999.99 msrp, it would be a much better deal.

I have a 4080 with a 1080p monitor, I just noticed too late that it was an overkill graphics card for this monitor, but at least the monitor is 360hz and I heard that if you enable DLSS, you can still benefit with a 4080, because DLSS shouldn't be depended on your CPU. I hope I'm right with that, I don't really feel like to buy another monitor
