Great video, I have a Pixel 7 Pro and I've never had battery anxiety with it. The thing I've found that drains the battery the fastest is heavy camera use - which I guess is to be expected on a device that uses a lot of computational photography tricks.

My Mate 50 Pro hits Emergency Battery mode on 1%, giving me 3 hours of standby time or 15 mins of call time. A great feature that I wish the other phones had
@IIISi Creator Z16 I think maybe you are misunderstanding or I am not explaining properly. It already has power saving mode that you can adjust depending on what percentage you choose, mine is set to 20% (it will restrict certain apps background usage, adjust screen resolution/refresh rate etc) but as an Emergency, when the phone hits 1% it goes into a different Emergency Battery Mode that gives 3 hours of standby time or 15 minutes call time on just 1% battery. I hope that explains it better
@IIISi Creator Z16 dude are you crazy? It's a new feature from Huawei my guy. There is a power saving one and an emergency one which will activate when you hit 1%. It gives you extra time which can help you a lot. Tho in the end, It's the game of software. Cause you can't take more juice from the battery after it's almost ded
Samsung also has ultra power saving mode over the regular power saving mode and you can manually turn it on whenever you want. It limits most of the apps and gives you calling and messaging, also you can choose any 4 apps of your choice to use in ultra power saving mode. On 30% my phone says it will last 6h on standby, on power saving mode it says it will give me extra 2h lasting 8h on total and on ultra power saving mode it gives me additional 18h over normal mode lasting 24h on total. It's really impressive and came in quite handy at times.
Excellent comparative test. Never paid much attention to battery longevity until I had to work a lot of hours outside the office. To me, this is now more important as a differentiator than camera performance.

Hi nick this is the best all round phone test on RUclips for old and new model phones from last year and this year compared to other you tubers , from my view 🤗😃
Considering the fact that the Oneplus 11 charges in half the time of the Samsung's and in 1/3 of the time that the IPhone charges, its looking to be the best overall package here
…and, of course, is a lot cheaper than the iPhone and S23U. Def the best value phone. I cannot say the Pixel due to its relatively poor performance and battery life.
I want to buy it and I am hesitant. What are the problems you encountered with this phone and how do you put it into heavy games, especially on the game Genshin Impact? Can you use it on the highest settings without overheating problems?
Samsung really nailed it with the snapdragon 8gen2. I came to a 23+ from a s22+ and the difference in autonomy is simply amazing 👏 at least for my usage.
Let’s be honest bro samsung did nothing with the SD 8gen 2 chip. Qualcomm desgned it and TSMC made it. The only bit samsung had to do with it was the over clocked bit. If samsung chips was that good why have Qualcomm gone to TSMC and also why have samsung stopped using there own exynos chips in there own phones. Everyone knows the answer bro. While samsung are great at making phones. Saying they are the reason why the SD 8 gen 2 is a beast is laughable
Very impressed with the Samsung once again. I feel like they get better every year now. I'll give the best overall battery performance to the Oneplus 11 this time though. Very good battery life with very fast charging at 30 minutes.
One thing to keep in mind too is the s23 screen is slightly larger than the 14. Had the 14 been the same size as the s23, I feel like they would've been neck and neck.
Well if iPhone 14 pro max would have same size battery as S23 Ultra then iPhone would of still been in front. Stop making excuses both phone did great bro
Samsung was running a 1440p screen compared to iPhone 1080p screen so 20 minutes difference is great. I'm definitely impressed with the OnePlus 11 and it charges insanely fast

