Yo just a heads up for when you go vegan, make sure you research how to properly nourish yourself. I've seen people do the one month vegan challenge and then call it "malnurishing" because all they ate was bananas and celery. Vegans need to hit 2000 calories a day just like anyone else.
Ironic you plug your video about quitting sugar (more content) and your daily vlog on Patreon (even more content that may be endless) after you recounted that you wanted to get away from consuming endless content
close youtube, but first, evaluate everything you watch, is it really useful, worth it ? nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, youtube is just way too effective at making u addicted
especially as so much stuff now uses the internet as a backend that you're not even aware of. That cellphone? It uses the internet to send and receive those text messages, for the navigation you've come to rely on, for the weather updates it gives you whether you like it or not, etc. etc. The newspaper? A collection of stories written by editors based on what's posted on the internet first, based on information the editing team found on the internet. The smart meter and other IOT stuff? Uses the internet to send and receive data. Etc. etc.
That's what's so messed up about it. Quitting the internet is almost impossible in 2019. Yeah you can limit the time you spend on your phone but that's about it.... But if you're really badly addicted it's like alcoholism. You just gotta stay away from alcohol, can't have one drink. Same can be said about the internet.. "oh I'll just watch one youtube video and check my email"... Like yeah right, you end up watching 15 videos, you read all the news articles, you check the Twitter app, you take a selfie and post it on instagram... And there you go. You realize you can't freaking quit.
@@jwenting I think that's not how they're looking at it. Has nothing to do with the back end. It's about using the internet as an intentional tool, rather than using it to just fill time and erase boredom. The latter is something that so many of us do. That's the issue. Not the internet as a tool or as the back end. Consumption of meaningless information.
I don't really use social media, but I am 100% addicted to RUclips. I spend hours on this thing, but a lot of it is actually watching content that makes me think (or at least makes me think for a few seconds before I click the nexr video that lists the top 10 things you missed from the Truman show). I feel like I cannot break away from it.
Right there with ya. So I try to keep it to documentaries, podcasts, and educational. But then, I was always that kid who spent a lot of time in the library before the internet existed to learn more stuff. I really need to unplug and get back to the library.
Same. I used to be addicted to video games years ago, then completely gave them up. But my addiction was always replaced with something else like RUclips.
@@skellymom I do agree as I love words in general but I am dyslexic and need hear the words as my brain will mix words on a page up especially on white page (:() and I end up reading a chapter about 10times before I understand the story (very annoying!) so the internet or youtube has been a life safe on that front and the app Dragon is amazing
I always wince when I see the title but I watch it because it's by Craig. And the format he came up with is so amazing that it makes a Buzzfeed sounding challenge like this a legitimate experiment. I guess I'm just used to all the fake people claiming to do the same and being hyper for the camera instead of expressing their feelings.
"It keeps us from being invested in things" That is a profoundly true statement. I need to cut back on internet usage myself. The more I give the more it takes.
I was watching this video like 'normal' until the 9 : 32 mark....and then I realized that I dont have to be invested - so I stopped watching. Then I became invested in the comments and felt bad for not watching the whole video and what impact that would have with YT signals and creator payout. Now I'm even more invested and I'll be back tomorrow to support you guys again. 🤯
The issue with social media is we compare ourselves with others and read all these controversial opinions. It brings us down and we never truly realise that until we're free from that addiction
You're asking RUclips, the place that wants you to waste hours of your life on their site, to notice a video that shows people quitting the internet?? ... 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣 Poor, poor you.
I finished watching a documentary on muhhammad ali at midnight today. i was feeling inspired and if i had went to sleep it owuld have been a great end to my day. It's 3 am now, I've been watching youtube for the past three hours. This is the last video I'm watching before I go to sleep, I feel like shit. This needs to end.
I was the same found methods that made a difference but kept failing monthly periods, i want to go without internet for a year. I would store my phone somewhere in the house, letting me know it’s forbidden. In that state I’m forced to be productive and over time things got easier. At first this didn’t work so I will tell my little brother to hide and ask for it when going to work and tell them to put it by me when i fall asleep. This is not easy and you have to sacrifice. I really hate technology ruins people without realisation because it has become normal. Something that cant be moderated and should be abandoned completely.
Not gonna lie, when Ada was on the swing I totally zoned out and wasn't paying attention to anything but her adorableness until Craig said something like "they're all just watching Ada anyway." It gave me that feeling like when you're trying to sneak a cookie out of the pantry and your mom yells from a completely different room "You better not be in the pantry!"
"I want to get to know myself again " "I don't know what I like to do, because all I do is browse the internet " so true (even if I'm on RUclips right know)
