Hello I'm a brazilian boy! "... Ş'up!... I'm brazZilian 2...she's awesome, dayyum... I luv English, there's a sound on the word Dat make me fly high... #Italo_Cristian it was here..."
Ronnie, you are the best teacher in my opinion because you are so funny. I love the other teachers too, but you are my favorite one. I love your style of teaching us so much. Keep on being like this. I LOVE YOU, LOL. :-)
Hi Ronnie! Thank you so much for your wonderful lessons! I love and enjoy them so much. :) I was wondering if there's any chance you could teach us vocabularies and expressions related to body pains, health or when visiting the doctor. Thanks again !! Best wishes
Hi, I can relate this missing "S" sound! I think it's culturally engrained. First, I know many Asian languages don't have an "ending sound", so pronouncing the "S" at the end is just something Asian people are not accustomed to do. Second, in my language, Vietnamese, we say 1 cat, 2 cat, or many cat; thus, cat is singular regardless of how many there are. Or we can perfectly say "Yesterday I eat a lot but she eat more!" Man, verb agreement is a other story! Over all, it's more of a cultural habit (bad habit in this case when you're learning English). Trust me, there are many silly habits that we aren't aware of, especially when most are learning just enough English to get by. They really can't distinguish the mistakes subconsciously. I know a few adults who went to elementary school here but still consistently making basic grammatical errors. Go figure! Unless these speakers are consciously analyzing their bad habits and making a good effort to change, there's no way that I see your pet peeves get subsided! :-))
Since you've been the longest standing teacher with Engvid and are still active, I was just wondering if you could tell me how someone can become a teacher with Engvid? Thanks in advance!
love you you're the best teacher I am from Lebanon the best language is English I adore English so I am trying to get stronger and stronger so keep sharing video that make us flointly please concentrate about under standing the sentence or I meant to talk like us
Another perfect lesson for my students. I'm gonna make it obligatory for them to watch it :-). Thank you, Ronnie. BTW-my favourite mistake made constantly by one of my American friends (an ESL teacher) was saying 'I says" all the time, wrrrr. When I asked her why she was doing that, the reply was "everyone in my village talks like that". Quite a teacher, wasn't she?
The reason that "I like cat" mean "I like to eat cats" is that when an animal is referred to in the singular tense, it means the MEAT of the animal. "I like chicken" is a common phrase, but "I like chickens" is not as common a phrase since most people don't have strong feelings about the birds while they're alive or enjoy the company of chickens. It's not that the word "eat" is implied, but rather that the name of an animal (and sometimes other objects) is the way to refer to the material it's made of, it's "dog-ness". You could say "I like cow" as in to eat cow meat, but for the common meats you would say the Anglicized-French word for the food "I like beef", beef being the English loan word from "Beouf" in French. That has to do with British history which you can read about seperately.
l really gland to call you "teacher"because l am a learner. simple to explain but it easy to understand thnks about the video, l had been learning lot of your video.