Fantastic comparison! The only issue I have with your test is the fact that the phones are so close to each other, that the heat dissipation of one must be affecting the other. Let me know what you think
I honestly don't think it factors in too much. I mean sure it would make a difference but I've had them spaced out more in other tests and it doesn't seem to affect heat too much, at least in terms of battery screen on time
Great test, love the scientific approach! Only thing i am missing is Xperia 1 in the comparison. Maybe you can consider putting IV or maybe even V when it is available in next durability test?
What would be nice in it? After the same amount of cycles on all phones the difference between them would be pretty much the same. There is no advance technology there - its simple battery.
The s23 ultra is pretty cool, that's pretty damn good for an average user but it would be better to add a mode where it doesn't throttle as hard and can allow us to push much higher temps, I know there's a good lock module for it but wish it allowed it to push just a bit more or at least showed us what temp we're at cos they only use emojis Lmao
@@MrSamPhoenix Like, if there was a way to turn that behaviour off and get maximum performance that'd be cool don't you think? People get the best of both worlds, fast and hot but if they want, they can get cool and slow.
@@jubayerwasidraiyan5874 yeah, but remember these chips are desktop class processors with no fan to cool them down. They don’t want people keeping the max performance on and never turning that feature off, and complaining that their smartphone is burning them or only lasts 25 minutes.

Yup my battery life got a bit better after the 5.1 update. It was decent before. Now since the update I'm now using QHD and still getting better battery life.
@nandan dutta I get good battery life on 5G too. It used to get warm on 5G, but since One UI 5.0, they made it auto-switch to 4G if the signal got too weak or spotty. Now it stays cool on 5G and doesn't drain a lot. The experience might be different for those with the Exynos.
I have the S23+ and I got 11hrs of SOT on wifi with 11% left! That's good for an extra hr of web scrolling or YT! Also nick I wish you would have tested the regular Xiaomi 13! It is better battery wise than the 13 pro!
1+ has seriously upped their game this year For the past two years, I've not been recommending anybody a OnePlus 9/Pro or 10 Pro/R because how mediocre they were But this year, i can confidently say it's the best phone of this year so far Great Battery, Fast Charging, Fantastic Display, Great Cameras, Faster Chipset, Reliable Ecosystem with OnePlus TV, Earbuds and Monitors. Only one issue is the software with ColorOS. If they manage to add a little bit more "Googleness" or Stock Android to these Phones, they'd be a serious competitors to the Samsung's and Xiaomi
@@TechNick Totally agree. Nearly everyone that says Oxygen is far superior to Color OS has not even tried it. I have both and really like Color OS with Android 13.
Proud owner of a OP11. I can say the phone has a 2 day battery for sure, and when it needs a charge it literally takes 15 minutes and you are good to go.

It's a superb video! I love these datas and the as accurate as possible results! Maybe You should talk also about the chargers, and the charging speeds. Which company even gives a power brick in the box and which is not. How much they costs on every level (5W/20W/25W/45W/65W/96W/120W Because it's a fact, that the Iphone takes the cake on a single charge challange, but it's gonna be immediately the last one, just like the Google when it comes to charging speed. Xiaomi gets 81% in 15min(!), iphone gets 27% in 15min... Xiaomi is fully charged in 22min, iphone is fully charged in 1h 52min. (S23U gets 68% in 30min at 45W and gets fully charged in 1h 11min at the same wattage), Xiaomi batteries are also certificated for more charging cycles than for example the iphone's batteries even if they are offering 6x higher wattage 5 times faster charging speed than apple.
Aesthetically I'd say that the Huawei has the most pleasing design-wise on the camera. The symmetry is topnotch. Wished that it could still run the android apps or Playstore.
Make the same comparison again but next time set all of these devices to 1080p resolution and the same brightness level and you will see that all of these devices will lose to the Galaxy S23 Ultra by a huge margin including the iPhone 14 Pro Max!
All have been set to the same brightness as shown at the start using a LUX meter and 1080p res doesn't make any diff to battery life based on my tests and experience.
@@TechNick Actually it does. I have seen another battery comparison with all the smartphones set to 1080p and I was surprised how the S23 Ultra beat all these smartphones!
Let's not forget that the S23 Ultra is even doing WQHD+ which means 34% more pixels to push around than the iPhone. This has a huge impact on the battery.
@@billgates9426 Besides the 34% more pixels, the GPU department of the SoC of the sd 8 gen 2 is more powerful. This means testing games means more power delivery which means more efficiency. Apples and oranges..... If you say that pushing around 34% more pixels don't makes hardly any difference for the S23, it certainly deserves respect for the achievement of the Adreno GPU in the Qualcomm.
@@tombesports7213 It should still give the option to turn it on whenever we need it like Samsung.
Would love to see how mediatek chipset compares with SD and Apple. Need Vivo, Honor and Oppo phones in the list as well
Yeah I agree. Will bring in the Dimensity 9200 powered Vivo X90 Pro in the next test so stay tuned✌
Great video, results seem legitimate, I watched plenty of battery life tests and the one plus 11 did not last long, your video was nicely detailed

