Who would have thought 10 years later Hideki Matsuyama went from lowest amateur on this day in 2011 to Masters champ in 2021.
sounds scripted doesnt it
great comment!
Yawn
Why cary middlecoff, Jack Nicklaus, Phil Mickelson, tiger woods, Ben crenshaw and Garcia were low amateurs At the Masters And ended up winning the Masters as pros. Just Like hideki matsuyama did
Tiger did in two years too lol
The greatest final round of a tournament that I've ever seen.
@TheMrLandon the last few holes of the third round at Torrey when Tiger went nuclear would've been awesome too
Man you have a low bar
So great. One of the best final rounds of all time
It really was. It's up there with 1986.
Hey! What're you doing in here!
no
In my opinion, this is the best overall Sunday at the Masters. Maybe not the most historic finish, but the entire day was filled with drama. You had no clue who was going to win it until the last shot.

10 years later the low amateur in 2011, wins the 2021 Masters, you came so far brother.
great comment!
Often remembered as the Masters that Rory and Tiger lost, fact is Schwartzel earned it with a blistering start and finish.
Are you saying that Danny Willet also "won" the tournament? This should be remembered as The Masters that Rory lost, just as '96 is remembered as the day Norman lost The Masters.
@@bradmiller9121 Don't see why I wouldn't say that, bogey free 67s win green jackets and duffs into ponds do not.
@@azapro911 WOW, just wow. Sorry. but I'm not buying your explanations for either, but that is my right to do that.
@@bradmiller9121 You can buy whatever you like, I believe in only selling the truth.
@@azapro911 The truth? Really. Willet shot 72/67 in the last two rounds, according Augusta National's web site, but I guess they could be wrong. If Jordan shoots 36 on the back nine on Sunday, instead of the 41 he did shoot, Willett is a name on the Leaderboard.
Charl Schwartzel has such an amazing golf swing, definitely one of the most underrated players of the last 8-10 years. He should be winning a lot more majors! He has everything, the swing, the talent, length off the tee, great touch around the greens, and a wonderful putting stroke, come on Charl you can win more and more!!! One cannot argue that he won this tournament by finishing with four birdies in a row, the only one to do that.
Unfortunately Rory lost control of his golf swing, he seemed to be forcing the issue out there!
Looking back at his career, the only conclusion is that he is just an average player and shouldn’t win the masters, the same as Danny Willet.
@@freegg123
An average player does NOT win The Masters and 15 professional tournaments in his career to date. You are living in a dream world if you think like that!
@@RG-ja34sep Is he going to be a Hall of Famer?

1:26:35 that roar from Tiger’s eagle is incredible.
Gives you chills.
At his peak, Tiger was dominant

Yes! Thank you so much for uploading this. One of the greatest Sundays ever at the Masters.
Back 9 was the best two hours of golf we had in the last 25 years.
So many had a chance at some point on this day. One of my favorite masters tournaments. I doubt Charl’s incredible finish will be matched anytime soon
Or his AMAZING start. Chip-in, then Wedge-in on the 3rd.
Imagine not seeing Choi or Schwartzel tee off, the second to last group. Not only disrespectful but also a big time mistake
The way Nick said “what?” After Rory’s tee shot on 10 encapsulated that entire moment
Never forget....KJ Choi was rocking SuperStrokes before it was cool...

