I'm having a lot of fun with this game. You can tell they really put a lot of work into the facial animations, in Zero Dawn the faces seem stilted and rough but I'm Forbidden West I am blown away with the expressive realism the faces have.

It’s worth mentioning that the game menu has a Notebook section with character bios that become available when they become relevant. Each bio does a great job of explaining the history of Zero Dawn to help you understand exactly what has happened up to this point. It was great for me as a refresher. By the time you get to Meridian the first time there’s enough unlocked to get a good idea of what happened.

Where in the first game you purchased like ALL your armor and weapons through merchants, this time there are a decent amount u get through quest lines. Or, by stumbling across a group of people that need help, they might gift you smoke bombs (new ability) for your help. The detail is also more dense, and their are more cool worldly things to discover - like a tiny random cave, and such. ALSO, there are these cool puzzles where you have to figure out how to get into a building, etc. I haven’t gotten super far but I can tell there is a lot to offer.

I love what they've been doing with Horizon Forbidden West. Considering this is only the second open world that Guerrilla has made, yet despite this it is up there with one of the best ones made, I can't imagine what 3 is going to be like for the Horizon trilogy (or more, if they decide to continue Aloy's story). It's like the devs took what they learned in Zero Dawn and their only notes were: "more gameplay, better graphics, more stuff". I can't believe how little I've progressed the story in over 10 hours of gameplay just because I'm so busy exploring the portion of the map I've opened up. It won't be for everybody, but I think It's worth everybody's time to at least try Horizon out, especially if you have at least demoed Zero Dawn.

Brom that game made by Filipino developer. In the Horizon Forbidden West credits, it was revealed that Filipino game studio, Pixel Mafia, helped create Sony’s latest PlayStation exclusive. Pixel Mafia is one of the many support studios that developer Guerilla has tapped to create this massive new open world game.
Here’s a list of all the Pixel Mafia developers who helped bring Horizon Forbidden West to life (from the game’s credits): there's many Filipino name developers in photo but you can't post RUclips because in images. But You can search thier name in website pixel Mafia
In case you’re unfamiliar, Pixel Mafia is a Philippine-based art development studio that is known for creating art assets for triple-A titles. The studio has worked on a wide range of games, including Halo Infinite, Diablo 2: Resurrected, Cyberpunk 2077, and more.
While Pixel Mafia has not yet revealed what exactly they worked on in Horizon Forbidden West, we can surmise that the Filipino studio helped create art assets (possibly for weapons and environmental objects). This is based on their previous works for other triple-A games. For instance, the studio worked on various graphic design elements for Cyberpunk 2077.

The system for character upgrades improved dramatically, the story evolved into something that allowed the game to be massive and still make perfect sense. Companions are pretty cool. For me, the first game's story execution was poor. The story and lore itself is interesting, but the way they present it was boring. Way too much exposition dump by NPCs instead of you experiencing or discovering that exposition.
In FHW, you as Aloy participate more in the story. One best example for me is the Las Vegas main quest. The awe of that area, and understanding why and how it came to be, and that mission's ending. What a spectacle. You even care about those 3 NPCs you meet for the quest. In HZD, I couldn't care less about any NPC (except Rost and Sylens) and any of the different tribes.

I played Zero Dawn 3 or 4 times on New Game+ , the last time just before purchasing Forbidden West, so it was hard for me going back no weapons or skills at the start of Forbidden West. It's good this also has a New Game + Option. I'm a pretty crappy player (according to my adult gamer sons, but they are probably right) I always have to play on the easiest setting, which in Forbidden West still provides a decent enough challenge in combat. I finished the main quest at level 30, and am very happy going round exploring the world and doing side quests, finding all the collectibles, (the newly added ones are great) and completing tall necks and caldrons. I like the ruins quests, those puzzles in them are fun.

9:55 this is exactly what's happening to me with GoW 2018. I'm almost clocking in as many hours in photo mode as I am playing it. Your reviews are great because they touch on the exact feelings some of us gamers with a lot of games under the belt have about open-world games and repetitiveness in general, so it's way more relatable and worthy than a generic review. Great stuff, and the game sounds great too!

Great vid. Probably the first before you buy where I actually bought and played the game before it, but still enjoy watching regardless. Been playing on PS4 and the game is still among the most gorgeous games I’ve seen. Certainly on Console at least. Loving just about everything and besides the occasional pop in, pretty bug free for me. Huge amount of new stuff on top of QOL improvements. Not sure I’ve found anything thus far that I didn’t like at least as much, if not more so, than the original. Here’s hoping the rest of the game continues being as fun as the first 10 hours have been.

I absolutely loved the first game, put around 120 hours into it, and the best aspects were definitely the story and gameplay. The world was also perfect size too - not too big or small, enough stuff to do without feeling overwhelmed, and good mix of biomes. The only slight criticisms would be the poor climbing system and some underwhelming side quests. From this video, those seem to be fixed so I'm excited to play. Looks great! Idk if the story will hold up against the first tho, i did not expect such an interesting concept and narrative.

I’ve run into a few little bugs like Aloy’s hair occasionally going nuts and glitching on the environment, but it’s not yet spoiled my enjoyment.
I can tell I’m enjoying it and it’s got its hooks in when I’m playing late at night and I know I need to go to bed but I still do the old “I’ll just do ONE more thing!” or “I’ll just speak to this person then turn it off” and an hour later I’m still going!!

  • @readneuromancerbywilliamgi6761
    @readneuromancerbywilliamgi6761 2 года назад +51

My main issue with the game is the entire climbing system feels... off. It just feels janky, Aloy doesn't always go where you point her. It's not just the weird selective climbing points on the walls/cliffs, it's also the platform hopping and the nimble quick climbing/jumping. It's almost like the invisible 'zone' where you need to put Aloy to have her latch on or jump up to the next climbing point is way too small. You can be sitting on the side of the cliff, you're holding onto a bright yellow climb point, staring at another one right above you, and instead of a smooth push of the joystick upwards, you have to sort of roll the joystick back and forth as you push up on it until you get the right spot for her to make the next climb. It's not terrible, it's only on some areas too, but it adds up and with the amount of climbing/platforming in this game, it's much more noticeably janky than many of the other games in similar genres.

I've put a lot of time into this weekend, the vast majority of the game feels buttery smooth and you can get so stylish and creative with the way you bring down the robots, just like the first but expanded further. It's a bit overwhelming at first and you're showered with a lot more stuff a lot faster than you were in the first game. Overall - I'm having a lot of fun and it's worth the price for sure

Combing sucks. Particularly the puzzles that take this expansive game and turn it into this hyper linear and often nonsensically specific experience.
At one point I got stuck in a house basement because the game scripted a hold point to fall. And there was no way to get up the wall that was indicated I needed to climb. Windows everywhere. Non climbable (but a kid could climb) locations everywhere. I had to glitch up the wall to get out. So stupid.
It's just very immersion breaking and forced.

It's pretty easy to forget that until very recently, she had no one but her mentor to rely on, and he wasn't much of an example for people interaction, being an outcast himself. She's led a very lonely life where she had nobody but herself to rely on (and Rost to guide/train her so she could survive) so it makes sense for her to be a little awkward and to be lacking that human warmth. It gives her a lot of room to grow and learn to coexist with a world that used to treat her like she didn't belong.
