So so so so cool I love carnivorous plants
I’m about to get my first lowii!!!! This video definitely helps. I think if I ever have a problem with this plant, it will be due to over watering. I know you, and many others, say this plant really likes it to dry out because it lives as an epiphyte, but how dry is dry? I’m always scared that they will dry out too much, so if you could better explain how much I should let it dry out, that would help a lot! Thanks so much for your videos btw!
I'm also an overwaterer at heart 😅. The trick is finding a mix that will dry out quicker, I tend to wait till the top of the moss or top of the akadama looks dry, at this stage there is still some moisture in the core of the mix. Also adding more perlite or pumice to your mix will keep it airier and dry abit faster.
@@Eat-Me-Exotics ok thanks so much!!!
@@livingroom7609 not a problem, I hope it helps. Feel free to reach out if you have any more questions
amazing plants
Thanks, I do love the species. Just can't wait till they finally give me uppers
Definitely need to get one! Got a ephippiata and one of these lowii would make a good comparison.
There are such a great plant. I still need ephippiata but they are so hard to find in Australia
I've always wanted a Lowii but they are so expensive!
Really? How much?
@@tironjr Eat Me Exotics himself was selling 5cm seedlings for $130. They are very rare in Australia
@@australiancarnivores I have one which is small but not a Seedling and i paid 40€ which is 67.25 Austrialian dollars. It produces 1 inch Pitchers.
@@tironjr WHAT?!?!?! That's so cheap!!!
@@australiancarnivores Yes i have heard that here in Germany where i live the Prices are very low for Nepenthes and other Carnivores.😁🌱
N. lowii is a nerve wracking... you are right, it's so slow you never see it struggling before month laters. I repotted mine 2 weeks ago in 100% perlite with live sphagnum moss top dressing. Hopefully it will grow better/faster now... Cross finger! I like the mug by the way
I got it so long ago I had no idea what I was in for. Its definitely a very rewarding plant when you get it right. 100% perlite sounds interesting I'm keen to see how it goes.
@@Eat-Me-Exotics Akadama is super rare here in Canada... That's why! 😂
@@WindowsillNepenthes haha fair enough. Maybe check out bonsai groups they may have some leads. It's not the easiest to find here. I'm just lucky to have a big bonsai nursery near by
Yikes, 12-15 years? Better nog wait too long then to get me one!
Yeah they are very slow (nickname slowii) which is why I've bought so many in the past few years. If I loose one after 10 years hopefully I'll have more large plants as back ups lol.
@@Eat-Me-Exotics sounds like a plan 😅