I paused the video at around 8:00 because suddenly I admired that frame so much; a beautiful wife, a cute happy daughter, a sunny day at a peaceful park on vacation, and I said to myself, If this isn't heaven on earth then I don't know what is. Truly is all what a man wants.
A beautiful wife, a cute happy daughter, a sunny day at a peaceful park on vacation. If this isn't heaven on earth then I don't know what is. Truly is all what a man wants. "Oooh! I should go tweet that!"
I really enjoyed how you fused your new format with jokes that speak to the longer time followers! Thank you for such a satisfying, skillful application of this format and digging the content!
Really loving it as well. I used to miss the old format but now that the humor is back I think I like it more than the old stuff. Probably in part because I prefer longer videos.
Wheezyyyyyyyy these videos are SO GOOD I LOVE THEM. I definitely feel Chyna on the whole feedback loop of wanting people to say things about me. I think that's a human thing, but it's always good to keep it in check and be aware of it. Also it's reassuring to see your channel get a surge of virility from posting less frequently rather than more frequently, it makes me feel better about only slopping out one video a month.
The problem is that it is an INSTANT gratification. You have to do nothing but exist and take a picture or say a few words. The other side of commenting is you feel good to making someone feel good but you're not actually commited to put much thought into "aww your hair is gorgeous! your walls are so solid! wow your hand has fingers!" and yet you still feel like a good person and get feedback in return.
@@petterson- Hmm, that's part of it but eventually the internet and social media gets us in a "ludic loop" which is what gets us addicted and waste so much time without noticing while repeating the same thing over and over again. Look up the term, it's interesting. I had been wondering while I felt the way I did when scrolling through my phone and I just found out why
Another brilliant month of quitting, well done Craig and Chyna! I keep living these cycles of leaving twitter and feeling better then coming back and being fully drawn in. In fact I'm going to scramble my password again now. It did help when I unfollowed all but about 150 people so I have that moment again of feeling "caught up". Facebook I find hard because of a. messages and b. events. Messages are sort of okay because I am transitioning to texting and calling people rather than talking to them on messenger, although I find my friends regularly use fb messages for group events rather than whatsapp or imessage. But events are trickier. Instagram I have an okay relationship with. Keeping an eye on it tho. RUclips I watch too many talk show interviews but otherwise is good.
I've found staying away from the fb feed has really helped me to get more enjoyment out of fb. Having groups that my friends all participate in and viewing fb messenger as more of a texting/calling alternative rather than use of social media helps too bc I realized I really only use it in place of texting or calling and only with people who either prefer it or aren't in this country so I can't text or call directly through my phone.
Also, as a nerdfighter thank you for everything you do! Sometimes I think you work harder than Hank, lol. Don't tell him I said that though, he's still who I want to be when I "grow up" lol. (I'm a whopping 4yrs younger than him)
Using the standalone apps makes a big difference! Also, can’t guarantee for the events app but for messenger you can deactivate your Facebook account without it affecting the messenger app. There are also chrome extensions that will block your Facebook feed (but let you use the app) if you prefer that route - that’s what I did first before transitioning to messenger only.
Im an addicted, but once upon a time 2 years ago my phone died, and I was (monetarily) reluctant to buy a new one right off, so I decided to wait and see what would happen. It turned out it was so good that I spent 2 months in total without cellphone and that was like freedom. It just BLEW my mind it was awesome. Its a mental prison when you have the constant urge to check the freaking phone and I realized I HATE to carry a phone in my pocket 24/7. You buy a new phone, and get: "Oh i spend a good money on this, I better at least use it" and BAAM youre addicted. During this period I read many books, felt much happier, got to seek what I actually wanted and I had more time for myself, for the family and during the work, because the days felt they were like 4 hours longer... and so on... But modern life almost demands you having a phone, guess we can only live trying not to be addicted.
Had kind of the same experience after loosing my phone and was without it for only about 2!!! weeks. So peaceful! I should delete facebook, instagram etc. And only use the apps that are really helpful, Like the ones for public transport
Bruno Ramos I almost had the same experience that you have, and I really didn’t miss internet. The only « problem » that I might have, is that I really love music, it’s legit the only thing that I’ve missed.
Bruno Ramos, I've never had a cell phone and never was on social media. Believe me or not, but It's true. I like RUclips on my computer now and then, to watch good old movies and some documentaries, and that's it. My friends have cell phones, but it's just to call or be called, no Internet, no social media. You said that modern life almost demands us to have a phone, maybe, but seriously, one can live very happily without it. Even better, many people are so astonished to discover that life is possible (and great) without phone that they start to rethink their habits. That's not bad, isn't it ?
Yeah but what about being able to communicate with or contact people? Landline? Email? You carry a laptop everywhere? My job requires a phone, they even gave me one. What did people do back in the day when they lost their party at Disney World?? Marco Polo? If I went to go hang out with someone without a phone and I lost them, I’d be so tempted to just go home.
