By far, overall, my favorite gaming experience of 2022. There is nothing like finally getting the Sunwing for the first time. Eyes literally watering with awe. And riding it from one end of the map to the other, watching the sun set and rise, bookending your journey through the night skies. Actually what's more fun is jumping from the highest peak, sailing through the air down towards the valley below, then calling the Sunwing to scoop you up mid flight, climbing to glorious heights into the sky, and when you get near a beach, seaguls fly towards you and follow you around as if you're part of the same flock! My jaw dropped at least once during every play session.
The scaleable but limited cliffs are still way better than not having scaleable cliffs at all from the old game. Since most other games implement climbing stamina in exchange for having freely scaleable cliffs or any type. I'd say this one is a worthy trade off.
butthey arent actually limited , in real life not everything is climbable is see it more as the scouter is pointing out where you can hold and those are the yellow markers , a matter of immersion
Not only that. Free climbing wouldn't work with Horizon bc it has some puzzle-ish climbing to get to certain places or for Banuk figures in HZD so I'm assuming it'll have some of that too in the new game. Having free climbing would eliminate that.
As someone who LOVES the horizon games. Forbidden West gave me nearly everything I wanted and was hoping for. I have almost 200 hours invested, multiple playthroughs and am now going again after playing the Zero Dawn remaster. The graphics still leave me breathless. I still remember how stoked I was when I first discovered we would get to fly on the sunwing. Then New Game + allowed us to fly early. Burning Shores is amazing. It's almost hard to believe we are 2 years later.
Being able to freehand climb up sheer vertical surfaces with nothing to grab onto is always dumb-looking, and stamina for climbing is annoying, so Forbidden West avoiding both of those things means it has the best implementation for me. I'd much rather developers try to put in more natural looking handholds.

Looks like it's the same. The trick in HZD was to use up the immediate crafting resources from your crafting inventory, and not use the loot boxes with resources you'd get from the fallen dinobots. You could look inside them to see what you'd get but still have a big reserve of those without breaking them down and sending them to your crafting inventory.

You missed the part where you get to fly around on the machines. That is the game changer. Exploring the huge map from the sky is a totally different experience in this game.
Absolutely well written and gripping review! It actually built momentum as it got towards the “Final Verdict”. Brilliantly done. I’m super-hyped for this game!
Yeah I'm betting botw 2023 considering we still haven't had any updates or teasers. But the years still stacked Elden ring, hfw and sunbreak is more than enough for me.
Zero mention to controls, dual sense features and sound. How can you review a game and leave out such important and structural parts is beyond me. Also no mention to the performance and PS4 versions.
I’m glad there is a lot of content here as well. Finishing up Zero Dawn for a rare third playthrough in prep for the sequel this week. Forbidden West is a big boy as well at nearly 100g and I’m really looking forward to diving into this one. Between this, Dying Light 2, and Elden Ring, this has been one of the best months in gaming in some time. With all the delays last year, we’re going to get a packed year for gaming in general.
"Action too fast" what does that mean? Interaction? It better be fast, my biggest problem with rdr 2 is the interaction animation is too slow... In an open world...
It’s nice to see a female character taking the leading role unique only to her. Instead of them just replacing an old male character we all know with a girl and trying to convince us she’s better

Just downloading now, a 47 year old that only came back to gaming after a 20+ year break because of zero dawn, the story of primitive man, rising up out of the ashes of AI catastrophe. What is not to love.
Ps and have the next 4 days off 😆
niceee🤣
You came back to gaming after 20 years for this game? You really could not find better game or did you even try?

Probably one of the best ign reviews I've witnessed ! Congrats to you !
@@tetermc please don’t be that guy😅
@@tetermc Hahahaha, very poignant!
How can it be a great review when you haven't even played the game yet? You don't know if what he said is true. Dumbass
It isn’t saying much lol but it’s still a great review
Actually a IGN review with mechanics and points broken down elaborately and then the score actually relating to the review, not to mention the passion from this guy! Revolutionary! More from this guy pls
Game looks really gorgeous, a shame that it's so hard to get a hold of a PS5 😔
You can get it on PS4 and upgrade it to PS5 for free once you have one.
@@mathsarslain Yeah ima be waiting to see how the performance is on ps4

