  • Howard Heitmeyer Teaches & Performs His Arrangement of “Cancion Mexicana”. Video circa 1992.
Welcome back! Here’s the next installment of videos I am posting of Howard Heitmeyer teaching and performing his arrangements of three anonymous songs: Two Mexican songs and the famous “Spanish Romance” that several famous artists over the past century have erroneous laid claim to in order to collect royalties. More on that later. These video clips came from the estate of the late actor, Maurice Sherbanée, in which I was gifted by his lovely family. Again, I found this clip on an old deteriorating VHS tape that belonged to Maurice and wanting to preserve and share this video clip with Howard’s closest friends, the second song generically titled, “Cancion Mexicana”.
I am sure you will appreciate Howard’s competent style of teaching, his wit/humor, and his masterful performance skill on the classical guitar. Much like Ted Greene, he also chose to teach the guitar over all the other musical career options open to him. Howard loved to teach, and you will soon realize that once you start watching.
This song arrangement is available to you here: www.dropbox.co...
Howard warns you not to freak out at the sight of 32nd notes (yes, he accidently said 64th notes). The tempo is tame. You can, however, simplify the score by reducing the 32nd notes to 16th notes, 16th notes to 8th notes, etc., and remember to rebar the music. This is a lot of work in my opinion.
I plan to post one more video of Howard Heitmeyer teaching and performing in the near future. Please subscribe if you haven't already and you will be notified when that happens.