Everyone needs to see this video. This is the most honest, unbiased, real video of two humans who are absolutely hilariously and fun to watch. I have two kids and I am a full time stay at home mommy. I homeschool both, K and 1st grade, and my 1st grader is on the spectrum. The internet has become my escape, my drug to numb myself or distract myself from the enormous responsibility on my shoulders every day all day. I don't drink alcohol or do drugs rx or otherwise, but this video made me see that I think my binge watching at night and then daytime breaks to RUclips and Insta (you know because I am obviously not a successful mom and Learning Coach unless enough people like my new learning wall design or whatever......🤪) well, it has become a huge problem. I am going to try this challenge for 30 days. I already quit Facebook last year as it just sucked up sooooo much time and I can *NOT* deal with family members being upset that I commented on one person's post and liked it but not theirs or whatever drama..... like seriously? I am just trying not to lose my mind over here, I wipe butts and clean like 10 loads of laundry and dishes and faces and read for hours and answer 500 philosophical questions from 2 adorable little children aaalllll dang day and you are upset I didn't search your page and like the little hipster hat you crocheted little Frankincense West? Uh no thanks. Oh wait, that totally makes me s hypocritical butthead. See?! That is what the internet does unchecked! Turns us into opinionated, hypocritical buttheads. *end rant* Thank you so much for this video!!! You guys are so awesome! And your daughter is adorable! 😊😃🏆💛🏆
Curls of Innocence Hair, Health, & Homeschooling If I could make a recommendation to both of you I’d REALLY recommend starting a creative hobby- a hobby where you get to bring something to life. It could be making music, writing, drawing, painting, pottery, origami. crafting, knitting anything really. It’s a wonderful thing to create something. It instills a sort of humble pride in yourself, like “I did that!”. Try it.
Wonderful video guys. I actually just hit my one year anniversary of quitting Facebook. I can say my life is so much better for it. And as you said I am discovering myself and finding out who I am and what I want out of this life. Keep it up and keep on keeping on
This was a GREAT video!!! Split screen your wife's face from the first day until the last... I think she looked less tired and healthier. Her eyes were brighter and her face was happier... I'm so glad I grew up in the era of no social media... But, I am hooked as well and need to taper off a bunch... Thanks for the eye opener!!!
you're addicted to the action of checking media because of the dopamine it creates. Dopamine is created by anything that gives you a feeling of reward or pleasure, which are good things in many situations, so it's not as if dopamine itself is bad. It just becomes bad when your brain learns to associate an action (like checking media) so strongly with dopamine that you become addicted to the action. This is the same thing that happens with people who addicted to gambling
my biggest addiction is easily RUclips. I love so many youtubers and watch a lot of great content but still it sucks up way too much of my time... hmmm its a tough balance i guess. Twitter and facebook tho are complete wastes of time for me. Great video Craig!
I quit facebook for good 2 weeks ago..... I have no other social media account. It was nice for my mental health and psychological state. You can't be living so many lives at the same time in your head or fighting every single battle. Plus, you're losing the opportunity to live your life.
I just deleted my Facebook like 6 months ago and I completely stopped missing it within a week. I don't use Twitter or any other social media so the only thing I use the internet for now is watching RUclips videos, Netflix, and reading news, since I don't have cable or any other way to stay informed or watch things.
Why delete facebook tho? Its good for keeping in contact with your relatives. Im not saying that you have to use it every day, but just in case a relative wants to contact you.
I am with you. I did it as well and I never felt so good. I eventually had to set it up again for my school assignments and I really do not feel good about having it.
It felt like a relief when I deleted Facebook and Twitter. It’s been about a year. I just did the same with Instagram. They make me feel like such garbage. You scroll through and see the perfect image of people and assume they have this perfect life. It makes me start to look at my own life and think I’m inadequate even though I know that’s bogus. I think Netflix/Twitch are what I would have the most difficult time giving up.
I think the long stare from 7:22 to 7:36 was the longest, funniest fucking stare I've ever seen in filmed drama. Your parents are way more entertaining than the rest of this video, which was very good by the way.
Wow... this is very telling. I haven't had a cell phone in a decade & after years of that making other people uncomfortable, my dad put me on his plan & I have been trying to avoid the social media vortex that I've watched all of my friends get addicted to. In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a writer & spend a lot of time on my laptop, but when my big kids come home I shut it down for the rest of the day. Now that I have a cell phone, I have committed to not bringing it upstairs, using it aimlessly around the children, or using it during QT like while we're watching a show together before bed. It's hard, but I plan on sticking to my guns. Good luck!
It's really sad when you are so used to hitting the 10 second rewind because you missed something on Netflix, that you have a moment in real life where you actually thought you could rewind it... 🤦♀️