He didn't talk about the inventory management ? Did they improve that from zero dawn ? That was always a problem for me.
From other reviews, it was improved but not as much as needed…
Looks like it's the same. The trick in HZD was to use up the immediate crafting resources from your crafting inventory, and not use the loot boxes with resources you'd get from the fallen dinobots. You could look inside them to see what you'd get but still have a big reserve of those without breaking them down and sending them to your crafting inventory.
Even though Elden Ring is definitely GOTY, this is also one of the best games I've ever played. Both games are so we'll designed that it gives me so much imagination
This man needs a raise! Such a wonderful, detailed and engaging review!
IGN giving a game everyone loves a rating lower than a 9: “who cares what IGN thinks”
IGN giving everyone the rating they expected: “what a great review, give this man a raise”
32 hours!? LOL
This game took me 86 hours to complete, and there were still several side missions leftover.
This sounds like you did the absolute minimum side missions to meet the level recommendations.
10:53 is the pig in the back okay ?
WOW! This is one of the best reviews I’ve seen from IGN! The depth and passion is amazing to see…well done Simon🙌
You missed the part where you get to fly around on the machines. That is the game changer. Exploring the huge map from the sky is a totally different experience in this game.
Yea
Too bad it comes at nearly the end of the main story
Even more hyped for the game now!

Yup
Yes 👌🏻
Yeh...
Yes, just completed Zero Dawn on pc 😂
Bro just buy a ps5 if you want to play it
Outstanding,Horizon:Zero Dawn was one of my favourite games of all time and especially of the PS4 Pro generation.
My main issue with the first game was the lackluster sidequests and empty feeling open world, but seems like all of those things have been addressed.
same here, and the combat to in the first one was very boring like a soul games
@@Pl4sm0 Souls games have the most satisfying combat in the market wtf are you talking about??
@@AFT_05G sure, dodge, hit, dodge dodge, hit, dodge, hit, dodge dodge......yeha very deep combat.
At least in Demon's Soul u could use a bow ^^
In my opinion, this game had the best open world I've played in a while. It was beautiful!
This game is so much fun and absolutely stunning to look at.
The conversation animation is the most visible improvement. They don't look like robots anymore but feel like actually people talking to each other.
This is so mind blowing and no I’m not talking about the graphics and environment, and yes! I’m talking about the plot! The twist!
Cardy is one the igns best reviewers.
We have a GOTY contender! We still have GOW: Ragnarok, Elden Ring, and a new BOTW game. This year is stacked and competition will be intense.
I'm really not convinced that that GOW and BOTW sequel are coming this year though
@@johnbishop2536 gow is coming since Sony confirmed that. Not sure about botw. Anyhow GOTY is certainly going to be elden ring given the previews
@@rahulraveendran4543 Waiting to see a review but until now we see two back to back GOTY contenders…
Yeah I'm betting botw 2023 considering we still haven't had any updates or teasers. But the years still stacked Elden ring, hfw and sunbreak is more than enough for me.
This game deserves a solid 10.
nope elden ring deserves that :D

Zero mention to controls, dual sense features and sound. How can you review a game and leave out such important and structural parts is beyond me. Also no mention to the performance and PS4 versions.
it's understated how much variation and detail in fashion and npc clothing there is and how much in helps deepen their world building
"F**k me have you seen the look of this" 😂. 10/10 review this guy is gold.
review was so professional that it caught me off guard XD
Cant wait to play this on PC in 4 years
I’m glad there is a lot of content here as well.
Oof
Gamespot: Too many weapon options action is too fast 8/10 IGN: love the weapon and element options and fast paced combat 9/10
Dude gamespot has been so bad recently in reviews. Look at tales of arise review, you will actually laugh…
@@gamerforlife3946 Yeah its sad because the action was too tough for him he marked it down, too many weapon options?? Really?
"Action too fast" what does that mean? Interaction? It better be fast, my biggest problem with rdr 2 is the interaction animation is too slow... In an open world...
Feel like this game should have gotten 10/10.
It'll be a 10 for me!
It's because different people have different opinion for me it's looking 9.2 but I'll judge when 8 get hands on it
What system y’all playing on? PS4, PS4 Pro or PS5?

They basically fused RDR2 and Zero Dawn into a masterpiece.
That is such a great description. This game is going to be incredible. The wait is killing me...
How is it a masterpiece? Same boring dull characters, Aloy has no personality, story was lame in HZD.

some Ghost of Tsushima in there too
It’s nice to see a female character taking the leading role unique only to her. Instead of them just replacing an old male character we all know with a girl and trying to convince us she’s better
wanna see a movie based on this game
wow, comparing side quests to Witcher 3, i don't hear that often. that's quite an achievement.
Honestly theres allot more games now that have quests up there with Witcher 3. Kingdom come had some ones that were even better.
Another masterpiece by PlayStation studio. 🥳🥳🥳
The game is awesome. It's like a huge step up, across the board, from the last game.
