great nep collection, probably the best one i’ve seen yet when it comes to variety. you have everything from my favorite species list except for argentii :)

      Thank you very much! It’s true, I don’t have N. argentii… yet! 😉

Nepenthes attenboroughii grows exceptionally well in pure mineral substrate like (Akadama-)Kanuma-Perlite

    •  10 месяцев назад +1

Thank you! I checked that again after posting the video and realized I already bought a bag of akadama just for it! I just forgot about it when I was recording. From what I understand, ultramafic species will do well in akadama, and N. attenboroughii is one of those. However I am wondering how to keep the cost low for larger pots that I don’t want to fill with akadama (I’m thinking about my N. rajah x burbidgeae). I don’t have kanuma; I could do 50/50 akadama/perlite, but even that will be a lot of akadama, if I start doing that for many of my plants.

I also want to try Fluval, this media used in aquascaping. Have you tried that?

I have not yet tried fluval stratum, but I know several people had great experiences with it. Yes, I cultivate some species exclusively in mineral substrate, namely N. attenboroughii, N. palawanensis, N. villosa, N. burbidgeae, N. rajah, N. argentii. Some previously thought to be difficult species start to be very handleable with the proper substrate. Kanuma is fairly low cost here, so I mix it 50/50 with Perlite and come down to about 60 cent per litre. Maybe comparing vendors in your area might be the solution! You'll definitely never go back once you switch!

@@acousticanimal5514 Thanks for the advice. This is great! If you have photos of your plants (Instagram account or something like that), don’t hesitate to share. I’d love to see them.

Glad to see a video! Do you still have your lowland tent set up??

    •  10 месяцев назад +1

Yes I do! I will make a similar video for the lowland tent. There are some amazing plants in there, I can’t wait to show them!

Larger tent? Sadly Christmas has passed already 🙂 The flytraps need some winterrest

    •  10 месяцев назад

I think I can reorganize things a bit better. I don’t have any more space for another tent, or for a larger one! 😕
