Melissa Clark is back in the studio kitchen for another round of Shortcut vs. Showstopper, where she makes a dish two ways: One is simple and one is a more challenging, best-ever take. In this edition, Melissa’s making … s’mores! First up: her Oven S’mores, which are made in a broiler and ready in five minutes. Then, she’ll make her S’mores Tart, which takes the elements of s’mores - marshmallows, graham crackers and melty chocolate - and recombines them in an elegant way. Instead of toasted marshmallows, you have a billowing meringue singed with a blowtorch. Which will you make? (Maybe both?) The choice is yours!

Still here asking for proper closed captions. the auto generated ones always have errors and omissions and are insufficient access for those who need them.
It’s absolutely ridiculous that a channel as huge and well-off as this one has such a basic accessibility feature missing. They should be embarrassed.
@@lunarmagpie619yep. they just added CCs to the latest mystery menu - my comment got a lot of likes and replies in agreement - but it seems that was not the case for this, or I assume other recent videos of theirs where I've commented asking for CCs.. so..
Yes!
I make a s'mores rice crispy treat. It's the same recipe as your basic rice crispy treat recipe, but half of you're crispies you sub for golden grahams and you toast all the marshmallows in the broiler first. Once they're set, you dip the tops in confectioners chocolate. They were a hit in my Christmas tins last year.
I appreciate that she puts the marshmallows on their flat sides - I learned the hard way making oven s'mores that they will roll off if you put them on their round "sides".
She’s glowing! Very enthusiastic and playful with some useful tips and on-point comments. Love to see it 🍫
NYT cooking suggestions are consistently very cool and modern.
oooooh pennies as pie weights.... brilliant! It seems like every kid in her neighborhood would want to hang out at the Clark house- everything she makes looks so fun. Also can we talk about meringue and its sad end in the refrigerator? Anyone else? lol
I'm so glad to be getting so many NYT cooking vids back to back. Summer and late fall/winter holiday season are cooking prime time.
Love me some Melissa. Always informative.
one time i made oven smores for me and my seven roommates, put the smores on the top shelf and they caught on fire in less than a minute! set off every smoke alarm in the house, but no one got hurt and the huge charred marshmallows looked really cool-- made another round and they were very tasty (one roommate sandwiched hers with a tortilla chip bc we ran out of cookies and enjoyed it)
The shortcut smores look so easy to make!! I'll have to give it a go sometime this summer
Love it! Thank you!
looks really delicious. Cooking is also an art
Looks delicious.
Whoa! Love this!
So Delicious recipe ❤️❤️❤️❤️
shoulda gotten some of those girl scout cookies that are perfect for smores!
I LOVE Melissa Clark!
Very Nice
🙂
Melissa Clark is giving me a blessed Just Kidding Rowling. Like an AU where she was your favorite Kindergarten teacher turned chef. I love it.
Roundabout way to basically say "She looks like JK Rowling"
@@Lucario1121 very that, but without shewhomustnotbenamed. But you took it straight there 👏

Please fix your glasses so they don’t slide down your nose. Properly fitted glasses don’t slip thus no need to constantly adjust them.
Um, a whole wheat cracker is not automatically a Graham cracker. If you really want something that tastes like a Graham cracker, I think you'll want to use some Barley flour.
There's no barley in graham crackers. Take a look at the ingredients of graham crackers listed on the box of any standard brand. The first ingredient is "Graham flour (whole wheat flour)". What makes them graham crackers is the ingredients added to the whole wheat flour.
Stopped watching when I saw Hershey's. That is not edible.
Too much “humor”.
People like s’mores? I always found them to be annoying to make, eat, and clean up after
Sometimes people like things you don't.
