Blegh. Barbie was so bad man.
@@residentevilclone Chris is sucking up to Hollywood so they'll give his "film" good reviews
I'm disappointed at this list, top 5 is good, others are just nothing great. Barbie lol, its crap movie
I missed Chris making the worst movies videos of the year
And Hilariocity reviews
@@joshallen8397 I'm a human. I like to insult other humans
To be honest, I think it's kinda refreshing. There's too much cynical negativity around RUclips, so I really appreciate Chris for doing something different, even though people prefer angry, vitriolic reviews.
Me too. This channel used to be a lot more fun back then. I miss the hilarioucity reviews
Ant Man 3 would’ve been on the list.
Holy shit that advertisement went on forever
I love the Slam Dunk manga. I drove over 2 hours round trip to see First Slam Dunk in a theater. Everyone in the theater besides me was Japanese and they had all clearly grown up with Slam Dunk and were on another level of excitement and energy. It was one of the single best moviegoing experiences I’ve ever had.
How the author managed to create vagabond slam dunk and real is incredible Inoue is a living legend
It’s a 2022 movie
@@Sleepys._. Inoue and Urusawa are the goats
My friend took me to see Slam Dunk in theatres, and knowing almost nothing about the source material.... the movie is actually incredible. Gorgeous animation, emotional depth, character development, insane hype, and the movie does an amazing job of accommodating newcomers that didnt watch the 90s anime or read the manga.
Do you know if it can be streamed?
@@Wats06071 It cannot, yet. Probably next year, not long after 2/28 when the BR drops
there is no HD until now 1 year since release japan distribution in digital release and blu ray sucks
You really REALLY Need to Watch the anime series. Free on funimation youtube chanel
I have the original manga. If the movie is able to bring out all those emotions, it is automatically a masterpiece.
The fact that Godzilla Minus One can be said in the same breath as Oppenheimer for some of the best films of 2023 just makes me so happy.
Oppenheimer was a dud 😅. I'll never get the cringed nude scene out of mind 🤮
@@aaadesktopnot that serious.
@@aaadesktop I admit the nude scenes were easily the worst parts of the movie. I also respect your opinion, and using a bomb pun on top of that was pretty good too.
@@aaadesktopidk if the scene made you feel uncomfortable, cringe, and had a lasting impact, then the scene achieved its purpose.
@@aaadesktoponly cringe is your comment
Chris, here is a bit of positive criticism. Please stop with the same music sting for every movie on the title card. Hearing it 15 times in a 14 minute video is a bit much. Probably save the sting for the top three only. Also, it's okay to put some emotion into your voice. It sounds like your bored out of your mind. This is your list of your favorite movies of the year. you would think you would be excited to let people know it. Also mention that you have more in depth reviews of these movies and that this is going to be a quick synopsis of said film, maybe have links to those reviews in the bar at the top or in the description.

Glad that he loves Are You There God It's Me Margaret, one of this year's underrated movie
Thank You!!!
Im not sure if its just me or not, but I don't even really feel like he said all that much about his favorite films of the year. It's like he just speed ran through them and just called it a night. I'm sure he's probably going through a lot but I don't know, I'd enjoy to hear what made these films your favorite and why they were the best for you. I understand it can be difficult to put into words why you love something but come on man, you've been doing this for like 14 years now, I would think you'd get better at conveying you're feelings on a movie instead of just saying one line about it or this will get an Oscar and moving on. I don't know, its just frustrating but, what do you guys think?
Great list. I always appreciate you picking a few surprises.
Better add Past Lives to your watch list Chris. It was by far my favorite A24 movie of the year, and they released a ton of good ones this year.
No Past Lives on this list was shocking
@@gevannolan1987 he can only rank the movies that he has actually watched
Talk To Me my favorite A24 movie of 2023 and one of my best horror movie of the year too.
Past lives was very good. But idk about top 10, maybe close.
Yeah it was my personal favorite this year!
Godzilla Minus One is to 2023 what Top Gun Maverick was to 2022. What an unexpected masterpiece.
It’s good, but not a masterpiece. That word doesn’t need to lose more meaning than it already has.
It was good; but basically it was a combination of a Japanese drama + original Godzilla + Godzilla:Mothra:King Ghidorah - All Out Monsters Attack, rolled into one (minus other kaiju, as in GMK). But I did enjoy it, though I wouldn't call it a masterpiece, but a very good Godzilla film.
I thought it was good, but wished I'd sat about 6 rows further forward for it.
