I want to work on my own DAW. I have a interesting idea for it.
If you are willing to read my ideas, then you can.
My idea is to be able to freely drag notes around with no snap (including up and down). You can still snap them but you don’t need to. Another thing is that if you want a note to change pitch smoothly (I call them slide notes because it is easier to remember) then you can just move one end of it up and down, no need to have points. You can deform the note itself. That means you can make shapes with a note. It is strange but actually really useful and a cool idea.
It WILL look odd. I explained it poorly btw

Mozart actually did had a grid. It's called beats and bars.
It's just that snapping to the grid was a whole different story. But you didn't really have to worry about it until the music was actually played.
So when he was playing music himself, nothing snapped to the grid like today. But when he was "just" composing, it was snapping not less than in Logic or Ableton. He could just define that a note sits perfectly on he beat and it did. At least in theory. But composing music is the theory part, not the practical part. The rest was the instrumentalist's problem. But for Mozart, it snapped. Because he could just say it does.

Looks cool. Every DAW has one fatal flaw: I have 18 years' worth of FLPs, and most other folks are in the same boat. Unless the DAWProject format takes off, or someone writes a tool to convert DAW project file formats, new DAWs have a serious uphill battle, just because of closed formats. This does look pretty cool though.

@@hundeaux Looks like it doesn't support FL, is Windows-only, and the last stable release was almost 4 years ago :( That's a shame, that could've been exactly what I needed in my life

Drummers will lose their godamn over this. In a few years everyone will be making 17/3 trap-glitch and people will rap in Klingon over it can't wait