Its 3 am and Im in the middle of a binge of your videos. The humour is great and you and your wife are really down to earth and human-like ,unlike all these new youtubers that are basically playing a character on the internet. The content is interresting and the pacing of the videos are chill and great. Im really happy that I found this channel. Im a subscriber now!
I quit social media entirely and rode off into the wild on a motorbike for a few months. At the end, coming back to the internet and having a working phone - kinda just felt the same as you guys, like I'd broken some kind of loop/cycle/spell and I was more aware of how I was using the internet. Apart from that, it taught me we need to learn how to use this technology better - to make the internet work for us, rather than waste our time.
I've watched other internet hiatus things before, but your wife absolutely pinned my own social media habits. I've also watched your vegan video and parenting videos today so far. I think we (you two and my husband and I) could get along well together. :)
Ohhhhhhh I love this!!! I had to get off Facebook cuz of the endless scrolling. And then unfollowed tons of people on Instagram to stop scrolling. I watched a cool video similar to this about going on a dopamine fast but it was one step further to cutting out all distractions/joys so that eventually even the mundane became joyful again. Thanks for this!!!!
Bart van de Bovenkamp I did! I had so much free time and I am a million times more relaxed and happy. People can get dramatic on Facebook lol. I unfollowed any Instagram account that was making me unhappy or feel bad about myself too. It’s just nice to be able to focus on reality again and human connection.
That's awesome! I did the same a while back I narrowed social media use down to 1 platform, Instagram. And unfollowed a bunch of people. And now spending alot of time on things I really enjoy :) keep on staying happy
I did a similar experiment about 3 years ago. I found the constant stream of stuff was destroying my creativity and I needed to let myself get bored again. Easily the best decision I ever made and 3 years later, have not really gone back. I still set aside a few hours a week for the internet, but generally stick to educational content or content such as yours which is just good fun.
I did this too, but in returning to internetting, I found it’s like house cleaning; the dirt eventually creeps back in, no matter how much you’ve deliberately set aside time to clean each day. Eventually, you still have to do a mega deep clean of everything.
At the beginning of COVID, I grew addicted to Facebook that when we returned to work, I was feeling the itch to check every five minutes. Deleted the app from my phone and then replaced it with Instagram, which at least made me happier, but also a time suck. Two years later, deleted that from my phone. I really resonated with your wife when she described looking at people and their lives, being jealous or wanting to buy things was exactly how I felt. Now that I don’t see that content, I am able to appreciate my own life a little more. I spend more time playing games, watching the movies I want to see, or reading books.
@@ChynaGrove I won't lie: seeing you and Ada on Instagram was adorable (I still think you should have nsmed her Cheezy though), but I'd rather see the two of you get real quality private time together. Not Wheezy though, he's ours. ;)
That's what I was thinking! I loved the part when they were sitting on the couch, all flushed, with their hair wet like they had just taken a shower... together.
I quit cable television about, oh, maybe 7 years ago. It was hard at first but now when I go to the doctor's office and I see the commercials and the "hyped" content that is the "news"...yea....I don't miss it. I call it "emotional manipulation".
I quit using social media such as Facebook and Instagram about a year ago because it always ended up bumming me out, I also would spend an hour at a time just scrolling through posts I didn't care about a lot like you guys said in this video. Unfortunately I still use Reddit and RUclips for my main entertainment, I've been thinking of giving them up as well but there's a fear of being uninformed and out of the loop on everything. Plus I would miss great content like this. You mentioned podcasts as well which I listen to excessively, especially while I'm at work. I think what I'm noticing is the stuff that bums me out is always comments and other people's opinions and outrage over stupid little things. Long comment I know, but this video has kind of inspired me to take an extra step in cutting out toxic environments like Reddit, political podcasts and RUclips channels and overall focusing on content that makes me laugh and feel good, this channel is a must have for me and certain podcasts such as Your Mom's House are going to be sticking around. Finally no more aimless perusing looking for something mildly entertaining, great video and documentation of a problem a lot of people face in the world we live in today.
On the podcast thing, maybe choose like 4 podcasts to follow - and have like one educational, one comedy podcast, one podcast you wouldn't listen to usually etc. and so on. Or just choose one podcast and listen to it until you get sick of it and take a break. Personally I like listening to podcasts, but only when I am on the bus, where I don't want to interact with people.
@@Laura-bq4uu I listen to Your Mom's House for some goofs and Rogan for more of an educational aspect, I try to stay away from political content and have a smaller focus on what's directly around me
I've stopped social media (in general. still on youtube cause I like people like you...) at first it was a battle. kept going back for that "refresh." now I'm off of it and cant get enough of my kids. I think I'm a better husband, because I actually hear what my wife is saying instead of listening to her words, so I can make a facebook/tweet about it. 10 out of 10. Stop social media.
