Congratulations Rob! I am not the least surprised - your photos are always excellent! (I especially like your photos from your m43 kit, they are really unique and have a beautiful “flow”!) Cheers!
Thanks Rik.. appreciate it.. having fun with it.yes m43 still number one.. but lately I've been mixing it up with Canon.. that's a nice complement 'FLOW'.. I'll use that 😆
The relentless rise of the Average Suburban Photographer! Well done Roberto, and not a bad prize either. A fella at work once entered a competition for pictures in a calendar and all that he won was a copy of the calendar! Full frame? Pah!
@@leewilkins2649 rockin the suburbs.. oh yeah that 4:3 frame looks so much better on the wall.. haha yeah I heard stories where everyone came first and they made you buy the photo book... I won my tax money back 😆
Congratulation on the prize, and it should be the #1 photo! Doing street photography with the Olympus 45mm is not always easy, focal length wise, but for sharpness, color, and character, oh yea, it is there.
Cheers Loren.. I remember actually going through your specs around that time and thought I don't use this 45 as much as it deserves. Your right on the character and sharpness.. not the most common street but I find it perfect distance myself
you looked very happy, proud, and dapper up there accepting your award, Roberto. Congratulations ! As other's have stated, had you posted a pic of Jerry you'd have surely brought the judging panel to tears of awe and amazement and taken the grand prize home. Your winning photograph was quite excellent though - vibrant color, great framing (rule of thirds, etc).. capturing the innocent excitement and exuberance of the young.
Thanks. Random shot get lucky sometimes... I'm sure Jerry would have won.. maybe next year... Funny I was cashing in the cheque at the bank when your comment alert popped up on my phone 😆
Never seen your videos before, algorithm brought me here. But I think your picture was better than the 1st place for this competition, because it was taken at the local fair. Lots of your local people probably went to the fair and had a good time. The dog&lady picture could have been taken anywhere. I clicked on your video because I'm in a sort of a similar situation. I entered a local photo contest with a geographical limitation, my first photo competition. The pictures are in a popular vote and judging at the same time (right now), so I have seen the other pictures but the winners are still to be decided. A lot of the other pictures are technically better, more beautiful etc than what I took. But only in a few of them you can even tell where the picture was taken due to background blur or a close crop of the subject. I tried to pick my subject matter to best represent the geographical area, but I don't think I'll finish in the top ten if you just look the pictures without comparing them to the actual prompt. There are two categories and many of the pictures in the other category don't even fill the one but very specific criteria for that category... feeling pretty deflated and I wonder if it was even a good idea to enter in the competition now that I know this. That there is a good chance to lose to entries that aren't made to answer to the prompt of the category. Sort of like entering a marathon and seeing other people on bikes and cars at the start line.
@@cabbelos hey thanks for watching. I agree the photos should match the theme.. I had heaps of better photos but thought deep on the ones that I think the judges were asking for. It's good practice anyway to enter' you never know. Sometimes the story wins over the more technical better photo. Good luck and thanks for sharing. It's always good to meet fellow photographers 😆
Congratulations Rob, well done mate. I have entered a few competitions myself and never won anything. It's good to see one of my mates doing well because it inspires me to keep working on my own photography. You should be proud of yourself, keep it up.
Thanks Andrew..nice having photography mates support me and my journey. Yeah the motivation is the main prize in this. That's why I like your photography, getting out there having fun and capturing the spirit of the art

Congratulations Roberto, that is a very good shot, it could've easily been first place. Now that you're famous, are you still going to talk to the little people?🤣