Ill be the guy who agrees with you on calling it a masterpiece. Not only for how much of a great movie it is, but also for taking a Godzilla sized shit on Hollywood.
Not gunna lie, I thought it was really boring.
The Iron Claw is an amazing movie and family film. If y’all haven’t seen it, I highly recommend you do! 👍
Thank you! I was hoping to see a comment mentioning it!
Please, for the love of god, elaborate. I swear the goddamn title cards for each number lasted longer than what you actually said about each movie.
This is supposed to be a small recommendation. Not a review. Go watch em.
I’m happy to see The Artifice Girl get a mention. We need more of these idea driven low budget/ high quality movies.
Agree. Saw it at the Florida Film Festival before its release, heard from the director at the Q and A. Nice little film, fascinating vision.
I thought it was really good movie.
If only the third act was as good as the previous two, it could have been very good!
But, I wholeheartdly agree, we need more of this.
3rd act was cringe
Online it says its 2022…why is it on 2023 list?
@@laurenbendik2006 It debuted at the Montreal Fantasia Fest in July 2022, and showed up at a few others subsequently, but was released on VOD and select theaters on May 1, 2023. It's streaming for free in some areas on TUBI.
I'm glad you gave some anime movies an honorable mention. Because we know the Academy for some reason can't see their brilliance when they really should.
Agree
Chris grew up on movies
Honestly shocked me so much when the Golden Globes nominated Suzume.
The only anime the Academy Awards knows about is Ghibli
Suzume and The Boy and the Heron are probably the only films that would get notice from the academy and even then they’d be passed over by some Disney schlock because the academy is nothing but old fucks that barely, if at all, respect animation.
Go touch grass, kid. I like anime too but you need to realize there are other good things.
I saw the first slam dunk, first because i knew the anime, but second because of you Chris, and i thanks to u that i got the chances to see it in the theatres. An amazing movie.
So glad to see The First Slam Dunk top your list. I saw it three times here in Japan and it's one of the most impactful movie-going experience of my life, and easily my movie of the year as well (well, technically it came out at the tail end of 2022 here, but anyway). I really hope world to mouth means this movie has long legs and becomes a cult classic, because it clearly deserves it.
The First Slam Dunk was absolutely fantastic!!! 💪🔥🏀 Also, another surprise was Godzilla Minus One. What an epic and what a drama!!! These movies make the ridiculous 200M+ budget movies look lazy. The scripts for these two movies were so well constructed with deeply emotional character development and arc while maintaining action and suspense. What a year!!!
Where can this movie be watched? I can't find it streaming anywhere.
@@colinbartlett8255 Blu-Ray will be released in Japan on Feb 28, 2024. I assume it will be released in the US and other countries following that release otherwise pirated versions will be spreading like wildfire.
The Ranking I wait for at the end of every year. Have a Happy New Year, Chris!
The Efap on this was HILARIOUS
The First Slam Dunk was an amazing movie and i don´t know too much about the source material, but since i played basketball it evoked such a special thing to me as well ;) good list
I went to the theatre to see The First Slam Dunk thanks to your video, to one of the really really few screenings in Costa Rica, and I'm so glad I did. Thanks for recommending it, it was such a fantastic experience!
convinced 3 of my friends to read slam dunk and watch it with me, truly a special movie for all of us. thank you for putting out a great word for it!
Thanks so much Chris. Happy New Year to you and your family. 🎉🎉🎉
Thanks Chris! Can’t wait for YOUR film release this year 👍
The Boy and the Heron is incredible. Miyazaki's world and visual aesthetic he created in it is like a dream you never want to end. However, it's great to see First Slam Dunk getting the recognition it deserves. Even if you're not necessarily an anime fan, but just a fan of animation and good movies you should definitely see it. With that, the Boy and the Heron, and Suzume, this year has been a great year for Anime movies.
Cartoons are not movies.
I was quite disappointed by The Boy and the Heron tbh. It was my first Ghibli film so I went in with high expectations, but it felt so random to me. The entire time I felt like there was some deeper meaning but I couldn't find it; and the main character wasn't very likeable.

Wild Chris, I really do enjoy these 20 seconds of explaining the most minimal information of a film
With atrocious title card music that plays over and over and over

So glad to see Suzume get some attention. I’m glad anime movies are becoming more and more popular (not that they weren’t in the first place).
I kind of wish it was a bit higher on this list, but I'm glad its here anwyays
@@justsomegirlwithoutamustacheIt wasn't that good as their past movies.