I was actually astonished by the OnePlus 11, considering the lower price of that flagship phone
Finally the comparison we all have been waiting for 😸

I want to buy it and I am hesitant. What are the problems you encountered with this phone and how do you put it into heavy games, especially on the game Genshin Impact? Can you use it on the highest settings without overheating problems?
@@kharbechenesrinne69 hey, the games do run really well but you might face thermal throttling sometimes if the device heats which is temporary.
@Gareth Alston True, I think it's mainly Samsung's superior software optimization is what allowed it to beat all the other Android phones.
@@garethalston so you don't count OS optimization? if so, why other brand have lower battery score
@@garethalston and to be clear, samsung only stop using their own soc to their flagship product, most entry and mid product still use exynos soc

Very impressed with the Samsung once again. I feel like they get better every year now. I'll give the best overall battery performance to the Oneplus 11 this time though. Very good battery life with very fast charging at 30 minutes.
GEJGIGHFZTZTZ
One thing to keep in mind too is the s23 screen is slightly larger than the 14. Had the 14 been the same size as the s23, I feel like they would've been neck and neck.
Well if iPhone 14 pro max would have same size battery as S23 Ultra then iPhone would of still been in front. Stop making excuses both phone did great bro
@@garethalston What you mentioned isn't even real or exist. What he mentions is something that's not only true but he only said "keep in mind"
samsung qhd resolution, iphone 2k resolution:)) ofc iphone win
Resol;ution also way better on the S23 ultra
@@cs3l u know 2k is the resolution as qhd
Samsung was running a 1440p screen compared to iPhone 1080p screen so 20 minutes difference is great. I'm definitely impressed with the OnePlus 11 and it charges insanely fast

Fantastic comparison! The only issue I have with your test is the fact that the phones are so close to each other, that the heat dissipation of one must be affecting the other. Let me know what you think
I honestly don't think it factors in too much. I mean sure it would make a difference but I've had them spaced out more in other tests and it doesn't seem to affect heat too much, at least in terms of battery screen on time
That is probably the best edited battery test video on RUclips, great work!

In the end - tha main reason to get s23 U - much better energy efficiency
It would be nice to see how they perform after one year of usage...

Hi Nick. Could you kindly test non "pro", non "ultra" models please. I am curious about xiaomi 13 and galaxy s23 specifically. Many thanks
Hey mate, I unfortunately don't have an S23... But I do have the Xiaomi 13! And it should be in my next test so stay tuned😅
Wow it's really specific that your video answered all the questions in my head.
Samsung has to throttle the SOC so it doesn’t drain the battery too much, and to make sure it doesn’t overheat.
@@jubayerwasidraiyan5874 its kinda impossible to do, the constraints in physical space gimped its potential to perform impressively because the tighter the space, the hotter temperature can climb up.
@@jubayerwasidraiyan5874if you could disable it, you would kill the battery in a 1/2 year
Would you say that QHD vs FHD did affect the pixel's battery life? Seeing that there is a 30 min difference in the two tests?
Love your battery drain tests.
I remember Samsung used to make fun of iPhone battery life.
Very nice, just like S22U got better after updates, S23U is going to get better
Mine got a little bit worse after the March update, lost about 0.5hrs. Samsung are notorious for that (S22U was up and down like a yo-yo).
Yup my battery life got a bit better after the 5.1 update. It was decent before. Now since the update I'm now using QHD and still getting better battery life.
@@Marlon_J but if you constantly connect to your WiFi you will not get that much battery life in 23ultra..
@nandan dutta And of course, you would expect the newer one to be better. If it wasn't, what would be the point of upgrading?
Your video is really impressive. 👏.lots of your hardwork 🙌
I have the S23+ and I got 11hrs of SOT on wifi with 11% left! That's good for an extra hr of web scrolling or YT!
Also nick I wish you would have tested the regular Xiaomi 13! It is better battery wise than the 13 pro!
Thats awesome! I would love to test the S23+ but don't have one... I will however be testing the Xiaomi 13's battery in the next test so stay tuned!
S23 ultra i see he win on iphone because when you have andriod system is very large to keep battery life ❤
1+ has seriously upped their game this year
For the past two years, I've not been recommending anybody a OnePlus 9/Pro or 10 Pro/R because how mediocre they were
But this year, i can confidently say it's the best phone of this year so far
Great Battery, Fast Charging, Fantastic Display, Great Cameras, Faster Chipset, Reliable Ecosystem with OnePlus TV, Earbuds and Monitors. Only one issue is the software with ColorOS. If they manage to add a little bit more "Googleness" or Stock Android to these Phones, they'd be a serious competitors to the Samsung's and Xiaomi
Couldn't agree more! However, I am actually obsessed with how great the ColorOS software skin is and I'm not just saying that lol.
It is also marginally cheaper compare to the other flagships
@@TechNick Totally agree. Nearly everyone that says Oxygen is far superior to Color OS has not even tried it. I have both and really like Color OS with Android 13.

