  • Watch the video at 1.5 x speed to save time. This is the 3rd game of my Major attack strategy series. These games should help most beginners learn how to play from behind. This game concentrates on reading your opponent's game setup from the information gained from lost pieces. Thanks for watching!

Hey Dobby Pierre here for another Stratego question! So at 18:48 your General moves up in front of the Colonel. I thought that you were now in sink with him and that if you moved left and right but always staying infront of him you had to capture him because of the 2 square rule? If you always stay in front of him on row 7 doesn't you not absoluteley capture him??

Hi Pierre. He moved to G8 from F8. If I moved to G7, he could move to H8. He's moving between 3 spaces, not 2(F8,G8 & H8). If I move to H7, he could move back to G8 and then back to F8. Eventually, the computer will stop me from chasing him between 3 different spaces. The rule is that you can move back and forth between 2 spaces only 3 times on consecutive turns. On your fourth move, you have to move to a different square. If he had other pieces placed on E8 and H8, then he would be captured by the 2 square rule if I moved to G7. He would move F8 to G8 to F8. Now he can't go back to G8 because of the 2 square rule and would be captured since his pieces has no place to go.

    Why are the numbers reversed?

I prefer to use the American number version.

Keep up the great videos. I strangely enjoy watching them. I think I have made the mistake of using this strategy thinking you endorse it. You play like this to show how to play from behind am I correct? If so what is a general set up you would recommend to those that are not looking to put the flag up front?