For myself, the best project of 2023 was Canvas, although the animated short was released in 2020. Frank Abney created a tale that does not need the conventional device of verbal communication; it was rather a look at what we keep bottled up while also growing as individuals.
Good best of, several movies I still need to see. Love the fact you stayed yourself all those years, even with the increase of popularity. I enjoy your reviews. Hope one day you'll consider a release of a "Film buff's bucket list" book for the 80'/90's?
I don't know if it is shown in cinemas in US but I highly recommend "Mars Express". It was such a nice surprise this year !!... really a great SF/cyberpunk anime. Good scenario, great production... one of the very best movies i seen this year.
Thx for your top ! :)
Omg I was wondering where Slam Dunk was on your list and damn you put it at number one just like me 🤯 it's an absolutely stunning movie and it deserves absolutely everyone's attention. So glad I got to see it in IMAX.
Calm down
Congratulations on 14 years Chris! Heres to 14 more. You've given me a lot of homework to watch. Thank you for all that you do!
I like Chris because I feel like he leans out of that standard review lane. The movies that everyone is obviously going to talk about and finds gems others might have overlooked.
the kinda homework l like😊
14 years of empty vapid nothingness, for a man who "loves" movies he really works hard to hide any and all supposed passion
So glad to hear about your movie, looking forward to see it, have a great year (i watch your videos from 10 plus years now)
I'm surprised Chris didn't say "Every movie is the best this year"
Is he even capable of having a negative opinion anymore?
No, he isn't. @@desertsuede4
@@desertsuede4yes but he’s said that he won’t do negative reviews or review movies he didn’t like anymore. He wants to be a film maker so he won’t be negative about his colleagues
@@desertsuede4 Chris has sold out and refuses to give negative reviews or criticism to genuinely bad movies and now only reviews stuff he likes. That's the reason why he didn't review The Marvels or Aquaman 2 XD. That's why other movie reviewers on youtube like Sean Chandler and Jeremy Jahns are better people to watch for movie reviews because they give their honest opinions and aren't afraid to talk about bad movies and give honest and valid criticisms. Chris used to talk about the best and worst movies from a a certain year, but hasn't done that since 2017 because he's too afraid of possibly offending someone. It's very sad and pathetic to watch.
@@tonyilias2561how the fuck is that pathetic? And how has he sold out lmao. He still criticizes elements of films even if he likes them overall. Why would he sit around trashing an obviously bad movie when he’s trying to work in the film industry? Directors don’t sit around bashing each other’s art.
Saw Oppenheimer, Spiderverse, and Holdovers at the theater. Loved them all. Seeing G-1 tonight. Was surprised that there was only one theater showing it (with only one screening a day) already, and it was that way last weekend as well (only three weeks after it was realeased!).
Edit - Adding Dunk to the watch list.
How did you like G-1?
no joke, i have trouble finding a theater in StL showing G-1 (that's not sold out)
@@babycho9 Just got back. It was very good! The story really focused on the human characters. Really well done, and for less than a tenth of the cost of a US blockbuster.
@@cyrollan We went to Ronnie’s, but we bought our tickets two days ago. And yes, the theater was full.
Great list Chris, I’ll definitely see The First Slam Dunk now! I’m also working on my own Top 20 Movies List on my own channel that will be up in a couple of days.
EFAP's stream covering this video is far more entertaining than actually watching this video 😂 "stuckmanized"
lol based
Then why do you click on it and watch it ?
Since you loved Slam Dunk so much I hope you read the manga Chris from the beginning! The movie was placed like pretty much towards the end of the story haha!
This year has been one of the peak in terms of anime shows and movies. So much amazing content. I am glad you cover them, I was surprised when they showed up so high on your list. The positions do make sense to me, you really are great at your year end summaries.
Happy to see Suzume getting shout out. Liked it a lot
Thanks for another year of content, looking forward to watching Shelby oaks next year!!
Great list. I am shocked tho to see The Creator not getting mentioned on anyone's list. I think it's a Sci Fi Masterpiece. I am very happy that you gave Beau is Afraid a shout out tho. A lot of people won't have it on or near their lists but the film really resonated with me. My favorite film of the decade so far
The Creator is probably the biggest disappointment of 2023, that's why.
The Killer was my personal favourite. Happy new year Chris!
I saw Slam Dunk in theaters along with maybe 3 or 4 other strangers in that screening. Loved it from beginning to end. All 4 of us even cheered out loud at points in the movie.
