Love your videos!! Great comparison. I own a ‘22 SAS and love it. The most annoying thing on the bike as many will tell is the signal switch which was replaced in the ‘23 model. I learned how to use it so no issue for me. The other thing is that initially had some electronic gremlins like keyfob not in range or Preload warnings… again many people reported. What I learned is that once you turn on the bike, give it 5-7 seconds to complete the loading cycle before you actually turn it on. Once I followed this practice I did not get any warnings… ride safe!!!
Haven’t tried the Ducati recently but on my second SAS and find its flexibility is superb, it suits my height, 5’8”, and I live off road and take it off road, just change the tires and mode. Thanks for the comparison, good stuff!!
I have a 2023 Sas and love it. The Ducati may be a better bike in some eyes but in the UK there's at least a 5k difference in price and I don't think there's a 5k difference in the bikes. Just my opinion obviously.
Years of riding a HD and recently going to a GSA , during the transition I tested a Ducati for couple of days. Found the Ducati an exciting bike to ride but similar to the HD In handling ( not good at low speeds ) have not ridden a KTM but wished I would have
Hello! I'm coming from KTM but, at the end, i've changed for Ducati! You are asking "why"? Because even if i' falling in love for KTM, my bike had always many trouble on high speed stability, and i wasn't able to have a right feeling on the steering... Ducati, less gorgeous than KTM, it's an amazing, perfect gun... even if she don't make me a smile when i switch on the engine like KTM. But i smiling when i turn his throttle and the road becomes easily more and more tiny... bye from Italy!
100%. I have 14 1190 that I have fought wobbling issues with significantly after much troubleshooting. Even spent money at dealership without solution. So I have no confidence riding fast how I want to or even dare attempt topspeed. Considering multistrada but ktm already paid off 😔. Buying new ktm that may wobble would be infuriating.
thank you for this video, but what about MTS V2S vs. SAS 1290S ? I know power difference is huge but MTS V2S can offer lot of for better price...what do U think?
Then there's a KTM 890 Adventure that's also available for less and does some things much better than SAS. So 890 Adventure vs Multistrada V2 S comparison is coming in the following months.
V-Told. I have watched a bunch of your videos but not seen a clear Overall "winner". Unless I missed it hidden somewhere. Of all the heavyweights, which is the best overall? How about mids, like 700-900?
I’ll make a full segment overview at some point. Technically there are different bikes that are best in a variety of tasks. Otherwise it’s an overall personal preference and I’d say that likely a BMW R1250GS would - and in my opinion too - should be considered the closest to the top. But then in terms of engine performance, I’d point to a KTM, comfort of riding - Tiger 1200 GT. GS demolished others in terms of handling, balance, stability and by being good in every area other than sound ;)
I only got to test the Multistrada v2s and the skyhook suspension was the best one I got to feel undery brown button. I would assume that de v4 also has one.
That’s a scary topic. I’ve had some observations regarding a Super Adventure R myself which were not the most encouraging despite it being an almost totally new motorcycle. There is always some risk, but it seems that with KTMs it may be higher than average. It wouldn’t stop me though.
Some guys have no issues, others including myself keep the bike more in service than on the road . I have a 2022 super adventure s with a misfire issue around 3000km which KTM cannot fix apparently (four times in service for this issue and it's still not fixed).
It was probably the flywheel. They machined them wrong on some of them and the gap between the flywheel and ignition pickup is out is spec causing a mid fire or hesitation, usually at the same RPM range every time.
Now I can answer in my question I buy 2023 super adventure s I made it fully tuned 160,8 hp in rear wheel no problems till now works perfectly this mashine gives you only smile and fear when you open full power is amazing bike
I was looking at a 1290 Adventure at Ponderosa (bike meet at Llangollen, North Wales) this morning. It's impressive, but what struck me was how small and how thin the seat was. You just know this is going to be a bum-crippler after two hours or less. For the role the bike is intended for, I consider this a criminal offence!
@@VToldsMotoShow Thank you. I am South African. My family came from Königsberg, which is now Kalliningrad, to South Africa 300 years ago. I would love to visit Poland one day as I still think of the country as my motherland....
Very, very welcome! I even address this terrible misunderstanding in 2 weeks from now after someone also brought it to my attention. But I’m going to blame RUclips anyway as they mention a vast majority of male audience. So I complied - wrongly, I admit :). Definitely hello then!
@@VToldsMotoShow OK, so ladies and gentlemen are sorted, what about other gender species? Are they welcome here too? You should welcome all LPG :D community. Otherwise it's not politically correct. HAHAHA only messing with you.
The KTM is more off road bias the Ducati is a better road and touring bike, with both bikes nearly 250kg neither are going to be real off roaders. So it's a decision do you compromise road ability for a bit more off road, but still have a compromised off road bike?
I'm not sure of the Super Adventure S's off-road focus. Perhaps one could say that about the R and it being so tall may indeed influence how it rides - especially at higher speeds, but the S? I would hesitate to say that.
Performance, looks and sound goes to KTM? Over the multistrada V4S? Are you crazy? Ducati and all it’s bikes core fundamentals are performance in all their bikes. There is no way a ktm can out perform multistrada. Again, another biased video for the mutlistrada. A better comparison would be gs1250 and a ktm.
It doesn't matter what are which manufacturer's fundamentals, marketing slogans or history. We're talking about the two specific models. Try to ride the V4 below 4000 RPM and then try KTM. That's where the most visible difference in performance is. Why should Ducati be performing better in fact? It's got 170 HP vs 160 HP in a KTM. Ducati has 6.25% more. Then there's 125 Nm in a Ducati vs 138 Nm in a KTM, so 10.4% more in a KTM. 10.4%>6.25% if we're down to such data. But there's weight, gearing, grip etc. to take into account and subjectively to me, performance on a KTM feels better and the bike seems quicker with better-accessible performance in lower RPM. One may, however, prefer Ducati's way of delivering power but "core fundamentals" are not a thing that can back that up. Sound? V2 vs V4 and V2 will always win to me. Just like V8 sounds to me better than V6. Subjective and not important therefore. Same with looks. Here's mentioned R 1250 GS vs KTM 1290 Super Adventure for you: ruclips.net/video/-wk1J3LF4L8/видео.html
KTM it´s incredible I’m an owner one of this, and I recommend test it at lets one time

