  • The Cumberland Ridge Runners, performing "Goofus" at a children's hospital ward in Kentucky, (circa 1932 -1935). From the 1992 video "Things Ain't Like They Used to Be". The Cumberland Ridge Runners were a highly successful, old-timey Hillybilly band with a stage show and series of radio broadcasts that combined top-flight musicianship with hillbilly dressing up and hamming. This performance gives a good indication of the manic nature of the group, as the members all switch instruments during the song, while Red Foley (who was a member of the group at the time) does an uncanny imitation of comedian Stan Laurel.
