    Charl Schwartzel has such an amazing golf swing, definitely one of the most underrated players of the last 8-10 years. He should be winning a lot more majors! He has everything, the swing, the talent, length off the tee, great touch around the greens, and a wonderful putting stroke, come on Charl you can win more and more!!! One cannot argue that he won this tournament by finishing with four birdies in a row, the only one to do that.
    Unfortunately Rory lost control of his golf swing, he seemed to be forcing the issue out there!

    Tiger Woods missing 3 point blank range putts really cost himself the tournament. Standing in the fairway on the 13th, in the best position a player can have on that hole, with a 7 iron in his hand, Tiger walking away with a par was pretty much the beginning of the end of his real run at the Championship.

As its off the left of the 10th fairway, and was originally either the stand-in for the clubhouse, that was yet to have been built. The first one the original layout, as the nines were reversed. The famous bunker, was a greenside trap, which places the green at that time, near or at the bottom of the hill. Perhaps making it a driveable par 4, in the 1930's...

    Great final round. I remember screaming at Tiger’s eagle on 8. I forgot how many shots he left out there on the back. Easily could have won this. The 3 putt on 12, not making a birdie on 13, missing 5 ft eagle on 15 and a makeable putt on 16

    • @merboberbo
      @merboberbo 2 года назад +3

      Yeah, a last round to remember for sure. Tiger of old would have won this no doubt. His putting problems started to act up on the back nine. If he had holed that putt on 12, I think he would've finished at least 3 shots better. I think that miss really rattled him mentally. If Tiger goes in to the clubhouse with -13, the rest of the field would have had a different mindset to the last holes. But you never know. And Charles held his nerve perfectly at the end anyway, so who knows what would've happened hadn't Tiger crumbled like that on the last 7 holes.

    Imagine not seeing a single Martin Laird shot through six holes when he is playing with Tiger.
    Part of the duodecuple edit: Imagine not seeing a single shot from the playing partner of Tiger Woods. A +1 73, with a T-20 finish. Not seeing a single shot from a top-20 finisher on the last day of competition.

    Hindsight is 20/20, but imagine being any carrier of golf, then or earlier or now. Having to show every single Tiger shot. Even when he isn't in contention. Even when there are the small minority of fans who really don't like Tiger for his morals or legal or rules of golf worries. Wait, they don't care about us. Imagine having to show literally every thing about him. Obviously he is a top five player of all time, but imagine having to show every single shot, disregarding the leaders, the groups with higher ranked current names. That's tough

    Have to admit, I've never heard of that Schwartzel guy. Possibly that's because, here in Australia, everyone was only talking about how many Australians just managed to... not win :P

    Sometimes I think announcers exaggerate bad final round play as meltdowns, sometimes a bad round is just a bad round but Rory clearly couldn't handle the pressure and imploded.