KTM owners are actually KTM quality testers 😊

Dude, Ducati looking is way more beautiful than KTM. 😁
Not to me. I like them with sharp edges more.
Its easy to see why KTM wins because of price, fuel economy, and maintenance costs that part you didn't touch on.
i have a multi PP 22 and had the ktm SAS 20 and rode the 23 of my buddy. Ducati is another planet, at least the pikes peak.🤘
Awesome comparison 👍
I'm glad you like this one!
Which of the two would work best for daily commute

@VToldsMotoShow Thank you. Yeah, the sound is terrible. One of the reasons I'm looking at non-GS. Lol
Love Ducati, but hate the maintenance and always made me nervous on long trips.
Have you ever done a test drive with an Aprilia Tuono V4? If not, would it be nice what your findings are?
Nah, my back and wrists would be very upset with me if I did.
Which one has no stability wobbling issues at high speed?
KTM
Just sold my KTM 1290 R.Thanks.
Why you sold it
I only got to test the Multistrada v2s and the skyhook suspension was the best one I got to feel undery brown button. I would assume that de v4 also has one.
V2 S' suspension is amazing. Somehow I'm not as impressed with a V4 S myself.
Very nice video but what you think about ktm reability on super adventure in daily use

idk why these brands are termed high end/premium when they’re always entailed by each of their own issues and what not.
The little yellow car is nearly falling down 😮

It definitely would need to be replaced in my opinion.
I am interested to know which city is it that you are riding in?
KTM was ridden in Wroclaw and Ducati around the suburbs of Warsaw, both in Poland.

Wouldn't be so sure. But it's definitely a super refined bike.