I quit social media 7 months ago and have since read tonnes of book but look, I'm on you tube right now... ffs. Also! No streaming TV either. Noone from fb contacted me to see where I went so that says alot. I forgot how much I love reading. Don't let them dumb us down.
I don't think I could quit youtube, podcasts and messaging apps, but social media like facebook, twitter, Instagram etc... is definitely a complete waste of time and serves no purpose at all.
I quit reddit like 6 months ago or so. Honestly, it was quite easy. I used to spend like half of my day just browsing throu reddit (mostly on /r/relationships). I did the following: 1)deleted my account (it was hard since that meant losing all the posts and so). This made so that upvoting/downvoting posts was no longer possible, which greatly reduced the need to actually do it. 2)I blocked it on my pc. It was hard because when I did search for something, it was showing me reddit posts. Nowadays, I rarely ever get any reddit results on google (I think that google actually gives some sort of search priority on frequently visited websites-correct me if I am wrong). As for the phone, I just tried not to go on it anymore. After a couple of weeks, I totally lost the need to go on reddit. 3)At that time I also quit gaming. This gave me a lot of free time. So I started watching gardening videos and such, and grew some plants. I also watched primitive technology who inspired me to make some clay pots. This kept me busy for a bit. I also tried writing a book, but my lack of experience made me to quit. Nowadays, my biggest addition is, yup- you guessed it, youtube. I simply do not know how to quit it. I'm here most of the time. If I manage to quit this, then I will be no longer internet dependent. But your post is 1 month old already, so did you manage to quit reddit? @@matthewd.6467
xeonome I did not! Though my next semester of classes started, so I have much less free time to spend there. My usage of everything has gone down pretty significantly just by default, so I'm feeling better now.
Man I like this new video style with the conversations with Chyna. And the bits with the parents are hilarious! Haven't checked this channel in a lonng time, obviously. Is eagle punching still a thing around here? Oh dammit, Craig won't read this for a month.
Just came across this in 2022 and I find it inspiring. I became addicted to my phone during lockdown and rely on it to alleviate stress, but I am slowly undoing all of that. No social media, more books, eventually much less reliance on the Internet. Looking forward to getting back to a life that is not focused so much on Internet based activities.
Dude I just discovered your channel today because of the 30 day waking up early and I gotta say you are pretty genius, its really intelligent and funny and your family is adorable. I'm an instant fan, thank you for lightning up my day and trying to make us a little happier. Best of luck from Brazil.
You're killing me with this comedy! I keep having to pause the video to catch my breath so I can re-focus on the valuable advice. How did I just find this channel.. Love it!
Whilst on social media we are constantly being exposed to tense shit and tons of opinions that piss us off and don't really mean real problems... it's a waste of time
The hardest part for me is that I can't click on the next book when a half page is boring. I have to stay in the feeling and work myself through it. It requires so much partience :(
Okay, you need to stop doing these month-long challenges. When you did the sugar one, I asked my gf if she wanted to try it and she did and so we did it. The no-sugar-for-a-month challenge, not the other it. And now you've done this and I'm gonna ask my gf right now if she wants to try and it and I'm pretty sure she will and then we'll do this and become better people who don't watch WheezyWaiter videos anymore and then we can't be inspired to do the same challenges you're doing and - oh. On second thought: keep doing the month-long challenges, I probably won't notice anyway due to this one.
I'm not on Twitter and I quit Snapchat a while back, so I like to fool myself into thinking I'm not "as addicted" to social media as other people. In addition, a few months ago I turned off all of my notifications (except for text messages & calls) and cut down on my data usage severely. This ended up being just the right amount of cutting back that I needed. I spent more time reading, knitting, coloring, cooking, and going on walks (to listen to podcasts, of course!) and spent less time being interrupted by notifications that two more people like my Instagram photo or that someone loved my Facebook comment. I realized that these were things I didn't need to see throughout the day and that they had become very distracting for me. Now, I'm back to scrolling through my phone to wake up in the morning and just before bed and most of the time I don't even realize how much time I've spent scrolling. I usually stop when I reach an article that's been shared three separate times and think to myself, "Why does everyone share the same depressing stories??" I'm trying to dedicate myself to reading actual news articles like Craig (I've found that my local NPR's daily newsletter is a great source for this) and to stop scrolling once I've realized that I'm not experiencing any joy in the content I'm consuming.
On a positive note, my RUclips suggested you to me, I liked your message and approach, watched a few more, and signed up - notification bell included - so there's that, but I do try to be aware of my social media attachment and to limit it. Thanks for the encouragement.
I deleted my Facebook mid 2016, I was nervous when I did it! It only took a couple of months before I decided it was the best decision. I talk to far fewer people than I did before, but our interactions are more personal and meaningful. I don’t miss it at all now. Good luck quitting, Chyna!
Really love this and the sugar one. Looking forward to seeing the vegan one too. Would love to see you do Keto and/or Intermittent Fasting for a month!

