    I can only imagine how easily these will catastrophically detonate once penetrated like the bmp-3 and BMD-4s do. This is due to Russia not adhering to international insensitive munitions standards and their fuzes can be set off by overpressure once the hull is penetrated, the munition doesn’t even need to hit by shrapnel.

    France has a similar capability with the AMX10 RC : the light weeled tank is airdroppable, has a similar weight, a STANAG level 5 armor on the latest RCR version and it can play the role of a tank/armored vehicle destroyer with its 105mm gun. Not the same caliber as the Sprut but still a nice and punchy firepower : during the 1st Gulf War, Iraki tanks stood no chances against the AMX10 RCs

      @Violent Cabbage yes, the 105mm APFSDS shell has been designed to defeat the Soviet armor of its time: T64, T72, early T90.
      Both AMX10 RC light tank and AMX30 MBT use this ammo.
      But I agree it wouldn't be enough against the latest reactive armors

    • @remistiegler5302
      @remistiegler5302 2 года назад

      @Violent Cabbage I've seen footages of the Daguet Operation during the first Gulf War in which French AMXs destroyed Iraki T72s with ERA with great effectiveness. Both AMX models sent (AMX 30 and AMX10 RC) have an 105mm barrel.
      But I agree with you, this caliber is now obsolete, even against the early versions of the modern NATO MBTs.
      That's why I like the smart move made by the French army to replace its 90/105mm light tanks by the Jaguar. This new recon tank is equipped with a 40mm autocannon to smash anything that aren't MBTs and MMP/Akeron ATGMs to safely destroy MBTs while being under cover

    With drones knocking out tanks on their thin top armor , and insurgents knocking out tanks in their weak rear armor , why do tanks need heavy front armor ? I think this is the future , 4 of these are much more effective than one MBT . and they will get there first.

    • @robertlackey7212
      @robertlackey7212 2 года назад

      @Violent Cabbage I think there is a lot of room for gray areas , you might have good air defense but not in the valleys , or not on all the supply lines , or not above a certain altitude. I really think dollar for dollar ground based air defense is better because you can make the missiles so big and haul them around on trucks . How do you escape from a mach 16 missile with a 400Km range ? and if you figure that out the truck has 3 more just like it !

  • @bgshin2879
    @bgshin2879 2 года назад +2

    Thx.
    Judging by the dancing after firing, its max effective combat range would unlikely be over 1000m (TBH I would not feel comfortable firing anything beyond 500m). Also the missile firing demo shows it missed its target….
    Having a such big gun with huge recoil with such light body makes it almost useless as a tank but more useful as a fire support vehicle or assault armoured vehicle (basically APC with big gun) which does not carry troops and does not have the accuracy unlike most modern tanks.
    This looks good on paper, but in a battle theatre, easy target for 2/3rd gen ATGM and IEDs. I would be surprised if it can withstand even RPG7.

    Love the VDV. They learned the lessons of WW2 airborne operations- drop unsupported paratroopers into the middle or near armoured units and they get slaughtered while waiting for friendly tanks. Solution- DROP ARMOUR WITH THEM!

    • @profesercreeper
      @profesercreeper 2 года назад +3

      they couldn't have learned too much since they rarely deployed paratroopers in ww2. Many western countries consider their paratrooper light infantry and use them accordingly and has been very effective. Having armor with you exponentially increases the supply cost and with that comes the mindset of using ur paratroopers in non light infantry roles as you can see in Ukraine the vdv are being slaughtered.
