Howard Heitmeyer Teaches & Performs His Arrangement of “Cancion Mexicana” - Video Circa 1992
Howard Heitmeyer Teaches & Performs His Arrangement of “Cancion Mexicana”. Video circa 1992.
Welcome back! Here’s the next installment of videos I am posting of Howard Heitmeyer teaching and performing his arrangements of three anonymous songs: Two Mexican songs and the famous “Spanish Romance” that several famous artists over the past century have erroneous laid claim to in order to collect royalties. More on that later. These video clips came from the estate of the late actor, Maurice Sherbanée, in which I was gifted by his lovely family. Again, I found this clip on an old deteriorating VHS tape that belonged to Maurice and wanting to preserve and share this video clip with Howard’s clo...

Howard Heitmeyer plays his arrangement of “The Way We Were”. Video Credits: Maurice Sherbanée (1993). The theme song “The Way We Were” was composed by Marvin Hamlisch (1973) for the movie by the same name, staring Barbra Steisand and Robert Redford. This video clip was shot by his long time student, the late actor Maurice Sherbanée. I found this clip on an old deteriorating VHS tape that belong...
Ted Greene Revisits “’Round Midnight” 07/05/2000 - Part 4
Просмотров 908Год назад
Welcome back to part four of my video-taped lesson on “’Round Midnight” with guitar legend, Ted Greene! Here is “’Round Midnight”, Part 4, for this lesson's conclusion. I also added another “Grappling for…” edit screen to save you time when my brain starts ‘skipping frames’ and my rusty chops become unbearable. FYI, “grips” is a term for chords I borrowed from Ed Bickert. This video opens with ...

Welcome back to part three of my video-taped lesson on “’Round Midnight” with guitar legend, Ted Greene! Surprised? Yes, there is more! I renamed this lesson “revisits” because the purpose was to review this song from a previous lesson from January 2000, Parts 1 & 2 are already posted here on RUclips. There are some are new ideas and topics being introduced in this lesson. Rather than risk conf...

Welcome back to part two of my video-taped lesson on “’Round Midnight” with guitar legend, Ted Greene! After Ted said, “Shall we continue?” There was question as to the real melody in measure 4 in the previous video, I sung the actual melody for measure 4, remembering Linda Ronstadt did with the Nelson Riddle Orchestra here: ruclips.net/video/FxMN4N952Rk/видео.html You are really in for a treat...

As promised, here is the first installment from my video-taped lessons on “’Round Midnight” with guitar legend, Ted Greene! In my previous posting, we left off with Jerome Kern’s “Yesterdays” in search for songs to play in a medley with Thelonious Monk’s “’Round Midnight”. In search for a key, we arrived at Eb minor, a favorite key among seasoned sax players. Perfect! All the lead sheets I foun...

Happy New Year! Welcome, once again, to my personal video-taped lesson with guitar legend, Ted Greene! At the pinnacle of the Y2K bug threat, at the stroke of midnight on January 1st, 2000 when all electronics with an internal calendar-clock were to fail, the electronic apocalypse was averted. I work in IT. I expressed my desire to create a chord melody to commemorate this ‘near-miss’ with none...

"Circa" is a Latin word that means "around" or "approximately". It's often used as a preposition before a date to indicate that the exact time or date is unknown. For example, "He was born circa 1600".

So nice to see Howard's graceful fingers glide over the fingerboard once again. HH always finds the best keys to suite the sonority of the solo guitar. Here in the key of A with a low D 6th string tuning... it the perfect key to balance out the highs and lows.

i have the video of Tal farlow playing the solo of "my romance" with harmonics, very melodic, jazzy, that solo was a "song" ... you can play a solo in many way using altered notes , but if it does not "swing" means "does not come from the heart"(most of the great musicians said ,"play what you hear"..it takes a lot preparation, a lot of practice ,is like composing a song, Tal Farlow didn't read music..and he had the music in his brain ,in his heart, and he played what he felt to play.
