    Not bad for a first attempt. Next time, maybe don't hold the spray can so close and use thinner coats. Spend a little more time with the sandpaper and the paint will look better.
    The main thing is that it sounds good and you had some fun building it. The feeling of satisfaction in building something yourself is well worth the time and effort.

    Nice work for first. Next time if you spray don't hold the can that close. Hold it around 20-30 cm from the surface. Also try to slowly move your hand one direction from the other, that way the paintjob will be more consistent. There are a lot of videos here about spraying technics.

    Pre-dril holes for screws will help to not crack the wood or broke the screw. BTW nice build at final.

    Nice video. After the primer and colour, did you apply any finish coat? I think I would have contacted thomann about the screws..

    • @mortygill
      @mortygill  2 года назад +2

      Thank you! That means a lot.
      I didn't use anything other then primer and the color itself. Maybe I should apply one?
      I actually did contact them, and they offered to pay me back up to $10 if I bought new ones and showed them the receipt for the purchase.
      The main issue was trying to fasten the tuners with the "screw remains" still in the headstock.
      I was afraid that if I drilled the screws to pieces I would ruin to much of the wood to be able to fasten the tuners.

    Hey nice build! What pickguard did you use?

    • @mortygill
      @mortygill  Год назад +1

      Thomann had a HB "tortoise"pick guard for theire P-passes. Seams like they have removed it from the site.

    I like the headstock accent, execution could of course be improved but gotta start somewhere :-) some more sanding and bit more practice cutting. Maybe work on the paint, there's good tutorials on the tube. I'm pondering restoring a very old j bass copy I've had laying around for ages and I probably couldn't do much better. It needs a new neck..

    Maybe don’t hold the can so close the the bass when spraying but really great build

      Thanks! Yeah, definitely. Lighter touch on the spraybox an further away is definitely something I could do better.