I love your channel! :) Me and my bf were forced to quit the Internet cold turkey for a whole summer: we had 2 computers. One of them broke and had to be shipped back to the company for repair. Took over 3 months to get it back. Meanwhile, the other one crashed as well and went to the repair shop for 1 month, then crashed again some days later, so we had to get it repaired too. Took another month and a half. 3 words: Best. Summer. Ever. (for me, not my bf)
Now that it's been nearly a year since you posted this, I would love to see whether the effects from this have lasted at all and what things are like now. Actually it would be great to see that for a lot of these experiments!

John, are you still going to be creating? I.e. vlogbrothers and your podcasts?
You are commenting here on a social platform, that makes RUclips social media

Agreed. Thank you guys for the honesty.
I always wince when I see the title but I watch it because it's by Craig.
And the format he came up with is so amazing that it makes a Buzzfeed sounding challenge like this a legitimate experiment.
I guess I'm just used to all the fake people claiming to do the same and being hyper for the camera instead of expressing their feelings.

aSongScout this is the best channel!!! I’m feeling inspired to try something similar. I just did a month of no sugar. But I didn’t document it lol.
"It keeps us from being invested in things"
That is a profoundly true statement.
Keep including your parents! THEY ARE GOLDEN
Your wife is brave for admitting her flaws on video. It’s inspiring so Thank you for the video

