Excellent lesson, right on point as I’ve been trying to add emotion and embellishments to the melodies I play. Thanks

Hey Michael, glad it was helpful! Thinking about emotions as dynamics, articulations, and embellishments will certainly help bring your melodies to the next level!

@@ScottPaddock Your tip about using the lyrics as a guide for finding the feeling is similar to how I like to listen to different singers versions of a song, the way they make it their own with note choices and phrasing, then choose to play what I like (if I can do it). Since I can't find anyone to play with, I really dig playing along with YT backing tracks with the scores. I've been able to add my own embellishments and even solos that I work out on my own. BTW, I really enjoy your down-to-earth teaching style.

@@midaxsax That's the way to do it! And thank you 😁

After 2 years of lessons, we are learning some articulations and dynamics, but I thought I still play like a robot. What a n excellent lesson!!! Not only good points to aim for, but but in my case also hope that these things can be "learned" and don't have to be given as a talent. Thank you

Hey Marcela, they can definitely be learned! I teach them in every song in lessons in my Sax School if you want to dive deeper into it and get these ideas down faster. Here's the link: www.scottpaddocksaxschool.com

I really think ur class was very useful... Fanny is how, I learned most of these techniques by playing over time.. it's good for a player to respect the grace of time.

Absolutely!! I should do a video on that. If you really want to play a melody, phrasing like a vocalist it key!