At this point Chris is as interesting as a glass of water.
omg your number 1 pick is the same as mine!!! ive been a fan of the manga and anime ever since i was a kid. so this movie was really important to me. im so happy the mangaka/director decided to tell the story in the way he did because ryota’s character wasnt explored in much detail in the manga so this was new even for lifelong fans! so happy you enjoyed it ❤
WOW, welp, you’ve done just what you set out to do, until this video, I’ve never heard of “The First Slam Dunk..” now I have to check it out, so thank you Chris..😊 also big congratulations on your movie. I can’t wait to watch it when it releases next year.👏🏻
wow, I didn't even know a Godzilla movie came out this year... but THAT high? I HAVE to see this.
Hurry as it is starting to leave theaters. It’s a MUST SEE in theaters. It really is the best film of the year for me.
Takehiko Inoue is my favorite mangaka. Glad to see MFSD at #1. Hopefully people watching this go and check it out. I feel Inoue senpai is one of the best at conveying human emotions through his art with it’s hyper realism. His paneling is amazing like in Vagabond which I hope one day he returns to finishing. A Vagabond film would be insane.
Im so happy that godzilla minus one is getting talked about despite its low budget and the next to no marketing it was given. It is a great film and has revitalized the godzilla fandom
Haven't seen The Iron Claw yet which am sure it's gonna end up in my list, so my best of 2023 movies r.. 1,Killers of the flower moon

3,Mission impossible dead reckoning 1
4,A Haunting in venice
5,Leave z world behind
6,Across spider verse
7,Talk To Me
8,The Hunger Games :ballad of song birds...... (😅so long)
9,John Wick 4
10,The Covenant, these r my picks
It's great to see that even people who knew nothing about the source material and anime loved SLAM DUNK. As a long time fan of the anime, this movie was even better than I expected.
I hope the author's other works get adapted (VAGABOND and REAL) and he should direct it too just like SLAM DUNK.
I'm surprised how well received this Slam Dunk movie is, reading theough these comments. I though it was DOA when I saw the trailer, with it being CGI only (and it looked quite bad imo).
I saw nobody talking about it and I skipped the movie completely; so this is all pretty baffling to me. I'm impressed and glad it turned out well.
@@m1bl4n I think the reaction to the animation was pretty positive because of the transition from the anime's 2D to the movie's 2D/3D animation.
As for the anime fans, we're used to the 2D animation basketball movements which are very limited. And seeing the 3D animated movements (I think MoCap even) in the trailer, with Miyagi and his brother, the actual Sannoh match, just made everyone more excited because we're finally watching a SLAM DUNK match with a smoother and more fluid animation.
And just excited in general because we're getting a continuation on the story that the anime didn't get to end in the first place. (The anime only covered Vol 1-22 of the manga, the movie covered what's left, for the most part)
Anyone else think the Iron Claw was one of the best of the year? It was my #1 followed by Oppenheimer, Past Lives, and The Holdovers. Iron Claw was beautiful and devastating. I wish more people were talking about it.
I totally agree. I knew nothing about the von erichs and I had such a good time watching it. It was so gut wrenching and emotional which I didn't expect at all
@@dmitrihoule7866 Exactly! I knew the full story going in, yet watching it made it feel so real. After the credits started to roll, I just sat there stunned for a few minutes.
So real. My #2. Saddest film I’ve ever seen
Can't believe Chris didn't even mention Past Lives.
Since I got AMC A-List, I watched a considerable amount of films this year and forgot just how many amazing movies we got despite most of the big-budget ones being a disappointment, as Chris said. But some of my favorites were by far Oppenheimer, Poor Things, Killers of the Flower Moon and Across the Spiderverse, while some others I largely enjoyed but weren’t included in this list or even the HMs were Past Lives, Talk to Me, Asteroid City and Nimona.
Thanks for supporting The First Slam Dunk. I went to see it based on your video review and I agree. The movie is amazing! 🏀
The First Slam Dunk, Inoue Takehiko really is a genius storyteller. Check out the manga guys.
Also please read Vagabond.
read REAL too !
First, micowavable meals cannot/will not ever be healthy.
Second, wow, how the mighty have fallen. Chris shows us his favourite films of 2023 but tells us nothing about any of them (how good the film making was/how they made him feel).
At least Jeremy Jahns actually makes time for each of his top ten films and gives us insight into why he chose them.
And 'white knuckle' is one of the most generic terms you could use to describe something.
