Here in the states, centerpin fishing has really taken off. I use a variation of what we call a wallace cast, which is a cross body cast. Leaving the float hanging down a good 7-8ft. as we cast, we spin up the spool by pulling line straight down off the bottom of the spool, creating very good distance. Danny Coliville with Colville Outfitters has some good casting techniques on his channel. You should check him out.

Another fine video, glad you found your reel, stick with the centre pin, there really is nothing quite like it for both presentation and also the direct connection with a hooked fish, it really adds to the capture in my opinion, tight lines.

Thank you, I wish I had bought a centre pin years ago.

A very pleasant and enjoyable outing - thank you for sharing it. Winter fishing can be challenging indeed, but it’s always a welcome opportunity to get outdoors.

Nice vid, this stretch has always been hard but comes into its own in winter. Just upstream of the wooden rickety bridge that goes along the edge of the river is a good spot for chub, and the carriers produce some surprises as well

Thank you for your comment and the tip about chub.

So glad you foud tour reel. The centre-in is a very nice one and rather like a fly reel-maybe that's why you adapted so well to it? l ove simple reels and gear (I am a fly fisherman. :-)

You've missed out on years of pleasure, trotting with a Centrepin Peter. I have 4 or 5 pins myself which I've been using for years on end. Try taking the line off & winding it on with the Line coming off the top of the drum, I still don't get the Idea of it coming off the bottom, AND, feels wrong for me with the winding direction. When Trotting, "Batting" in the line at the end of your swim is much easier that way.

Thank you for your advise, I have been thinking of rewinding the line to come off the top of the reel. I do agree that the centre pin is a lovely way to trot a float.
