Sorry if it’s not clear :( the bottom shelf is attached the same as the top with 2 knots and I snipped off the excess rope. Hope that clears up all the confusion. For those asking about my comforter, it's from Walmart and you can still get it in some stores. Here is the link to buy online - FLORAL COMFORTER bit.ly/2WNDQXl
Looking at your thumbnail and the title hooked me cause the first thing I thought was you can't get no wood like that at the dollar tree. Brilliant thinking outside the box.
Great way to provide people with a inexpensive way to afford home decor they may otherwise never have had the opportunity to enjoy! Totally inspired! Love it. 💘
Great idea! I've been looking for an inexpensive way to make shelves for my bathroom! This would work in my bathroom? Or would the cardboard frame degrade with the moisture? Thank you so much!
I searched 3 different Dollar Trees around me for these picture box things and couldn't find them, but went to Wal Mart and in their clearance section, they had them for $1.50 org. $7.99 apiece! Super thick, heavyweight material and durable. I'm guessing better quality... not that it matters, but does for what I'm going to use them for. I'm just psyched on the deal for these! They had 8 so I snatched up all of them to make these shelves for my plants. I'm a crazy plant lady and have over 100 house plants and need places to put these babies lol. Winter is coming so they have to come back inside soon. I'm not sure I'm going to make them as hanging shelves like this or use brackets just for the extra peace of mind since they will have potted plants in ceramic and terracotta pots sitting on them. I also went to Marshalls after Wal Mart and found a 4-foot long wooden picture box like these that I am also going to use as a self. It was on clearance for $4.99 org. $29.99 Thanks for the genius crafty idea!!
I seen the floating shelf in 5 below store, I was like I can make this cheaper and with more shelves. I didnt know exactly how to hang it up. I will use your idea on that, but I am using old skids from stores. Hubby has A LOT colonge, its overwhelming the dresser and stand. Lol. I am glad that you made this video, I will now do mines!!! Thank you so much!!
OMGGGG ive been bugging my husband to get a shelf on the window so i can hang my succulents!!!! Ahhhhh im making it ASAP!!! Thank you so much because floating shelves are not cheap and i haven't been able to find a small one that fits ny window BUT I CAN MAKE IT MYSELF NOW!!!! Hahahah thank you!!! ....... ..... btw.... subscribed now!!! Hahaha
I have never heard so many actually useful tips in one video before. Like I've never heard or thought of these like the tape, the hole punch paper, the lighter to the frayed twine. SO GOOD AND SO USEFUL
I just made this except I wrapped the edges of the shelf in twine and it’s SO NICE!!!! I made it for my bathroom I wish I could add a picture...this tutorial was so easy to follow and I LOVE the end result!!!! Thank you!!
Thank u sooo much for this idea, I couldn’t find much stuff that was mentioned in the video at my dollar tree so I just cut some scrap wood stained it and attached the rope and it turned out amazing it was basically free for me I had almost everything on hand!
Thank you so much I need a shed in my bathroom an bedroom ,I especially love the double shelves for my bedroom, ooooh yeah, on my way to dollar Tree now. Thank you so much💯💯💯💯💯💕💞
thank you for the tip on marking the rope! I've had this project in my mind for a while now, anticipating how in the world will I get the shelves level. i don't know why I didn't think of marking the rope! Great Tip!
omg you are so freakin damn genius creative with your little ideas (ie: lighter the rope, hole punch measure square, taping the rope ends to make it easier to go through the holes, etc). they may seem little but make the entire project much better and easier to work with!
Jay Munee DIY I absolutely love this dt diy!!!💖👍🏻shelves can be super expensive so this is a great way to save money and display some nice decor! Thanks jay!❤️
Thanks for the idea! My boyfriend & I are about to move into our apartment with not much storage or wall space so this is great to add a little more room for decor!
Very good. I could seeing using two with similar abstract designs and not have to paint the top. For those looking thrift stores see to have hundreds of these kinds of "art" pieces that go very cheap and maybe a little stronger with wood supports. Also different sizes. I need a propagation station so I'm going to give it a try. thank you.
This is so helpful . I’m in need of more storage in my studio and the cost for shelves can be very high or out of my range. This looks like something I can do myself. Clever and affordable.
This is awesome! I live in an apartment and have been wanting to make a cheap shelf that wouldn't damage the walls. I think I'd just make it 1 tier for my purposes, but just edit this way a little bit and use those Command hooks (the things I want to put on the shelf are very very light)
this is amazing I've been trying to find a way to add some wall shelving for my dorm without needing to drill holes into the wall and this is perfect plus it's super cute!
I happen to need some bathroom shelves... and this is a new-to-me idea. I love the way you repurpose modest materials for a greater effect, and the rings especially are a nice touch!
Dollar tree just started to sell these exact materials (sub canvas for wood boards) In a pack together to make hanging shelves! They are always watching creative RUclipsrs , I know it !
Really great tutorial! Thank you so much! My contribution to it is this: if you don't want to drill and screw the two frames together you can just glue 2 same size sheets of strong cardboard or foamcore on top and bottom of the shelves. And you can also wrap and glue the rope around the top and bottom shelves in such a way that it looks really good too, without using the drill to make holes to run the rope through.
I love this project. So creative and affordable. I have been wanting a hanging shelf but wasn't sure if I wanted to buy all the wood and stuff, but this is genius. Thank you so much!!
I love this idea! This shelf such nice addition to any room. I can't wait to recreate it! I have been really trying to get a few odds and ends from the Dollar Tree because I need to decorate my entire home. I have been out of my home 2 years August 16th since the flood in Louisiana. I am so excited that there are so many great ideas to decorate that are affordable. Thank you again!❤️❤️❤️❤️
Girrrl.. You had my exact thoughts. I saw that episode of Mr. Kate too and was trying to figure out how to Dollar Tree DIY it 😂😂 Thank you for this inspiration. Ima try to do it a little differently

So did you just tie it to the bottom of the top shelf? I guess I'm still confused on how you got it to look so great!