Past lives was definitely the best I've seen this year. Hopefully it gets more love after the awards
I love seeing Godzilla Minus One getting the love it deserves
Couldn't agree more, seen it twice and it deserves all the love it continues to get
Thank you! Good number of movies I’m looking forward to watching. Best to you in 2024!
Great list. I haven’t heard about the Slam Dunk. Excited to check it out
Not sure if you watched it, but I just recently saw Anatomy of a Fall which came out a few months back and didnt get much attention, yet it is nominated for a Golden Globe. @@colli_wolly I feel so justified seeing it win two oscars!
The First Slam Dunk it's not underated, it's just that they are taking ages to release it in DVD / Streaming. It aired in Dec 2022 in Japan, around August in other parts of the world, but the Japan DVD release is set to 28th February 2024! I was lucky to see it in the cinema in August but I have been waiting ages to see it again! It Netflix buys it, even Crunchyroll, it's going to be huge!
I know !! I've been meaning to rewatch it ever since I saw it in theaters this summer as well, i was annoyed finding out that it wasn't until almost Spring 2024 to rewatch it again.
We didn't expect to like it (cause we don't generally like full CGI Japanese animation) and we aren't even into basketball. But damn were we on the edge of our seat the whole time! They just kept amping up the pressure and intensity of it during the whole movie.
GKIDS has the North American Theatrical Distribution rights to The First Slam Dunk and will likely release it on home video. It could end up on Max or Hulu, the latter getting more of GKIDS’ more recent non Ghibli releases.
Got to see the film subbed at Anime Expo this July and its English dub (produced by NYAV Post) later during its limited theatrical run. It’s a great film and doesn’t require prior viewing of the original anime.
It was February for the rest of Asia. I'm so glad I didn't miss it.
I used to be a big fan but watching your newer videos is like watching a corporate training video
Would of help if the movies were listed in the info.
Thank you for reminding me how good The First Slam Dunk was. Totally agree with you
Thanks for bringing Slam Dunk into your top pick. I've been a Slam Dunk fan since 90's and this makes me cry with tears of joy that you are promoting everyone to watch it. It's really a great anime film that people should see. I mean if you are reading this, go watch it now!
Thanks Chris. Humble suggestion for vids like this - say the name of the movie you are talking about for the visually impaired.
Hey Chris, good luck with your debut film.. can't wait...Godbless!!
I see myself as a movie-lover. And the past year I felt so disappointed and broken by new movies. Watching your list, I realized I saw maybe 5 of them! -- I appreciate all you do and was immediately reflecting on finding the important gems that you have listed -- THANKS!
Slam Dunk lets gooooooo!!! Man, it's My favorite manga🤩 i waited so much to see that Game animated, and it was worth it. I'm SO glad you liked it as much as i did🔥 congrats on another year man, Best of luck on the One incoming!!
EFAP brought me here. And Im not dissapointed. 🤣
They’re right that Chris is milktoaste but EFAP is more insufferable, so called film buffs when only 1/9 of them know what the movie Caché is and all hate John Wick Chapter 4
Thank you so much for your content, sir. You're my go to reference when a movie comes out. And i'm not sure if I want to see it
Love your choice for #1. I missed it; now will definitely watch it.
Really hope Poor Things, First Slam Dunk and Zone of Interest hit theaters soon in my country; but for me the best movie I saw this years is hands down Oppenheimer.
I’ve watched a lot of best of lists but Artifice Girl was a total left film suggestion. So I just watched it on Amazon… wow! A great recommendation and a great piece of independant art! It’s up there as one of my favourites this year!
You recommended Ghost in the Shell ('96) years ago and I trusted your word from then on. Will probably watch some of thee anime you recommended here ❤
I am happy to hear Suzume get a shoutout. Sure the movie was released early this year. But Suzume is so amazing and creative.
Also loved Oppenheimer, Godzilla Minus One, John Wick 4, Across The Spider Verse, Killers of the Flower Moon, Sisu and The Boy And The Heron.
Oppenheimer I loved the first watch but the second watch I was just blown out of the park realizing how amazingly written the movie was and how it displayed its story. Spiderverse was the greatest comic book movie I've ever experienced and never thought 2 and a half hours can be so exhilarating to watch. And John wick 4 blew me away with every action set piece. The stunt work and choreography were insane. True dedication in those films radiated through the screen.
