So for tracking, are you implementing a workaround with the sends on 9-24 that allow you to insert an external preamp and run direct out of the Box into your DAW? That's something I'm a little unclear on with the Box consoles. Are you stuck with only 8 simultaneous tracking channels or are the summing channels able to be routed to preamps (or just directly to the daw if line level already) and then into the DAW, back in through the return on the Box latency free--essentially giving you 24 tracks into the daw for tracking simultaneously? (I hope I'm making sense lol) I'm a full-size inline console guy. Trying to wrap my head around signal flow for the summing channels. Thanks for the vids. Great stuff!

But I don’t like to make a cue mix with my mouse and software. Is it possible to use the 16 summing faders while recording to make a controlroom mix instead of my interface software?
if it's a band, then I'll take a zero latency fold back from the lynx inputs so each person can do their own mix. Most vocal sessions I just send the main mix to the cue so they're hearing what I'm hearing but it's always possible to do a separate mix.
what is the best and most basic to record the program out of the console , do you patch your monitors and run the main 2 program outs to a bay so that you can patch in to your daw/and let half the signal run through to the speakers? This doesnt seem quite right in theory, and i wish they had a sum out to DAW feature.. so you can hear the full summed mix and track it at the flip of a switch? objective is to final bounce through the api, with compressor section engange and end up with one stereo wav file.
yeah, there's separate program out and control room out. Either have it normal in the patchbay to 2 inputs on your interface, or, I have it on loose cables, so I can patch the program output anywhere. and then monitor the recorded signal on one of the 2 track inputs.
Can I use my Neve 1073LB preamp via the insert in and out on the recording side of API THE BOX or how can it be used to record, I,m not using a DAW just a hard disc recorder?
well, the best way is probably to just go directly out of the Neve into the recorder. If you want to, you can plug line level directly into the 500 series of the Box to use an equalizer, and then you can use the direct out of the channel to record. The only problem is if you plug anything external into that 500 series, it disconnects the built-in mic preamp , so you can't just plug it into a patchbay and forget it. if you want to reach around to the back of the board it can work though. This is part of the reason why a lot of people don't use the 500 series rack in the board . I have enough EQs outside the board that it's not really an issue for me. If you only have a few, then I would keep them in an external rack for flexibility. I connect all of my external preamps to my patchbay. There's no reason to go through the board with them.

Actually I plugged my U87 into the 1073 in the Lunchbox and took the line out the back of the LB and put it in the insert return on the console, it worked fine, even with 48 volt phantom power. But I never gave it a thought to just plug the return straight into the channel input on the recorder. Its a good job you can help us on here because its useless looking on the internet.
@@hopetownsound I have 1/4” patchbays, and most of my studio is analog. I have an old Mackie 24-8 console, just got new MOTU 24Ai and 24Ao interfaces. Some outboard compressors, also just got my first 500 chassis along with 2 DBX 3 band eq‘s and the SSL UVEQ. My latest addition is an Otari MX5050 tape machine for mix down. I currently have 7 patchbays and will probably need a couple more.

Hi, yes this console only supports 8 channels of recording, for anything over that you just patch preamps into the DAW.
How do you route the talkback to you p16’s from behringer? Thanks for this video. It’s very clear to me now
The API sends the talkback to the Cue bus which i patch to channels 1/2 on the behringer
