Here's the thing: whether you spend 5 hours on the video or 50 hours, we will either watch it or we won't. Don't overthink it Jenn. POST WHAT YOU WANT.
It would be nice to see a Couch Conversation with some of the older natural hair vloggers about how being a vlogger has changed for them,; their history of vlogging on family, lifestylle, and hair,; and more (including, how to transition out of hair content!)
Motherhood is just exhausting. There's so much that you have to do for everyone, and you just keep going because you have to. Yes, there are a lot if things you enjoy but there's only so many hours in a day. You have to figure out what yout willing to let go of to keep yourself sane!
You have what I have…Superwoman Complex 😂. I am the mother of 6 ranging in age from 21 to 41 (including two sets of twins that are only 14 months apart and two older singletons). All this while being one of only 3 black female sergeants in a California law enforcement agency with over 7000 officers (and the only one in the entire state of California to be found out on the streets within my agency … stressful to be the only representative for little girls and boys of color that they might ever see…but that’s another topic…) With the older two, I was so busy trying to provide a good standard of living that I missed so much of their lives. I wanted to cry when I realized that too late. I did more while the younger 4 were growing up but my need to be everything to everyone caused the Superwoman Complex and my physical and mental health suffered. Having said all of that, I have had an incredible 27 year career and since retiring I have traveled to 56 countries and I am truly living my best life! I say all of this to get to my point of answering your questions. Do you Boo! Haters are gonna hate. But there are far more of us that appreciate you and we will stay tuned for all of the twists and turns! I may have come across your channel through hair videos but I continue to watch because of your spirit! Follow your passions for as long as they serve you. When you need to pivot, do it! I enjoy watching you talking through issues and you bring value to my life in that way. Enjoy your journey and thank you for taking us along. ❤❤
Like someone else said…Grace. Motherhood is a journey and your child is constantly moving through phases which you have to adjust to, moving, crawling, eating, walking, talking! And if you have another one everything starts over! I always tell friends once your youngest is in kindergarten is when you can kinda breathe. In the meantime, prioritize what’s most important ❤
Awesome video Jenn. I have always enjoyed your videos. Whether about hair or not. My hair is not 4c and I have locs now for the 2nd time. I want to admit to you that I always loved the styles you created ( still do) from years ago. Always so cute. However I was jealous ( in a good way) of your creativity. Oh and as the years went on and we were able to learn more about you and see your growth it was and is amazing. You are down to earth, honest and funny. Loving you as a mom. Jenn all that to say keep putting out whatever video you want. I’m here for it. The series or videos on mental health are great. Maybe do a video on journaling and maybe some more grocery hauls and cooking. Cause hey we all gotta eat. Love you Jenn. A sis from the East Coast of the USA ❤
Jen, do what makes you happy. The real ones will stick around. You always have something to talk about. There’s so many topics to discuss besides hair. Don’t limit yourself to one thing. I work a 9-5 and I actually have no issues with it. It’s not for everyone but it does give you that time on some occasions to do what you need to do for yourself. I commend you all for the hard work and dedication. Keep going girl!!
Totally understand where you’re coming from about adjusting. I have a 2 year old and still feel like I don’t have the hang of it completely. It is challenging to find balance, however, I have just learned to let go for the most part. Plan some me time during the week where I can, and as long as I can get that, I have done well for myself.
I enjoy your videos! I think the couch conversations are great! The conversations are valuable and necessary. Keep doing what you’re doing, your true supporters will continue to watch.
I started a nonprofit before I had my first daughter and 3 years later I haven't had time to focus on it. At first I cried because I started something that I now have on pause. I never really had a chance to have post partum depression I feel like because I had to keep working and taking care of my kids. Now I try to just make sure my girls are loved and have what they need until they are both 5 years old and I'll reevaluate my life. I have accepted my new life and I'm grateful to be a part time stay at home mom. Some days are easier than others for sure
I feel you! We have to constantly balance between motherhood and life and work. I hope you can pick things back up even if just a little bit at a time. I think it’s important so is to do something for US as we give our all to our families. Wishing you all the best ❤️
Jenn J what drew me to your channel was of course how you loved up on your Natural Hair 🥰💙.. however I’ve seen you blossom into this beautiful woman right before my eyes! 🫶🏽.. Definitely continue to create content that you truly enjoy.. to be honest individuals will always have something to say no matter what you post 🤔
the creator in me understands what you are going through but the viewer in me is like POST THE CONTENT!! lol honestly i will listen to you talk about anything because i know that you do your research and are intentional so whenever you have the capacity we will be here ready for whatever you want to share
I must of missed the couch conversation but I would say I would love for you to have conversation with people of all ages like hearing what the current teens are dealing with vs what gen z and millenniums have dealt with. I also would love conversation with people who are either all natural, who only do braids, who perm their hair etc.. and if they have been natural vs why they do the hair the way they do it. LMAO during my PMS my body forces me to check in with myself. Lmao Jen you should have did the eye mask after the mask or vice versa. Growing up my parents made us go on a family vacay every summer and i am truly grateful for it because now i rather travel then be in the club and its not normal for ppl in my age group (aka my 20s).
