I was the only girl in a Catholic family of 10. Contraceptives we’re not allowed. My mother lost it after the last son. I was put in Foster Care & found out what a girl was "for". Returning home it was the continuation of sexual abuse. My Mother took her life. I was violently raped at 12 after starting menstruation. I got pregnant. Abortion was not an option. I had twin boys from the same place I was raped. My Grandmother said it was punishment for being a "wh*re". I ran. I never looked back. Took control of my life. I’m now 62. The house is quiet. The memories are destroying me since the Dobbs Decision was reversed. Please don’t go backwards. Please don’t subject females to this barbarism. The younger generation doesn’t know Sister Mary Magdalene Laundries. They don’t know the fights Females went through to be able to be considered more than "livestock". That rape in a marriage didn’t mean anything because the wife was his "property". That females couldn’t have checking accounts. We couldn’t make Medical Decisions without our husbands consent. Right now, his affect is just causing me to fight for women’s, minority’s, and lgbtq rights! I’m also disabled from physical abuse that causes seizures several times a week! I'm a middle aged dude. This ad just pulled my heart out of my chest. I cannot believe how brave this young woman is to put her story out there with no fear. We can joke about Trump's lunacy and make cat jokes but this ad really sums up what is at stake.
If you listened to your brain instead of your heart, then you’d know that SCOTUS Justices made the decision, they were confirmed by Senators elected by tens of millions of Americans, and even beyond that, it required millions to elect the local and state officials who ratify changes to state laws.
Believing “Donald Trump did this.” means you should never vote.
I seriously hope her guardians at this time are monitoring her internet. Not from her, but more what she's receiving should be combed through because so many people become weirdly violent whenever a woman speaks up about her abuse, usually with some trick like, "why do you want this guy to get fired? Do you really want to be responsible for ruining his life. I do worry about this young woman, after such a difficult time and then to have to talk about it in the press - no, not have to; she bravely CHOSE to and that should be admired - being the subject of attacks from some of the worst parts of the internet.
Oh, trust me, there was definitely fear. The way the monsters in dad’s clothes teach their prey to fear talking, to believe that if the child speaks up, tells anyone what’s happening, that at best they won’t be believed. That they’ll be shunned and blamed and cast out. And that this reaction will be their fault because they told on the abuser.
Courage is staring down the fear, speaking in spite of it, rising up against the fear.

Trump has said he is not going to ban abortion. He has already been president and did not try to do it. Trump did over turn Roe Vs Wade. This happened in 2022.
I'm a 44 year old father of three daughters. They are my world. I would never hurt them. I can't even comprehend Trump's comments about his own daughter. He makes me sick. I will protect my girls. I will be voting for women's rights and our first female president, Kamala Harris!

I cried when I heard this woman's story on Lawrence O'Donnell. Her 6 year old son is left without a mother because of trump and religious fanatics on our Supreme Court. I previously had 2 ectopic pregnancies and numerous miscarriages in order to have my three daughters. It's unfathomable to me that my daughters and granddaughters as well as all of the women and girls in our nation now are controlled by these sadistic new laws. I couldn't help but cry when I heard about another young woman needlessly losing her life. We all need to vote like we never have before. Every single Republican at any level of government has to be voted out to end all of this cruelty. Together we can do this.

That may seem like a thoughtful, considered statement, but it isn't true. Plenty of laws exist that are not fair or in favour of men.
And just because men can't bear children doesn't mean men would change the law to their advantage. Much of what is decided upon is based on stupid religious ideas, and not based on science.

I'm a wife and mother of one daughter, who is in college. I worried about my daughter's safety, along with my nieces and grandnieces. I'm voting for Kamala Harris 'cause I'm for women's rights and justice. Definitely don't want to see my daughter, my nieces and their daughters, and future granddaughters to grow up in a country where us women to be forced to be control like The Handmaid's Tale.
I was raped at 14 and again at 16. I am thankful that I did not have to carry the child of a rapist to full term. I have since gone on to give birth to two beautiful children who are now married with families of their own. I was fortunate to have protections and good reproductive care. Unfortunately, my daughter does not. That is why I will vote Kamala Harris.

a 10 or 12 yo girl being forced to go through her life carrying a rapists baby is just sick. Not only the trauma of being raped and then the complications of pregnancy, but then being victimized and mocked in school and in society. Anyone who thinks this is a good idea needs to seek mental help.
JD says 2 wrongs don't make a right. Society already failed these girls once. How brutal do you have to be to want to blow up any future they could have. And most of these states have high birth mortality rates and low social services. So it's not about caring about the baby, but enforcement of their will on women and girls. In this case it is sadism.