"I want to get to know myself again " "I don't know what I like to do, because all I do is browse the internet " so true (even if I'm on RUclips right know)
Still, the Internet beats garbage television, and binge-watching endless TV series episodes, or soap-catchup.

I love the honesty in this video. "I want people to admire me... such a gross thing"

@@petterson- Hmm, that's part of it but eventually the internet and social media gets us in a "ludic loop" which is what gets us addicted and waste so much time without noticing while repeating the same thing over and over again. So true man
"opinions are good but I don't need them all day" a very relatable mood during 2020
Another brilliant month of quitting, well done Craig and Chyna!
(I'm a whopping 4yrs younger than him)
Events really are tricky. That's what keeps me on Facebook at all.

Definitely install the "News Feed Eradicator" Chrome extension if you need to use FB on your computer. It's brilliant.
Yeah, but I had to get a phone just for YT or something, and just in general, JUST to text some human or call one.

*end rant*
Thank you so much for this video!!! You guys are so awesome! And your daughter is adorable! 😊😃🏆💛🏆

It instills a sort of humble pride in yourself, like “I did that!”. Try it.

The internet has become a repository of human intellectual waste. You have to wade through oceans of it before you find the good stuff.
Well said!
exactly.
It feels gross because it’s a dopamine addiction and now you know.
It seems that all humans have a dopamine addiction even most if not all tribes used some form of drug.
'Dopamine addiction"? your brain releases dopamine ... I feel like your addicted to the activity, not the dopamine... You cant "get off" dopamine. lol
you're damn right... now i feel bad for it.
you're addicted to the action of checking media because of the dopamine it creates.

Wow... this is very telling. I haven't had a cell phone in a decade & after years of that making other people uncomfortable, my dad put me on his plan & I have been trying to avoid the social media vortex that I've watched all of my friends get addicted to.

