New York City, located in the southern tip of the state of New York, is the most populated city in The United States of America with a population of 8.46 million people spread out across five boroughs. In the Bronx you’ve got The Yankees and Hip Hop, In Queens you have airports and Spiderman, In Brooklyn you have Hasidic Jews and Hipsters, In Manhattan you have billionaires and 99 cent pizza, and In Staten Island you have, well I don’t know I don’t go out there.
New York City is a multicultural metropolis with a Global city ranking of Alpha ++. Different ethnic communities make up dozens of cultural enclaves such as Little Italy, Chinatown, Korea town, Little Dominican Republic, Little Guyana, Ukraine Village, and many more. Estimates put the number of languages spoken in New York City at over 600.
New York City is characterized by a vast array of art and culture, prominent examples being Hip Hop music and breakdancing, Martin Scorsese films, broadway musicals, and a rich cuisine made up of thin crust pizza, bacon egg and cheese sandwiches, bagels and lox, hot dogs, and cheesecake.
This is all information you can find out by watching the hundreds of tv shows and movies based in New York City, but now you don’t have to.

I spent two weeks in NYC once and enjoyed the vibe. For sure it is a very different experience to actually live there.

As a fifty year resident of nyc, I would say this is an excellent essay on what being a new transplant to nyc is like.
Don't quote me, but it takes roughly ten adult years of living here before we give out the 'new yorker' title. There's a reason for that.
Eighteen months is the beginning, some romantics call it the birthing, and it's absolutely the most difficult time, where the real value of living here usually gets pushed aside with every subway shoulder jostle with a stranger, every stange smell on an elevator, every taxi dodge on the street, takes your full attention. And why not? It's all new, hyper-intense, and usually _really_ weird.
A few years in, that all fades into the background and the _real_ nyc appears, the one fueling that 'magic feeling'.
    Or it doesn't.
    And that's when they leave.
I'm writing all this bc nyc has a reputation that 99% of the country learned by watching tv and movies written by efficient storytellers, sold by efficient salesmen where at best you only see two square miles of midtown Manhattan or a quarter square mile of Brooklyn.
The video aims to make money. It says a few nice things about the city, but the overarching message is, "Everything you've heard is true."
That message is coming from a youtuber with (honest intentions aside) money on his mind, with merch in his store, and surfing on the easy stereotype.
That is a _very_ pertinent fact to keep close at hand when deciding on a life-changing, huge move here.
My city was founded 100% on money, and I can respect any hustle, but we also call out the truth - pointedly, immediately - and that part of our rep is 100% true.
Did I make my point? I hope so, and I hope it didn't come off as rude or rushed.
Now, the group of guys from Staten Island, right behind me?
They have a few more words for you...
Best of luck to you and your channel.
    ❤❤❤

To add to your recreation section I would add the fact that there are easy ways to get to the ocean or the mountains without a car. In the summer, NY Waterway ferries take you to great beaches, especially Rockaway. Metro North trains to Cold Spring or Beacon gets you to scenic hiking trails like Mt Beacon and Breakneck Ridge. There are tons of Meetup groups for runners, cyclists, hikers and just about any other activity you can think of. I have been pleasantly surprised by the amount of outdoor options available here, as well as the great people you can meet.

Getting to Rockaway is also pretty easy by taking the subway through Brooklyn. I lived in a more convenient location in Manhattan when I lived there for a month, but a few months before for a few days, I stayed in a Rockaway hotel. It was a crap hotel, but it only took about an hour to get into Manhattan from there. It was cold out though, I can't wait to see what the beach is like when I move into Brooklyn later this year.

      Microphone plosion?

    • @MrRezRising
      @MrRezRising 5 дней назад

@DarViajar When you get too close to a mic, 'b's and 'p's can cause a little pop, or 'splosion' (short for 'explosion'), which is why wind screens were invented.
In a roundabout way, he's saying back off your mic and turn up your gain instead.

Why would anyone still want to live in NYC, let alone visit? It's all bad, there is very little good.