But a lot of women right now, including me, are sharing these sorts of terrible intimate stories, so that we break the shame cycle and make sure that the broader culture understands why these issues matter so damn much. The silence has enabled the horror of the laws passed after Roe was overturned, but we are using our voices to make sure no future generation has their rights taken away. And as a bonus, it would be good for all of us if we can speak more openly about these things, assuming we want to.

My daughter needed an early abortion to save her fertility. She would have kept the pregnancy if it was possible, but had 70% chance of loss while risking sepsis and infertility. She had to flee to another state to get medical care and avoid sepsis. I will never forgive the people responsible for her horrific experience.

I grew up believing abortion was a sin and the "good people" protested at abortion clinics and shamed women who had an unwanted pregnancy. Thankfully as I got older I realized that no one can, or ought to, tell anyone what to do with their bodies. No one but a pregnant woman can know what is best for her. I can't believe the US took a step decades back in time when Roe was overturned, and the red states were already salivating at the thought of controlling women even more. It's horrific and disgusting and I can only hope that all those who proclaim to support Harris and Walz will actually get out and vote. I'm Canadian and unfortunately we are often very much affected by US policies. I pray for you all that common sense will prevail and Trump will lose again.

I’m a 63 year old British woman, who at 11 years old was molested by a neighbour, and I never told a soul. To this day, no one knows. For years I hated myself, couldn’t look in a mirror, and when I got older, I then started thinking, what if I’d gotten pregnant. I would have just died. So, I’m here listening to this young lady, and I’m so proud of her, and she have no idea how much she’s helped me just watching her and hearing her story, and how badass she is just by putting her story out there, and taking back her power. I have a (now adult) nephew who was delivered at 25 weeks gestation. His 2nd child was delivered at 26 weeks gestation just a couple months ago. Vance dug out a clip of the 2015 Miss Teen pageant where the teenager bungled her interview badly, saying it was Kamala. She was raked over the coals on the internet so viciously, she contemplated suicide. An interviewer relayed this to Vance and asked if he'd like to apologize. Vance said, (paraphrasing), "F' her if she can't take a joke." Soulless much?
REALLY GLAD you showed this ad… what an incredibly brave person, and what a pointed way to make the simple point that rights have been and will be further obliterated under Trump.
I worked in ICU at a children's hospital. Girls as young as 10 found themselves pregnant by older males who took advantage of them. Forcing a child to carry a baby conceived by physical violation is abusive and sadistic. Many of those girls who were made to be mothers before they ever got to experience womanhood were not okay emotionally.
Absolutely scarred for life. One client told me, "I am the crime scene." I can't flee it. I'm always in it.
I'm sure a lot of them weren't physically ok, either. Forcing a child to give birth is sick.

A childhood interrupted by motherhood speaks of ills in society that will take strong governance to change. I am proudly pro choice because to be anything else is to be blind to all of humanity. Reality is that this scenario is not as rare as the average American might. Fortunately, I didn't become pregnant, but my step-farher raped me. He also raped my severely mentally handicapped older sister and he also raped my younger sister, who took her own life. This is not a small topic, because he was not the only person to ever rape me. Life is not as simple as some might believe. All women deserve a choice, regardless of the reason!

I don’t want to rule over women. I am so proud of the women of my generation and in awe of the women of color. I was born in the 50’s, child of the 60’s and came of age in the 1970’s. In my 65 years I’ve seen them succeed by working their asses off while climbing mountains and leaping over hurdles. I am thrilled to vote for Harris and inspired by the prospect to make herstory.

My neighbour in Australia had 13 pregnancies, with 12 miscarriages between 3-6 months, which would have involved D&C's. She would have died early on if this was the current USA. We have rules, but sensible ones. (Btw, the 13th? A few stitches and many months flat on her back finally gave them the child they dreamed of.)