The most impressive part isn't just the iPhone's consistent wins since 2019, it's the fact that it's done it with the smallest battery every time

Absolutely amazing video Boss! Well done, your hard work, long ours & effort are all paying off!!! Awesome comments & appreciation ❤🔥
Couldn't have done it without my amazing team!
Xiaomi 13 pro after that first 1 hr was still at 100% was insane 😮
@Who Dis? I think so too.
@whodis8393what do you mean they?! 😂 at first it was cooler that's why it lasted longer.
I really thought the iPhone would’ve lost with its smaller battery.
Let's not forget that the S23 Ultra is even doing WQHD+ which means 34% more pixels to push around than the iPhone. This has a huge impact on the battery.
Lol phonebuff made a resolution based drain test and the change wasn't that huge. Just 10 mins gap.
But hey, do with it what you want. Just saying to keep it fair. Didn't mean to make your Apple heart bleed.

You should include 12 or 24 hours of standby. Sometimes that's where the difference really is.
First time ever seen Samsung beats Iphone battery department 💯💯💯
Wow man! That was a great job and so people know I'm writing this on a Pixel 7 but I think the real winner here was the OnePlus 11 $800 which cost quite a few hundred dollars less than the Samsung ultra $1200 or the iPhone pro Max $1200. It came in third place but it cost $400 less. That's quite a lot. I'm not saying that's not the only thing to look at. Obviously cameras and the operating system and special extras. But anyway, I think the OnePlus 11 won this round and I'm typing this on my pixel 7 phone which probably gets worse battery life than all the rest of those. But I really like it, but there's no doubt that's 11 was the most impressive
I still feel that is not fair !! That you have this other many android devices including the old Galaxy S22 Ultra and the new S23 Ultra but you won’t add the old iPhone 13 Pro Max ? 🤔🥺😭🤦🏻♂️ but nothing the less amazing video and also funny how Samsung became better by ditching their own chips and using Snapdragon’s for better optimization 👍🏼
iPhone 14 Pro Max still the battery KING 😁
😂😂😂😂
I love these videos. Keep them up mate.
The new iPhone 15 Pro will move ahead further ahead again in September I think. Fast charging I see some like Xiaomi, but personally I'm happy to charge at night. I don't think Fast Charging is something you need worry about with iPhone, although could see it now with USB C. Not something I'll be concerned with though.
Good effort by Samsung however. As far as the android platform anyway, Samsung well out does others.
When you use fast charging you won't go back, you're just saying that, charging at night is dangerous.
@@soheiladam7510 I've done all my life, so has almost everyone, never had a problem. Charging any phone fast is dangerous, I think Samsung in past showed that.
@@CarlWiganerUK no it's not, you literally just charge you phone for like 10 to 15 mins tops that's good for life battery, phone and you're time, and you're not gonna feel anxious charging at night because it's still dangerous, I didn't say you can't do it, it just not recommended .
otherwise it's moo point now since your opinion is gonna change when you experience fast charging.