2:52:38 When Tiger twirls the club like that you know shit is going down!
One of the sauciest club twirls of all time
The fact that literally none of these comments are abt Schwartzel is fitting...one of the most underrated Masters wins in recent history. Dude birdied the final 4 holes...
Geoff Ogilvy birdied 5 in a row on the back.....but we only remember Schwartzel's 4 in a row.
@@springhillgolfer878 Ogilvy 278, Schwartzel 274
Milky Way Galaxy yeah but Schwartzel did it on his way to victory.
blew a 4 shot lead what a meltdown! I love it! He did it again at Pinehurst #2!
Rory in 2011 and Jordan in 2016. Biggest choke jobs in recent memory. Charl Schwartzel and Danny Willett took home the Jackets
and for rory a character flaw was revealed that still haunts him at majors today, he is in an almost 10 year drought from age 24-33, should be prime rory instead it's mentally broken rory, he and spieth should start a chokers tour
Incredible Final Round in the 2011 Tournament. This Masters had it all.Big Thank you for uploading.Much appreciated in Western Australia !
so funny rory's appearance matched his golf game , disheveled, clown hair, shirt all untucked, he wore black i bet he had at least 5 lbs of sweat in that outfit
Tiger Woods missing 3 point blank range putts really cost himself the tournament. Standing in the fairway on the 13th, in the best position a player can have on that hole, with a 7 iron in his hand, Tiger walking away with a par was pretty much the beginning of the end of his real run at the Championship.
Tiger Woods missing 3 point blank range putts really cost himself the tournament.
Not The Firrst Time He Lost! Not The Last Time He Would Lose!😂🤓😎
Well he lost by 4
The other players missed putts too
Yeah, weird to see him rehearsing swings before every shot. Still wasn’t totally comfortable with the Foley action. He also used a different putter that week which shows he wasn’t happy with his putting
Amazing that Rory, with how young he was here, bounced back from disaster to absolutely destroy everyone at the US Open.
also beautiful that big mouth hasnt one jack in almost a decade at a major in the midst of his prime, or maybe he never had a prime
birdies the last 4 holes amazing. Well done Charl.
3:03:37
2:52:32 He never EVER gives up.
Club twirl baby.
Mad swagger. He knows he’s the king.
Charl played by far the most solid
That Japanese young man at the end is an outstanding individual
10 years later he’s the masters champion. A great achievement for him. Congrats Hideki.

Haha Tiger's post round interview was hilariously blunt
Tiger Is A Sore Loser!😂🤓😎

Dunno about "blunt". Sounds pretty pissy about his performance.
Closing with 4 straight birdies, is incredible, and his hole out from off the green on the first hole, with Faldo said appeared to be a 7 iron, was one of the greatest shots in tournament history. This is an edit after i watched the eagle 2 on hole no. 3 from the fairway. Unbelievable, kismet might be an apropos description.
One of the best masters , so many horses to a photo finish , high drama ,

I had completely forgot that Tiger was in contention in 2011
Oh yea. Thats part of what made this such a memorable Masters Sundays
Tiger almost always in contention at Masters. 2012 he wins easy w/o unlucky 15th hole on Saturday. So crazy golf gods smacked him down 2012

Easily one of the most thrilling finishes ever.
It's funny seeing Hydeki Matsuyama as an amateur back then knowing he just won this years Masters.
Who's here after Hideki's win?

4:18:56 is the clutch approach shot to win.
13:45 Faldo, having to present a 'shared' locker, ensures the audience are made aware that many other greats too, have to share, in the edited next scene hahaha
You can be angry with the shot you just made, but then you must forget it. That is how golfers become great.