Jason Melo ahhh yes my Reddit addiction is driving me crazy, I may have to just delete it
I quit reddit like 6 months ago or so. Honestly, it was quite easy. I used to spend like half of my day just browsing throu reddit (mostly on /r/relationships).
I did the following:
1)deleted my account (it was hard since that meant losing all the posts and so).
Mom's death stare shot lasers into MY eyes! I felt ashamed.. but I didn't know why...
I felt scared.
Don't worry, she knows.
You can tell she's done it before.
I've been off Facebook for over a year. Best thing I ever did for my sanity. I've read a bunch of books since and my stress levels are a lot lower.
Me too. Facebook made me depressed
When your mother paused, I was in the edge of my seat! Such drama! While also being informative and true to life. A good video.
Man I like this new video style with the conversations with Chyna. And the bits with the parents are hilarious! Haven't checked this channel in a lonng time, obviously. Is eagle punching still a thing around here? Oh dammit, Craig won't read this for a month.
Eagle punching is infrequent, but not extinct!
I like this format a lot, too!
Love it!
Whilst on social media we are constantly being exposed to tense shit and tons of opinions that piss us off and don't really mean real problems... it's a waste of time
I found it hard at first to go back to reading. I had to learn gradually again how to concentrate.
Same! I started with 5 pages a night and now I'm devouring books 🤓 It was worth the initial effort.
On second thought: keep doing the month-long challenges, I probably won't notice anyway due to this one.
so did you do it?
@@ahmetsaidalkur50 you will never know!
@@lefrinj i will have to assume non-reply is an answer to my question
Wait til the no sex 31 day challenge lmao
@@christopherashford4194 my wife runs me through that challenge regularly :-(
I'm not on Twitter and I quit Snapchat a while back, so I like to fool myself into thinking I'm not "as addicted" to social media as other people.
Great video guys, the new format is really hitting the production quality out of the park!
Me: I NEED TO QUIT THE INTERNET ITS RUINING MY LIFE!!!!
Also me: just one more video....😭

Self control
Try losing your phone on purpose. 😂
Man I love this!!! They’re definitely talking about me in every aspect of this video. Thank you for making this video.
I'm always coming back to this video as a reminder/motivation when I feel that internet and social media have taken over my life
it may be like the fifth or sixth time i'm here lol
I LOVE these videos Craig. Especially the Mom and Dad segment!! Keep up the good work! 👍🏼
I deleted my Facebook mid 2016, I was nervous when I did it! It only took a couple of months before I decided it was the best decision. I talk to far fewer people than I did before, but our interactions are more personal and meaningful. I don’t miss it at all now. Good luck quitting, Chyna!
I came here because youtube recommend it.. then in the intro you mention endless content we didn't search out and it really hit home.
We should set up an accountability group online so that we stay... offline. Wait, this is never going to work!

Love this. I haven’t been on all social media for 3 years now and I don’t miss it at all. However, I still have my favorite RUclips videos😊
Really love this and the sugar one. Looking forward to seeing the vegan one too. Would love to see you do Keto and/or Intermittent Fasting for a month!
IF won’t be that hard if you are only skipping breakfast. The keto one I would love to watch.
Keto is kind of bad for the body 😳
@@berntttoast lol no it's not... it's super healthy. There are all kinds of doctors talking about it on RUclips these days. Example: ruclips.net/video/vMZfyEy_jpI/видео.html

I haven't had any social media in 4 yrs. I've found out a lot about myself. Much happier with out it
Since I gave up TV ten years ago, I wrote 6 books. Amazing how much our gadgets steal from our LIVES!! They do NOT make things easier.
I love your channel! :)
Me and my bf were forced to quit the Internet cold turkey for a whole summer: we had 2 computers.
I like how they stay in the bit. 12:30. They both break a little, but then stay in it to enjoy it more. I really like this.
I haven’t been on social media since 2016. Don’t miss it at all. Take away you tube and I might have a melt down 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I absolutely LOVE your parents! They’re hilarious!