@@JennJackson I have a whole paragraph /chapter about the amount of thank you's I have for you. I reflected on some of your videos after you had baby girl. You gave a lot of info about induction/c section etc, that I took to heart. I recently gave birth to my baby girl and I thanked the Lord and Jen, my body did her thing naturally although I was scheduled for an induction. Even in labour I reflected on your info and told myself I could do it. And thank God for my gynae thinking of my health more than their pocket
Thank you dor this video, so many pieces of our lives keep moving and us keeping up yet still making plans and showing up is such a challenge, this video has just inspired me to check in with my self and figure things out😅
Jenn J you are incredibly talented & skilled at creating content, never forget that 💯. When your soul calls for change, even if it takes a while, it will succeed!! Just use new parameters to analyze your success. These commenters have 'low-key' traumatized you & don't judge yourself for that, you're human 💐❣️ I for one will be right here for the new content!
the climate thing is real asf! I live in Canada too and rn it's hot asf, like we completely skipped spring and went straight into summer. In the winter I can go 8 days without rewashing but I've noticed since its gotten hotter plus the gym, I can only go 5 days. But I just tweak the routine accordingly. every 5 days I wash with a moisturepoo and roughly every 2 weeks I'll use an all purpose shampoo
Definitely enjoyed hanging out with you🥰🥰🥰 also the clothing thing, im not buying anything il wear what i have, as long as im not naked going out. Coz wow i don't know what style is and it pains me😂😂
Thank you for sharing with us. First off, who gives a flying 2 birds what people say. They are always going to have something to say. If it's good or bad. Continue with you Couch Converstion because it will touch the person it's need to reach at the end of the day. This passion is in you not them. Secondly, I had a 2 pound 1 ounce baby and I knew something was going on when I went back to school online to complete my degree. In retrospect I feel like I just needed something for me but, it ended up being a heavy load with baby being so sickly and in the hospital for 3 months. So, I'm saying there as women we juggle a lot of balls. I began to see it as some being rubber balls and some are glass balls. If you don't catch all of them extend grace to yourself and be ok with it. We're always giving grace and mercy to others and we forget about ourselves. So think about what would be your glass balls and its different for everybody. I thought of this while watching the movie "Inside Out." Just like I remember some precious things that my parents did with us. That's what I strive to create for my girls and my life. Lastly, I think you should try turning this video on, closing your eyes, finding a comfortable place and opening your ears and heart to receive all the gems that you dropped in this video. The race is not given to the fastest but the one who endures to the end. So sorry so long. Rooting for sista!!!
Guuurl what’s going on with those eye patches?!😂🤣 Do what makes you feel Good! Because if and when you force yourself it will show and will not help you as a creator in the long run💕

(and, mind you, there’s only one 1️⃣ first time) ; I think that to get the best from yourself is to know that part of being balanced is knowing how and when to be flexible. Gotta have goals in the first place to be flexible with, right? Your wonderful goals you graciously shared with us sound so exciting! I’d break them down in subcategories and sub-increments of time : MONDAYS Meal prep for the week may have to be adjusted to just the next 3 nights… The 1 & 1/2 workout at the gym may have to be.45mins. Don’t be discouraged by what you can’t accomplish, be excited about what you’ve accomplished. What’s that ??? 😳 You were too sick to get out of bed and hubby or ‘Grammy’ took care of ‘Baby Bops’ - “You’re still a winner bcuz your flexibility let you know that there’s much accomplishment in taking care of yourself and ‘layin’ it down when you need to - you know what YOU need. Finally, like any satisfying trip to a buffet : an assortment of delicious things but if you put too much on your plate 🍽️ something will spill and if you try to taste everything that’s being offered, you’ll be so outstretched (hahaha 😂 literally too) that you prolly won’t be happy with the experience and nothing would stand out as special or enjoyable.
