How to make a table of contents in word

In this video I show you how to make an automatic table of contents in word. You firstly need to change the 'normal' text style so the size and font of the table of contents will be the same as the rest of the text. Then you need to go to references and select table of contents. An automatic table of contents is then created using the heading styles and the contents can be reformatted. The table of contents can be updated if the number of pages or the sections change. This is a very useful feature for writing a thesis/ dissertation. Also if you press Ctrl and then click on one of the headings in the contents it will take you to that section in the document.
I wouldn't normally number the abstract, this is just an example.
A contents can only be made like this by using words official style headings. To see how to do this you can watch my previous video:

@@jeffochieng8398 you need to make sure your headlines are in one of the heading styles. Have you done that? Just highlight the heading, and choose one of the options in the 'Styles' section in the homepage that have 'Heading' written underneath them. Also if you don't like the way any of them them look, I believe they can be modified to look the way you like.

Update: I figured it out. I had to base my custom style on "Heading 1" and not on Normal and it finally worked

No matter what, TOC shows up on the right side of page(right outer margin). Why? Strangely, that somehow messes up the rest of the pages when I shorten the screen size of the page so four pages can be shown at once. The next page (5) under, is gain shown on the right side(meaning right outside margin)!! Sometimes two left pages can show up. Huge confusing problem. Can you help?Thanks!
Ps. I use mirror margins for book.
Margins 0.65 for top, bottom, left, right and 0.63 for gutter.

Hi, my mom is creating a 6x9 paperback book. Her current table of contents has misaligned page numbers. Do you think this could fix that, or will it generage a new table? I should probably add that her table is a few pages in.
