Your opening cracked me up. When my little “sister” passed away, I had been one of her caregivers for the last 3 years, quitting only months before she passed on. (We grew up together. She’d been on life support over half her life, though she was always happy and smiling.) I had been the caregiver who did all the “girly” stuff like washing and braiding her hair and painting her nails, in between ventilator care and IV meds. When she passed away, her head nurse and her mom went shopping to buy her a dress to be buried in. They both told me they were determined to find not just a matching nail polish, but a glittery one, because “Cassie will kill us if she doesn’t have on sparkly nail polish!” It cracked me up. They also bought her a tiara. I approved highly of our princess being buried in style.