Watch Jigarthanda Double X and thank me later 😊 4th highest rated action movie on Letterboxd in 2023 (just below John Wick 4 which is ranked number 3), it's a gangster drama with dark comedy, political themes, and is constructed an an ode to cinema through its theme, meta plot and movie references. (Loosely connected prequel to Jigarthanda, 2014, great too but not on the same scale)
Great top! Find for yourself movies which never heard. Thank, man your awesome!❤
So, what are any of these films about? You gave almost as much time to the title cards as you spent talking about the movies. You also spoke in a monotone voice for almost the entire video. Do you care about youtube anymore? Or is it just a way to get into the "superior" (failing) film industry?
It's like he either doesn't realize the film industry is on the verge of implosion or he doesn't care. Either way, he's setting himself up for failure.
I love recommending movies and wish I had this guy's following because I feel I could do better but also I don't have the will/energy to start a youtube channel lol so just take these 2023 suggestions if you want:
*Jigarthanda Double X*
Gangster action drama with some humour, environmental & political themes, inspired by spaghetti westerns and overall constructed as an ode to cinema.
Prequel to Jigarthanda (2014), a gangster dark comedy, also great but on a smaller scale.
I'd recommend both but there is no need to see the 2014 one before the 2023 one as it's only loosely connected through a reference at the very end of DoubleX, and through the central plot of "lead character makes a biopic on a real life gangster". Very meta plot, just incredibly enjoyable for any cinephile.
*Sapta Sagaradaache Ello - Side A* & *Side B* a beautifully crafted, hard hitting 2 part romantic/action drama about a young couple full of dreams, trying to make ends meet, and about how, after a bad decision leads the man to prison, the couple tries to survive separation.
The First Slam Dunk was amazing!
So Happy First Slam Dunk got some love on this list, it’s truly fantastic
You almost had an opinion a couple times there Chris...
So nice Chris let chatgbt write the script for this video
I swear Ive learned more about some of these movies from the comments than I have this video.
As an Slam Dunk megafan for decades, I can't explain how I feel when you rank the movie first. I have to say, the manga is even better, to me, it's the best manga ever made and it even was voted as that by Japan manga readers at the time.
If you enjoy manga, I think you should give it a try, you will enjoy it even more than the movie.
Also been following you for years!
Greetings from Argentina, wish you the best!
I always prefer anime movie to manga
@@YorgosL1 I agree, I'm not a big manga reader, but Takehiko Inoue's drawings are next level, and the movie is missing a lot of important things from the manga.
@@Jhein you know the movie was directed by Takehiko himself right? As a manga fan I love this movie so much. He was so smart for choosing Ryota as the main character for this movie. So that old manga fans can feel something new with the story. And also it's impossible to include everything from the manga in one single movie.
@@dvonce11 I knew all of this, of course. And I know it's not possible to cover everything, but thats why I'm suggesting to read the manga, it includes everything, the Uozumi moment, Hanamichi confessing to Haruko, Hanamichi struggling with Mikio, so much stuff that make this game the best ever written.
Some very surprising omissions.
Mine top 7 are:
20 Days in Mariupol (Mstyslav Chernov)
The Eight mountains (Charlotte Vandermeersch and Felix van Groeningen)
Anatomy of a fall (Justine Triet)
Past Lives (Celine Song)
Oppenheimer (Christopher Nolan)
Killers of the flower moon (Martin Scorsese)
Godland (Hlynur Pálmason)
(with Zone of interest and All of us strangers not yet released in the UK)
I don’t even know it’d it’s been released in the US but one of my favourites was The Great Escaper, reduced both me and my partner to tears (he’s not one for crying, and not even for “stiff upper lip manly” reasons). Also watched Past Lives yesterday, got the last ticket for a special screening, such a beautiful story.
Could you give a breakdown of the festival submission process? Love the list this year, so many hidden germs
The First Slam Dunk as your top movie of the year - Chris, you have great taste
Really thought that “The Boy and the Heron” would be on this list because of the stellar review it was given. I didn’t expect most of these, especially not the #1… was a review shared for that film?
Yes Chris had a review for The First Slam Dunk. Just run a search on his channel and you'll definitely find it. Great review.
Gonna be hilarious when he does this list next year and puts Shelby Oakes number 1
Lmfao each movie gets less than a minute and just about a sentence proclaiming that they are indeed movies that were made.
Love the list Chris! Always loving the shout outs to the films that didn't get enough exposure. Have you watched Iron Claw? That movie really hit some hard emotional beats for me and it was the only omission to the list I thought was relatively significant. Keep it up!