37:27. The meltdown for Rory Mcilroy begins.
Lol
It didnt begin until the back nine imo
Jim nantz is wrong saying The last Time tiger had A tie for The lead was 2008 us open. He was tied with yang after 10 holes on Sunday at The 2009 PGA championship. 1:43:00
I felt soo sorry for Rory’s breakdown at 10. And it got even worse from there.
But the putter ruined it all from the start and took away his selfconfidence.
I was torturing myself by watching this. Can you guess who I was rooting for?
Feherty's call at 3hours:42 when Charl Schwartzel is on the 15th fairway was like a soothsayer predicting the future. Great tournament. Adam Scott had it in his hands on 15, then had The Open in his hands 12 months later....(we all know who won in 2013)..... turns out that having it 'in your hands' is something Jack Nicklaus knew well, 19 x times runner-up in 'majors'.
@2:52:46 Tiger twirl!
What a bounce back for Rory after this debacle winning the us open a couple months later
By 8 shots no less.
03:05:49 - "McIlroy did make his par" at 11. He actually didn't.
Peter Kostis again. At least at 3:09:44 Ian Baker-Finch corrected the record.
It’s pretty wild to see how much tigers demeanor has changed since is 2018 comeback all those trials and tribulations really seemed to humbled him and made him more respectful to the little guy. he hasn’t taken it for granted like he perhaps used to just his interactions with the media the fans and the other players is completely different perhaps he felt he needed to stay cold blooded to Maintain his mental edge and it was easier to block everything and everybody out to remain focused in his own little world but I think he’s found out that’s not the case you only need to maintain that between the ropes
2:40 funniest moment in golf history, rory in someones backyard, they shouldve shot him for trespassing
That shot by Tiger on 15 was the coldest thing I’ve ever seen. When Tiger starts walking as soon as he hits it, you know it’s money.
Rory McChoke
Ogilvy won the US open in 06 not 08 lol
01:40:05 Vintage Tiger
With a heel shafted putter? Wow....
And he promptly went on to do absolutely nothing else basically. Shows how hard golf is and how deep these fields are. How Tiger ever dominated like he did in this era is insane
4:00:24 Champions Swing!
Weird. I remembered Mcilroy being way further ahead for some reason. Like 5 or 6 shots clear or something.
2:35:10 Here is where it begins. Almost like Mickelson made that speech after the fact lol
Woods on 15 still gives goosebumps
24:01 That's my friend Melissa and me watching Rory on the practice putting green.
3:42:05 “Well, and heres the little 4 hole test if you want the green jacket.” - David Fehrety
I don't understand. 2:36:15 Rory hit his drive way RIGHT on 10. then hits his 2nd shot down the fairway from the LEFT side of the fairway between two cabins. 2:41:43 Am I losing my mind?
LOL At first sight, I thought exactly the same... but that object going right was the tee. If you look closely, the ball goes full speed to the top left corner of the screen. It's a shame Rory couldn't keep playing his tee instead of the ball.
@@FaltaDeRiego ha. You're right. I need glasses. This has been bugging me for 10 yrs. Thanks for solving the mystery.
It was a snap hook, at the Eisenhower cabin, if memory serves. As its off the left of the 10th fairway, and was originally either the stand-in for the clubhouse, that was yet to have been built. The first one the original layout, as the nines were reversed. The famous bunker, was a greenside trap, which places the green at that time, near or at the bottom of the hill. Perhaps making it a driveable par 4, in the 1930's...
The course history is quite fascinating. My apologies for my rambling attempt, at revealing some of the terra's lore. Slainte'
Great final round. I remember screaming at Tiger’s eagle on 8. I forgot how many shots he left out there on the back. Easily could have won this. The 3 putt on 12, not making a birdie on 13, missing 5 ft eagle on 15 and a makeable putt on 16
Yeah, a last round to remember for sure. Tiger of old would have won this no doubt. His putting problems started to act up on the back nine. If he had holed that putt on 12, I think he would've finished at least 3 shots better. I think that miss really rattled him mentally. If Tiger goes in to the clubhouse with -13, the rest of the field would have had a different mindset to the last holes. But you never know. And Charles held his nerve perfectly at the end anyway, so who knows what would've happened hadn't Tiger crumbled like that on the last 7 holes.
I’m here 2023 and I don’t see anyone ever beating Jacks record
Thrilling last day!
Imagine not seeing a single Martin Laird shot through six holes when he is playing with Tiger.

Well he is not playing this year, either is Fowler. Here is to hoping Mcilroy misses the cut so we can see some other players who are actually doing well.
3:55:20 Charl Schwartzel birdie #16
Hindsight is 20/20, but imagine being any carrier of golf, then or earlier or now. Having to show every single Tiger shot. Even when he isn't in contention. Even when there are the small minority of fans who really don't like Tiger for his morals or legal or rules of golf worries. Wait, they don't care about us. Imagine having to show literally every thing about him. Obviously he is a top five player of all time, but imagine having to show every single shot, disregarding the leaders, the groups with higher ranked current names. That's tough
14:50 - the champion leaves a club
I wonder what Danny Willett left. Spieth's club would have been better.