She is the hub for the spokes in out family-children, grandchildren and now great grandchildren and they all honor and respect grandma, grandpa not so much but that's fine with me. I always believed she was my equal, or even better, partner. I have been in very tough situations, once connecting with earth in a very sudden and unpleasant way-stateside, thank whatever power there is, if any, I was on life support for a time but I remember the first thing I saw was my wife sitting patienly, holding my hand and each time, of the three I have been on life support for one reason or another, she was always there. Babies are valuable, of course, but so are women and girls. Why is that not clear to people? We matter.
It's not about the baby. If they cared about the baby, they would fund childcare for all, nutrition programs, section 8 housing, etc. The POINT is to make sure as many young women give birth as young as possible, and to make sure it makes their lives hard for many years to come, so they can't go to college. Early pregnancy is the number one most effective way to sabotage women's education, and keep them out of powerful jobs.

I used to be a conservative Christian until I completely switched in 2016. As someone who completely supports women's right to an abortion, but who also still gets uncomfortable when anyone talks about having an abortion off handedly like it's regular birth control, and with a lot of pro life friends who don't want to vote for trump, I think Kamala is handling this issue and speaking about it in a perfect way that could actually win some staunch single issue pro life voters over
I don't think it's an easy decision to have one...women or girls who are not in a relationship with anyone and/or are attacked and raped by a stranger or someone they know, are not going to be on birth control or carry condoms just in case. A girl who has never been pregnant will not know that she is pregnant until six weeks or more and abortion should be an option. I feel sorry for young women today that will suffer under the abortion bans. It happens alot on college campuses and many go unreported because of the shame.
There are very few woman who talk outwardly an abortion is nothing but birth control and actually mean it on the inside. It would be their coping mechanism to appear like it doesnt matter its not important but I can guarantee you the experience of an abortion is not like going to the corner shop to get milk. It is certainly not something that you would willingly do over and over again. Thanks for maintaining your viewpoint and allowing others to have their own it is appreciated and hopefully more pro-lifer voters can do the same. There are women out there who need your support in their decision to keep a pregnancy as much as there is the need for women to terminate if they decide that is the right thing for them to do. Its about choice.

I served with great pride for 9 years in the United States Marine Corps. I discharged honorably as a Sgt. I am a woman. It is astonishing to me that my daughter has less rights today then I did while on active duty in the 1980s! The main message was, if there's a ban with exceptions of rape, incest and the life of the mother, how is that child victim supposed to prove that she's been raped/incest. How does that woman who needs emergency medical care prove that she needs that care. With exceptions is still a ban.

I had a 29-year-old client who walked out of a recreation center in South Florida one night at the tender age of 14. She was r***d and subsequently impregnated. Her parents forced her to carry the child to term. It was not the decision that she wanted. The little boy was sent to a boarding school in Utah. He came to visit her as a preteen, and I met him. I looked at the child, wondering how he felt. There was no bond with his mother, and it was tough for me to process those visual emotions that they both emitted. That was seventeen years ago. To this very day, that woman is still bent. As a life and health coach, I had over 672 coaching sessions. That case is the one that still breaks my heart in 2024. A biological man cannot image having to deal with the r**e trauma but also the morning sickness, the movements, sleepless nights, and the pain that comes with birthing a child. And let's not forget the anxiety and feelings of uncertainty leading up to the due date. We can add postpartum depression to the posttraumatic stress. Are we humans supposed to ignore the innocence lost, the shame, and the embarrassment? What the f**k is wrong with some of us?
What about the young man created by this rape. How does he deal with life, unwanted and alone. Confused and angry. It’s a bad deal all around, but I never hear anyone talk about the human being created by this rape/incest and how they feel.

@@jurassiccraft883 The point is easy to miss because it doesn't get talked about a lot yet; that women's rights haven't just gone BACK due to current abortion laws, but that THEY ARE EVEN WORSE than they used to be because they target a medical procedure that is not just used for abortion. The "D and C" (Dilation and curettage) that has been outlawed USED TO BE LEGAL EVEN BEFORE ROE VS WADE. It is needed in order to help people who have had spontaneous miscarriages & to treat uterine conditions that could otherwise lead to infection, loss of blood, and sepsis. This is why even pro-life Catholic hospitals had no issue with performing a D&C way back when, and yet we currently have women literally dying now due to lack of medical care. This needs to be discussed way more than it is.
